For those who don't know 周文龙 , he wasn't a nobody. He was actually the same period with Lin Dan & has become his practicing partner in the national team. He actually won many tournaments within China including a few champions when Lin Dan was also competing during those years. That's why during the match, their scores were so closed & he took round 1 & almost got round 2 as well. But like many other international players in sports, injuries, body type & born physical type limit many of their development as years go by :-( Simply put it, he was like a shy, low profile player who didn't have the chance to step up & being sent to the world stage as often as Lin Dan, as the China National Team is such a huge team with so many competitions. Lin Dan is truly blessed with the talent, athleticism & fitness combined with looks to form the perfect athlete. You can clearly see he wasn't going full throttle, and beat this guy out of sheer fitness.
@@ninomojo So did many other players including LCW. What made him that much better than everybody else is his talent and athleticism. Those can't be trained or practiced. As a comparison, do you think all other runners did not work as hard or harder than Usain Bolt? Why is he that much faster than the rest? Same logic.
@@andycarollsuarez Of course there is an element of "gift" from nature. Lin Dan said himself that he SUCKED for a long time, and just worked incredibly hard. If you want an example of how working harder can be the decisive factor: Viktor Axelsen. Everyone works hard, no one works even close to as hard as he does. Be breathes and lives badminton 24/7 and completely rethought his whole life around it. The difference is that Carolina has the capacity to work harder and harder". I hope that clarifies my thoughts. Have a good day!
The opponent was LD's training partner not his coach, the uploader has translated it incorrectly. If you train with someone everyday, you get to know shit about him. That's why he play good when facing LD, he couldn't perform half as well with other opponents.
I always wonder whether Lin Dan has ever played to his full potential. He has come across to me as a Rishi, Muni or Monk who has to be respected. lin dan is always amazing to watch. late in his career he became very calm and efficient, less physically explosive and less capable of winning against younger and faster players, but extremely mindfully present and centered. you see that here in the third game, where he assumes a command of the court in a way that was rivaled, only briefly, by kento momota. you see how he moves the highly skilled zhou wenlong around the court effortlessly until the poor guy cramps out. you gotta love the way he'll clear repeatedly deep into the same corner without any variation until his opponent's brain starts to normalize it and then he moves for the kill. that kinda thing can really mess with a player's processing unit. it's anyone's guess how long we'll wait to see someone with his levels of athleticism, skill, and lofty tactical powers dominate the courts so thoroughly and for so long. the undisputed king
this guy did a lot of unnecessary stuff, im not surprised he tired out. besides, lin dan controlled the whole match very well even when hes not having a good match

It can't be his coach as he's too fit and can still return most of Lin Dan's smashes and drop shots.
