And I still think he was behind the hit on Tony to end the series. Outstanding grievance over his twin brother that he's kept buried, did whatever was asked of him for years to deflect suspicion, struck when he saw that Tony lost most of his support, and Patrick is about to wed Meadow. If that theory is the correct interpretation, it makes Patsy the Littlefinger of the show.

It's all formality. Patsy is a Made Guy, and Little Paulie isn't. Normally "associate" level guys don't get to talk official business matters. So Patsy as a Made Guy acted as Little Paulie's "champion" in the matter to bring it to the table. From there Patsy gave Little Paulie the ok to plead his case, and then it was up to the Made Guys to discuss and resolve. That's why Patsy chastises Little Paulie when he pipes up, he's already been given consideration, and he doesn't have a say in the deal making.
I'm pretty sure the reason for Silvio's brusque "I'll talk to you later" was because of his distaste for the idea of Chris getting 'wings' in his hair.
@ that's not true. Silvio didn't agree with Tony's decision to make Chris acting capo because it was only because Tony wanted Chris to move up fast and eventually head the family. Silvio knew it would cause a problem with Patsy because he was logically in line to take over Paulie's role. That's why Silvio ordered Patsy to loot the job site, it was to keep him from being disgruntled with the decision.

This entire clip showcases some of the best use of jokes in the show (not the best jokes, just clever use). First in the way that Ralph's joke went over really well but then gets turned on him later. Second, Silvio's lack of response to Christopher's joke about Paulie's wings
It's the power dynamic: if the guys can agree it between themselves that's the best thing as Tony doesn't have to make a ruling and appear to "take sides" - someone (sometimes both) will end up unhappy. Only when an agreement can't be reached does he step in through Sil.
No lol, Tony isn't present for business orders because of wire tapings. If Tony is caught giving orders he is implicated in all their crimes as conspiracy to conduct organised crime. Something I just noticed is that when the other guys made all those Ginny Sack jokes, they were in the back of the strip club. However, here, when Ralph makes the joke, they're at a formal dinner. It's not just the joke, perhaps it was also about making the joke at the wrong time and place.
Tony was trying to prepare Chris to take over one day. Gus Fring and Tony both knew better but both made the same mistake, you can never trust a drug addict.
When you cant decide who is your favourite character in a show between as many as 5 characters. Paulie, Sil, Christopher, Junier and Tony. You know it's a fucking brilliant show. Cant wait for The Many Saints of Newark.

Patsy is a Made Guy, and Little Paulie isn't. Normally "associate" level guys don't get to talk official business matters. So Patsy as a Made Guy acted as Little Paulie's "champion" in the matter to bring it to the table. From there Patsy gave Little Paulie the ok to plead his case, and then it was up to the Made Guys to discuss and resolve. That's why Patsy chastises Little Paulie when he pipes up, he's already been given consideration, and he doesn't have a say in the deal making.
I love that Tony not only heard the joke but it’s one of the few times him and Ralph ever genuinely bonded on this series!

I'm pretty sure the reason for Silvio's brusque "I'll talk to you later" was because of his distaste for the idea of Chris getting 'wings' in his hair.

@ that's not true. Silvio didn't agree with Tony's decision to make Chris acting capo because it was only because Tony wanted Chris to move up fast and eventually head the family. Silvio knew it would cause a problem with Patsy because he was logically in line to take over Paulie's role. That's why Silvio ordered Patsy to loot the job site, it was to keep him from being disgruntled with the decision.

This Joke ended up being the most important thing to happen in the entire series. We are still feeling the repercussions from it.
Only because of Paulie's grade A+++ idiocy. That joke nearly got everybody brutally killed, Johnny Sack and Paulie included. And if Paulie had a brain, he never would have ratted on Ralph here no matter how much he hated him.
And there is nothing we could do about it. The Joke is made and the others weren't. It was among the italians real grease ball shit.

Paulie also knew how to control his bad temper while Chris could not. He killed that waiter in a public place because he disrespected him and also shot at the kid at the bakery in broad daylight. Amazing how much trouble this joke caused. On top of all the arguments, it nearly got Ralph, Paulie and Johnny himself whacked.

Love the acting from Little Paulie, as he's explaining it as if he's memorising a script. He wasn't very bright upstairs. lol
This entire clip showcases some of the best use of jokes in the show (not the best jokes, just clever use). First in the way that Ralph's joke went over really well but then gets turned on him later. Second, Silvio's lack of response to Christopher's joke about Paulie's wings
Look at ralph acting happy for chris, but the moment chris looks away, ralph's expression changes.
It's the power dynamic: if the guys can agree it between themselves that's the best thing as Tony doesn't have to make a ruling and appear to "take sides" - someone (sometimes both) will end up unhappy. Only when an agreement can't be reached does he step in through Sil.
No lol, Tony isn't present for business orders because of wire tapings. If Tony is caught giving orders he is implicated in all their crimes as conspiracy to conduct organised crime. He like other bosses act through their subordinates to avoid this issue. Which is why Tony wanted Junior to take the heat

Sil was so displeased with this decision to the point he even disobey Tony to keep Patsy happy.
Something I just noticed is that when the other guys made all those Ginny Sack jokes, they were in the back of the strip club. However, here, when Ralph makes the joke, they're at a formal dinner. It's not just the joke, perhaps it was also about making the joke at the wrong time and place.

When you cant decide who is your favourite character in a show between as many as 5 characters. Paulie, Sil, Christopher, Junier and Tony. You know it's a fucking brilliant show. Cant wait for The Many Saints of Newark.
Even Phil, Johnny, Furio, Ralphie are awesome characters. In fact almost every character is extremely well written for the amount of screen time they get.

Pretty obvious that the threat is "He won't be happy" but "if he's unhappy enough, he might become a problem." Of course Ralphie doesn't care what Paulie wants on a personal level...but on an ORGANIZATIONAL level, they have to care. Why do you think Ralph folded immediately after? His personal feelings have nothing to do with this.
