Animated operation of a Harp-Syle "Slug Catcher"

This excellent animation shows how a harp-style Slug Catcher works when a large volume of liquid enters the inlet header and using national forces, liquids and gasses are separated. These are used primarily in the oil and gas industry when pipelines are "pigged."

I live in the South. What in which is a slug catcher used? I noticed one on a home in Colorado.

These are used at gas processing plants to separate liquids from the incoming gas stream, they’re pretty big. As for similar residential systems, I have no idea.
