    The only guy that really scared me in this show was Patsy. He rarely laughs, he is cold, calculating, competent. Tony surely saw him as a potential threat. Very well acting. "It won't be cinematic."

      The actor was originally billed to just play Philly Spoons who was seen and then whacked in like 5 min. He impressed Chase and the guys so much that they created a part for him as Patsy ... Philly's twin brother. And he wound up doing a phenomenal job and becoming a huge part of the series.

      And I still think he was behind the hit on Tony to end the series. Outstanding grievance over his twin brother that he's kept buried, did whatever was asked of him for years to deflect suspicion, struck when he saw that Tony lost most of his support, and Patrick is about to wed Meadow. If that theory is the correct interpretation, it makes Patsy the Littlefinger of the show.

    Tony is acting smart here. He doesn't want to seem uptight by reprimanding Ralph for the joke about Ginny Sacks so he laughs but says out loud “c'mon it's a mans wife we’re talking here”. Now Tony has covered his back, he can always defend himself afterwards by saying he told Ralph the joke was inappropriate.

There really has not been a situation on the show when Paulie had the chance to change families and us viewers find out if Paulie wants to stay where he is or will happily go to New York. If Paulie did not find out that John was playing him with saying Carmine asks about him Paulie would still have been kissing John's ass and telling John Sopranos business.

      He doesn't like Christopher because he knows he's a junkie and can't be trusted for serious stuff, and that he doesn't deserve to get promoted to captain. it's nepotism by Tony, who himself became boss that way.
      For that reason the old timers never liked Tony, and disapproved of most of his decisions. And by promoting Christopher so much you can see how the old timers get increasingly more annoyed with Tony.
      And if you think about it, they were right, Tony basically ended the NJ Italian mafia, just by whacking so many people including his own crew
      Tony himself in the end had no choice but to admit it was a mistake to try molding Christopher to be his right hand/successor with him being an addict and whacked him

    Patsy is the most underrated characters in the series. Always had an intelligent look to him, one of his sons went legal just like Meadow and they eventually met (which is wonderful but I wanted to smash tbh), would kick the shit outta ya however, like he did at the construction site argument with Chrissy, and played it smart until the end where he probably killed Tony and became underboss, I think.

      It's all formality.
      Patsy is a Made Guy, and Little Paulie isn't. Normally "associate" level guys don't get to talk official business matters. So Patsy as a Made Guy acted as Little Paulie's "champion" in the matter to bring it to the table. From there Patsy gave Little Paulie the ok to plead his case, and then it was up to the Made Guys to discuss and resolve. That's why Patsy chastises Little Paulie when he pipes up, he's already been given consideration, and he doesn't have a say in the deal making.

      @ that's not true. Silvio didn't agree with Tony's decision to make Chris acting capo because it was only because Tony wanted Chris to move up fast and eventually head the family. Silvio knew it would cause a problem with Patsy because he was logically in line to take over Paulie's role. That's why Silvio ordered Patsy to loot the job site, it was to keep him from being disgruntled with the decision.

      Patsy promptly sent Little Paulie back to Youngstown to tell Uncle Paulie what Ralph had said about Ginny. They should not have screwed Paulie & Co. out of those 10 no-show jobs...and then putting Chrissie in charge of Paulie's crew...Patsy was pissed.

      You are joking, right? Chris was a complete fuckup. He couldnt wipe his ass without someone holding his hand. And then were his liabilities which would have automatically disqualified him from any leadership position. I suppose if you are comparing him to Paulie he would come out a winner on brain power but not by much. And at least you could count on Paulie not to disappear for three day on an H bender. Paulie also knew how to control his bad temper while Chris could not. He killed that waiter in a public place because he disrespected him and also shot at the kid at the bakery in broad daylight. Very high risk actions that are not going to get you very far in the mob UNLESS you have the persona where you walk into a room and scare the shit out of everyone which Chris did not. No one had any respect for or fear of the guy.

    This entire clip showcases some of the best use of jokes in the show (not the best jokes, just clever use). First in the way that Ralph's joke went over really well but then gets turned on him later. Second, Silvio's lack of response to Christopher's joke about Paulie's wings

    It's the power dynamic: if the guys can agree it between themselves that's the best thing as Tony doesn't have to make a ruling and appear to "take sides" - someone (sometimes both) will end up unhappy. Only when an agreement can't be reached does he step in through Sil.
