I'm in tears. I was going through really bad depression yesterday and I was about to end my life because I felt so alone. I was about to give up on christianity. I asked God if he could just let me know that he was with me. Today I was talking to a friend who was thinking of suicide. I started to pray for her and somehow I started to feel like he was with me again. I started to listen to this and began to cry. I'm still in tears. I know my papa lives & he's always with me. Love you Jesus.
I know u this is 9 yrs.late hope your still here. I also wanted 2 end my life b4. Ended up in the hospital & was close 2 death! I'm happy that I'm here today. I have 2 beautiful young men now. I still take depression meds. But I'm thankful I'm here to c my boys & my grandchildren grow up!

Music is about interpretation. Personally I found this whilst searching for songs for my sons funeral. To me it speaks to me about how I felt about my son, he was and is my everything. My life was perfect with him in it. My faith is being seriously tested right now and I'm not sure I believe anymore. This is still a good piece of music.

no matter your religious spiritual beliefs etc, there is a feeling of peace and loving kindness in the Word of the Lord, you cannot deny it. People place too much emphasis on the logistics and detail of the Word and so so the word is not appreciated, it is given labels and then ultimately drown out by cultural differences and meaningless details. Your right this song was not necessarily written to God, but we have had such intimacy that we cant help sharing about how this song makes us feel. I personally love God and this song represents what i mostly feel towards God. So you shouldn't really get mad, if you don't like it, then don't read the comments.
To someone in love, they're everything, and that bond can be just as powerful as someone's love with God. It just depends on who you are and your beliefs. Just because someone doesn't believe in YOUR God, doesn't make them "wrong" necessarily. The song is beautiful, and everyone has the right to their own opinion on how to interpret it. I'm an atheist and I have loved this song ever since I first heard it and never thought about it being a xtain song until a few moments ago when I seen a video of some Colten dude singing it at a church.....Never even realized it was a church until I read the info. It's not so obvious christian. But we all can interpret it how ever we like.

I find it strange when people use this song for a significant other, but other people probably find it strange that I use this song as a love song to God.It just reminds me how He's always there to help me through shitty times in my life, and to comfort my broken heart. Like right now...I just got dumped yesterday. I took it so hard. It still hurts so bad and I'm going to miss him so much, but knowing God's always going to be there and he's never going to leave or abandon me gives me some peace

God took (and is still taking) those horrible things that the enemy did, through my father, to me, and turning them into something beautiful. He is now giving me beauty for ashes as I am being healed and set free, which will enable me to help other girls that were hurt :)
