#DoctorWho
Honestly, Blink is maybe _the_ single best episode of Doctor Who ever. Just, a perfectly contained masterpiece.
No.
It isnt.
It is very good but does not hold that title.
@@rnw2739Then what does?
@@TaunTaunTundra4477 The Caves of Androzani.
@@rnw2739 Yeah that's definitely up there and coming up on it's 40th anniversary next year but if we're going by just the new series blink is one of the best and I think the same can be said of the caves of androzani it is one of the best in Doctor Who in general because everyone has their favourite episodes but we gotta make sure we say one of the best not the best or maybe the best but one of the best
Those are both great, but the Girl in the Fireplace holds top spot for me
I love how when Sally, a random person he meets in the street, tells the Doctor that he's going to get stuck in time he just makes a face like "Yep, that sounds like something that could happen"...
Back in the days, when Doctor Who made you scared of mirrors and statues in just one week ;)
And scarecrows.
@@johnmcclure40 and motes of dust in the sunlight
And shadows
@@zakyoung9062 and dust in sunbeams... "Hey, who turned out the lights?"
This Is Hands down one of the best episodes top 5. Introducing one of the most iconic and terrifying villains in Doctor Who
The most interesting thing about this great episode is that it is a "Doctor Lite" episode, one in which he is rarely seen. And it is a "Companion Lite" episode as well, a truly rare combination. But the episode shines due to the excellent script, plus a great group of guest actors.
My absolute favourite episode of the 10th Doctor.
But he’s hardly in it
@@margotrobbiereputation2870 so?
Midnight for me.
@@timrosswood4259 so that implies that he may not like him that much. The less of him the better apparently...
Family of blood for me 😊
Sally is great: "I love old things. They make me sad." I relate.
To answer a speculation you make in the video, there are absolutely tshirts that read "The Angels Have The Phone Box ". This is one of my favorite episodes to watch people react to. I must say, most people jump and scream a lot when seeing this for the first time. You mostly look intrigued, which is much the same way I reacted to it originally, so congrats on having great self control. Don't worry, I'm sure you're going to enjoy the finale. This is a very strong season, and it's going to go out with a bang.
Lmao, great pun.
I think I had to watch the episode in three parts because I'm a scaredy cat and this an awful episode! Great, but awful!
Hey Jay, yes, agreed: "Blink" is such a fantastic episode. Easily one of the most memorable! Carey Mulligan as Sally Sparrow absolutely carries and crushes it (how has she still not received an Academy Award?!). But among Doctor Who episodes and even the 10th Doctor's, it's one of the coolest, wildest & most mind bending trips. Although, there's still a whole lot of amazing stuff ahead for David Tennant's Doctor. Happy to see that you're enjoying Doctor Who, it's a great show.

"it's one of the coolest, wildest & most mind bending trips"
Spot on! For me this was almost a perfect episode of a television show. Entertaining from start to finish. Stone cold classic. (no pun intended.)
I agree. Carey Mulligan was great. (and quite a cutie to boot) Sadly, I've never seen her in anything else.
This is one of the most iconic and incredible episodes of David Tennant’s Doctor. Love it!!! The Weeping Angels will give anyone nightmares!
He’s barely in it.
Fun Fact:
Allegedly the idea for this episode came when Moffat was walking home and took a detour through a graveyard, and off in a corner he saw an Ange statue that was roped off. When he walked back through a week later, the statue was gone and when he asked the maintenance staff they said there was no record of an angel statue.
It's far more likely that he just read & recreated SCP-173, but it's fun to think about.
Blink has always been my go to episode to get people into watching Doctor Who. Worked every time. And Sally Sparrow would make an amazing companion. Great reaction Jay.
Why though? The main cast are barely even in it
@@obiwankenobi687 because new viewers won't get overwhelmed by the lore
@@timrosswood4259 doesn’t really mean anything, if you’re introducing someone to a show you sort of need the main characters in it. It would be so bizarre to start someone off three series and 10 episodes in. It would make more sense to just….start at episode 1 and watch it properly
@@obiwankenobi687honestly that could contribute to it being so good as a introductory episode. Theres no history of the main cast’s relationships to worry about knowing, but you still get very good looks at what you can expect from their characters. Efficient snippets of personality.
It’s a good little showcase of a lot of what someone might like about the show, with enough exposition to stand on its own.
@@coruscanta but it’s literally deliberately different than the main show. So as an intro it’s not telling people what the show is like. You may as well get them to watch love and monsters
Also impressive; Steven Moffat wrote this script in like a weekend.
That’s INSANE
It's based on a short story he wrote for the Ninth Doctor, so it's not that impressive.
Top 3 best episodes of the entire show! Add statues to your list of fears 😂
One of my favorite episodes. Made me scared of regular stautes for a while after, now I just turn it into a joke. Still watch them carefully. Just in case 😅
I watched your part 2 of the library, with River, earlier this morning. I went back and started from the beginning and marathoned it all day, been looking forward to this episode more than any other. Don't Blink. One of the best episodes ever made. Thank you for the fun. I'm looking forward to future videos you release.
The first Doctor Who shirt I ever got was the quote about wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. And the only time I dressed up for Halloween was for my daughter’s first Halloween, and I made myself into a weeping angel, or at least a representative of it. The weeping angels are the creepiest doctor who villain for me, primarily because they show pics of actual angel statues in the real world.
This is the best episode and is widely regarded as one of the most beloved stories in all of Doctor Who ❤️ OMG. I enjoyed watching this with you!!!
They did make a T-shirt that says that, as I have the one that says "The Angels have the Phone Box". One of multiple Doctor Who themed shirts I own.
It’s great watching your reactions to these episodes it’s almost like been able to experience seeing these episodes again for the first time again. Can’t wait for the last 3
A masterpiece of an episode! One of my absolute favorites! Glad you enjoyed it! Great reaction!
This was a ground breaking episode! It is brilliant. After all these years it is still one of my absolute favorite.
One of my absolutely favorite DW episode of all time!
Not just the best episode of Doctor Who, but probably the best episode of any TV show ever. No wonder it won an award, And no wonder Carey Mulligan was nominated as best actress at the Oscars,
To answer your question, yes. “The Angels have the Phone Box” is on several different TV shirts. I have one.
Yes, I think this is a lot of peoples favorite episode, which says a lot about how amazing this episode is as a concept considering the Doctor was never much in it.
This will always be imo one of the greatest episodes of Doctor Who
Blink is a wonderful episode, one of the best of new Who, self contained, full of real chills, ups and down, terrible fates for people and crazy things happening and makes you scared of statues in graveyards for years to come. plus its nice to see the Doctors adventure from a normal persons linear perspective of time - from the doctors POV he's given the transcript, looses the tardis, finds the guy, asks him to send a message then the Tardis arrives and he's off again
"it's the same rain."
I am jumping around in your Dr. Who reactions. Blink is the episode I think is the best way to introduce someone to Dr. Who. You don't have to know anything about the story arcs, you don't even need to know who The Doctor is. But you get a full sense of what the show is all about and how it feels.
I love that the angels can't move when we are seeing them. That way, in a very subtle way, we become part of the plot.
The brilliance of this episode is that the watchers of this episode are also watching the angels, and the angels aren't moving even when the characters aren't looking because the camera is on them and we are watching them. We count in this episode.
This is why the angel didn't immediately touch Cathy even tho she didn't look, because we were looking. The moment the camera moved away from the angels and now no one was watching the angel, it attacked Cathy
Oh, I've been waiting so long for you to get to this! A new reaction that I've not seen half a dozen times before.
It's consistently voted one of the all-time best episodes ever, which is no mean feat, especially considering that the Doctor hardly appears in it. I think it won several awards. Even people who don't watch Doctor Who know this one.
There's a vid on YT about how Steven Moffatt came up with the concept of Weeping Angels, which is very interesting.
From here on the series only gets better and better.
Absolutely one of the best Doctor Who episodes. The Weeping Angels are one of the coolest and most terrifying monsters ever. Much scarier than Daleks or Cybermen. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say this isn’t the last you’ll see of them.
I was 5 years old when this came out. My brother was 4. He couldn’t sleep for ages. He was absolutely terrified 😭🤣
So glad you enjoy Dr Who. It’s such an elite programme! I’ve been watching it since I was 3 which is when it relaunched in 2005.
The line: "...look to your left!" becomes a motif in a episode of a subsequent series that is very similar to this episode in that it isn't Doctor driven.
When these first came out in the UK the BBC published the DVDs three episodes at a time (with the box set coming once the series/season was over). The Family of Blood two parter and Blink came out on one of those DVDs, and while I'd already paid my license fee, and I had them taped on PVR, I felt obliged to pay the extra for this DVD. Generally series 3 isn't one of my favourites, but as three back to back episodes this is absolutely the high point of all Who, old and new, IMHO. (Which is weird, given the absence of the Doctor in so much of them.)
I'm glad you enjoyed this. One of my favourite 10 episodes, and i love Angels, my joint favourites with Daleks.
You have just been introduced to my favorite villain. The weeping angels are the reason I can no longer enjoy statuary gardens. They creep me out Andy eyes stay open no matter the pain.
There absolutely is an actual t-shirt friend, I ordered it like 12 years ago from Bulgaria and I still wear it
NEED IT
This episode is one off my favorites same with familly of blood.
Also me staring at all the freeking angels
This is what RTD used to refer to as a double banking episode, where they shot two episodes at once, one in which the Doctor and/or companion have a small or no role while the focus is on guest characters. You saw this before with "Love and Monsters." This is a rather more successful one.
Moffat strikes again!
So excited you’re back! Can’t wait till you get to the next season, a personal favorite I think
We are finally at Blink. Blink is one of the best episodes of any sci-fi... But I wouldn't say it is necessarily best Doctor Who with how minimal involvement from the crew there is.
my understanding is these episodes are sort of there to give the crew a break but still have the doctor there.
Such a great episode. Perfect really.
So much fun! A truly good episode. And yet... there's better still to come!
The only thing I would have done differently in this episode if I could change it is bringing back an earlier companion to be with the doctor in the end scene. Just to show that a lot of time has passed for him. Top 5 - absolutely.
We've been waiting for you to see this. Great episode and great reaction as always.
can confirm you can get 'the angels have the phone box' on a tshirt. i have one and its my fave :D
One of my favorites Doctor Who episodes.
Nice Bucs poster, makes my Tampa native heart proud
14:40 can we have the hatching explained in the 60th Anniversary?
I have that on a t-shirt!
Fav episode of the season and of the 10th doctor !
I wish i could go back to seeing this episode for the first time, this is the best alternative. Definitely one of the best episodes of DW ever, and the weeping angels are the most perfect and one of the scariest monsters ever. A masterpiece
I knew Jay was going to love this episode and the reaction was worth the wait. My only frustration is that we do not know where the Doctor and Martha are going with the bows and arrows. Or why! Except that it's important! I suppose I should be used to this by now.......
Dont look away, dont blink, blink and you are dead.
Absolutely great reaction 💯👍 a favorite episode of mine 💯💯🤘🤘
It's weird to see someone not actually knowing what a weeping angel is 😂😂 it's nice to see again with new eyes
I’ve watched this episode many times. I love it yet I still just closed the curtains to be able to sleep. Still Creepy!! Lol
The writer of this episode (who also wrote The Girl In The Fireplace episode from S2) becomes the showrunner with season 5. So IMO the best is yet to come. And I include S4 in that, Russel T Davies is amazing too so no intent to suggest Steven Moffat is necessarily better. But just saying from here on out i think you're going to be this hyped in most episodes.
The great Carey Mulligan at the start of her career!
I just realized that these reactions are recent !!!! Can't wait for you to watch more seasons. BLINK is one of the best, but in all honesty, David Tennant years were some of the best writing. ENJOY !!!
Masterpiece of episode
One of my favorite episodes ever!
One of the best episodes
Great reaction sir
My mum sneezed at the moment of the jumpscare and scared the s**t out of me!!! 🙀
This episode made me paranoid about statues for a while.
This is my absolute favorite episode!
Do you happen to have alot of statues in your hometown?
Thankfully I do NOT 😆
When I first watched this episode it made me scared of statues
Sally, played by future Oscar nominee Carrie Mulligan
Why did this Doctor who had fought with Gods and demons run from us? He was being kind.
Finally, THE episode
Great reaction to the best of the best.
The best episode of the show for me
Yep, one of the best episodes ever...
Good job
It is such a shame that Sally Sparrow had just one episode in DW. I'd love to see her more, but alas.
After i watched this episode the first time statues felt a bit creepy for some time 😔
A really good episode but people like to overhype it a lot, suggesting that this is the best the show can get or that this is somehow the ‘peak’ or the best episode ever when let’s be honest there are a loads and loads of brilliant episodes to come so don’t think nothings ever going to beat this.
I have the t shirt.
Have you considered reacting to the Sarah Jane Adventures?
Steven Moffat has a knack (or weakness) for time-paradox stories, going back to the humorous short 'Curse of Fatal Death' charity Red Nose Day special in 1999 (see ruclips.net/video/tp_Fw5oDMao/видео.html but NOT until you have seen the rest of Season 3 because [spoilers]). Some people say that Moffat is sometimes too clever for his own good, but when it works-as in this episode-it's brilliant.
oi it's pee pee poo poo time
I’m just grateful we don’t get episodes as bad as this nowadays
Trolls going to troll
