Marcus Bierman A lot of characters and events in Game of Thrones are based off on European/Asian classical and medieval history. Tywin Lannister, for example, bears a lot traits of King Edward I of England. The Dothraki share similar traits to the Huns. King Robert Baratheon is a combination of King Henry VII-VIII. etc... It is kind of fun to look up historical figures and try to place them on Game of Thrones characters.
Kevin Fee From what I have researched, Margery is very loosely based on Anne Boleyn. Oberyn is based on Indigo Montoya from the Princess Bride. Arya is being used to highlight what the experience and reality of what life was like during the Hundred Years War.
+WirlWind really? I had it more towards Robb than Talisa because I wasn't very fond of her (I thought that Robb and her having kids and stuff would take his attention away from the war and then they'd lose or get killed or something). But I still felt worse about Robb because Arya and Sansa had nobody left that they thought were alive after he and Catlyn died. Plus he's a Stark and I knew him from the start so grew more attached to all of the Starks than other characters.
I really love this reaction video! The guy in the middle (Matt?) has almost the same reactions I had, from the heartless killing of the wolf, to cheering on Catelyn to slit the throat of the Frey wife... Thanks a lot for the good watch, cheers! :)
It's been years since the last time i saw this reaction video but it's always been one of my favorites. Makes me curious what they've all been up to for the past 10 years.
Cate's a fightin' woman; she should've know better. While she was under the table, instead of grabbing the wife, she should've reached over and stabbed the husband. Arya's the real she-wolf now.
This is the best post reaction video I've seen of it. And it's funny I'm from Dublin and I had to read the subtitles at the start to understand what they were saying.
The subtitles' should grow bigger based on how loudly the words are said. For example, "Slit her throat Catelyn, fuckin'..." would be in normal size, and the "YES" would just take up the whole screen. Hilarious videos by the way. :P I'm surprised there aren't more season 4 reactions, there was a lot of good stuff in there. Either way, I hope to see many more to come. I've read past the point where the series ends, and I can tell you that you have a ton of cool stuff to look forward too. Then again, it's GoT, of course there's gonna be cool stuff.
🦁And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that’s all the truth I know. In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws, And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere, But now the rains weep o’er his hall, with no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall, and not a soul to hear. 🦁
+John Dyer, Indulge a dumb American "She has to be Tatie Bread" (Potato Bread, right) is a Scottish idiom for she's got to be dead? Is that just rhyming slang? I thought rhyming slang was a London cockney thing.
(SMALL SPOILER ALERT) hah, I love how the guy says "that wasn't even in the book"... actually im 100% sure that guy hasn't read the books cause robb dies like that and catelyn aswell but he doesn't bring his wife (Jeyne, this is her name in the book atleast).... and to all the true fans, no she was not preggos when this happened in the books -.- buy as i stated this does happen in the books and there is another large feast that someone dies in >:D im sure almost everyone will laugh though O_O
Grrrr I'm so mad!!! Slit that poor innocent girls throat Catelyn. It blows my mind how many people are happy that Catelyn slits the girls throat. She's like the only one there who did absolutely NOTHING to deserve any of this. Not saying the Stark's deserved it either, but no matter the intentions, their actions are still what caused this.
HBKCommish well she actually slits one of Walders Grandsons throats, the poor guy was pretty much like Hodor, he was harmless and hated violence, she knew that and killed him anyway.
It is to show how upset she is, overtaken by rage and despair, something that she would never ordinarily do. Very powerful - I love how Michelle Fairley makes it so casual to show how she is so lost that she doesn't even care that she's killing an innocent
When/if Sandor dies I will have a breakdown. Literally, I haven't read all the books that are available so, but if it he does I will be writing letter to George RR Martin. I mean when he killed off Ygritte I cried. So sad.
No, I knew it was going to happen.... I mean a legitimate death scene, as there wasn't any in the books or the series. There was no dead Hound. But GRR Martin said that the 'unkiss' Blackwater scene would become important later, and it can't be important if he's dead can it. Well I hope not..... Also that there's the grave digger theory.
Even native English-speakers find subtitles helpful sometimes. The volume can be weird, or they're not familiar with that particular accent, or there's too much noise going on at once, or they could have some kind of hearing issue. Like me; I have a processing disorder that leads to me getting sounds switched around or blurred together (even though my ears themselves are fine). So having subtitles is a HUGE help. I can at least confirm whether or not I heard what I thought I did. :)
jon snow is a true stark but he is also targeryan. Jon is not Ned's son. He is the son of Neds sister Layanna. She was raped by the guy with the two swords in episode where bran had the vision, the scream from the tower was her giving birth and died from it. In the first episode Ned told jon he is a true stark but won't tell him until the time was right. Khlessi and Jon are the true rulers of the kingdoms.
No, he was just a knight protecting the tower where she was for Rhaegar Targaryen. Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen are Jon's parents. He is both a Stark and a Targaryen.
I always liked this reaction because it wasn't over the top. It didn't even look like they noticed you recording until after it was done.
+Ian Ferguson They didn't. This was a full stealth recording.
I can't stop watching these.
Me neither. But this one is particularly good. The accents, the reactions, the subtitles, the entertaining discussions...
Klayhamn Definitely more to come from these two in season 4.
The Red Wedding is actually based on a historic event that took place in Scotland in 1440. Later called the Black Dinner.
I just watch an episode of "Castles & Legends" and they talked about it. So does that mean James II is the real life Joffrey?
Marcus Bierman A lot of characters and events in Game of Thrones are based off on European/Asian classical and medieval history. BlueHooloovoo Interesting way of looking at it
BlueHooloovoo And where do Margery, Oberyn, and Arya fall in that?
Kevin Fee From what I have researched, Margery is very loosely based on Anne Boleyn. Oberyn is based on Indigo Montoya from the Princess Bride. Arya is being used to highlight what the experience and reality of what life was like during the Hundred Years War.
It's interesting how every guy freaks out when they kill the wife, and every girl freaks out when Rob dies.
Actually, I think most women tend to gasp as the wife stabbing more than the robb.
I'd imagine because of that whole "mother instinct" thing.
+WirlWind really? I had it more towards Robb than Talisa because I wasn't very fond of her (I thought that Robb and her having kids and stuff would take his attention away from the war and then they'd lose or get killed or something). Plus he's a Stark and I knew him from the start so grew more attached to all of the Starks than other characters.
No! I'm a guy, and I cried a lot when Robb died
"Robb's gonna stir up all sorts of shit right now"
LOL when naive optimism verges on stupidity.
I just love your accents so much, God bless you.
Best video reaction I've seen thus far..I felt and thought the same! Love all your accents..made your conversation even more enjoyable!
I could listen to you guys talk all day. Gorgeous accents.
Irish people... We've become accustomed to dealing with tragedy. It's a rich tradition..
Funny how that girl talked about the lord of light bringing people back from the dead...
CATELYN WAS ME HONEY TOO! :(
I really love this reaction video! The guy in the middle (Matt?) has almost the same reactions I had, from the heartless killing of the wolf, to cheering on Catelyn to slit the throat of the Frey wife... Thanks a lot for the good watch, cheers! :)
That "Bollocks" subtile was the funniest thing.
6:49 That reaction timing was perfect, I thought it was over and then they slit Cat's throat. It was too much.
Fuck, I'm so proud to be Irish. Fantastic accents. :D
Best post show dialogue recording I have seen, most people would just stop recording at the credits. Great job filming this
Thanks for the subtitles! I don't always enjoy people discussing the show as it is happening but they were entertaining.
Oh my goodness, am I a bad girl for being more preoccupied with how adorable the guy's accent with the socks was?
I know...too adorable..and I totally agree with him!!
That's rare praise to hear about Northern Irish accents! They'll be pleased to hear it!
"this wasn't even in the book"
I feel so sorry for when episode 10 rolled around and you had to see what happened to robbs body.
I heard both Donkey Punch and Bollocks in this video... that's all I require to like it
Oh my god their accents kick so much ass! Wish I had one but I'm just American lol
You know, it's really hard to find a reaction video that doesn't include "fuck" uttered multiple times. XD
or holy shit is the other word ...
This is the best post reaction video I've seen of it. And it's funny I'm from Dublin and I had to read the subtitles at the start to understand what they were saying.
The girl under the blanket is pretty astute with her projections for the future
Yeah, I looked for this comment. Very astute, indeed.
Imagine how naively optimistic/devoted to the usual set of TV tropes you have to be to think till the knife goes in that he's gonna somehow live.
That man is straight up braced from the beginning for whatever is going to happen
"I can't cope"
Thanks for the laugh from Las Vegas, NV USA. Love other countries reaction. Cheers
guy needs cleaner socks :P
Omg, I love this reaction! It's like I'm watching "Game of Thrones"
via "Braveheart" through You Tube lol!...
...what?
The best reaction!
Best reactions ever.
You two are great love this video
WALDER FUCKING FREY!
Lovely haha :)
Thank you John, now I like him even more!
🦁And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that’s all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o’er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall,
and not a soul to hear. 🦁
I felt so bad for the Direwolf too.
as big as it was you wouldn't think arrows would put it down
Wait what? 5 crossbow men from 2 feet away could put down one of dany's dragons if they aimed right
Lol. This scene was probably filmed right next door to you lot.
are you kiddin me? that accent is amazing!!!!!
+John Dyer, Indulge a dumb American "She has to be Tatie Bread" (Potato Bread, right) is a Scottish idiom for she's got to be dead? Is that just rhyming slang? I thought rhyming slang was a London cockney thing.
You're right about the meaning, I'm not sure whether rhyming slang is exclusively cockney - certainly it's best known as cockney anyway.
Every time I hear that song I fucking cry hahaha
this is the best reaction I've seen. hahaha I was laughing the entire time.
07:08 interesting theory ...
quite......quite interesting.......
indeed....quite interesting indeed...
Z3RO19 Too bad nothing came of it, huh?
+Z3RO19 I'm sure loads of people were hoping someone would come back to life. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to.
Is it just me or does the guy look like Christian Slater?
give that man a new pair of socks
"Can the Lord of Light bring them all back to life?"
So funny you should say that because... 😈🧟♀️🪨🖤
I have a huge crush for Matt after watching this!
When you see our lingo in subtitles, us Northern Irish really do butcher the English language lol. Good reaction shot mate.
i can smell his sock .....eurk......
woooh-oly shit......lool
I'm pretty sure many of us Americans are secretly in love with all kinds of foreign accents. Northern Irish is one of my favorites. :)
Thank you!
Why did he say that about Prison Break? I've never watched it but what did he mean by that lol
It has an emotional ending and he'd just watched it a few days before.
norn iron for the win!
So it's called The Red Wedding coz your face turns red after watching it 😂
(SMALL SPOILER ALERT) hah, I love how the guy says "that wasn't even in the book"... actually im 100% sure that guy hasn't read the books cause robb dies like that and catelyn aswell but he doesn't bring his wife (Jeyne, this is her name in the book atleast).... and to all the true fans, no she was not preggos when this happened in the books -.- buy as i stated this does happen in the books and there is another large feast that someone dies in >:D im sure almost everyone will laugh though O_O
Robb's wife doesn't die in the books. That's the "particularly brutal" event I was referring to.
AWWW WOOOT??
"I'm fuming"
oh my god him stockings!!
haha.. what accent is this? are these guys scousers?
stick around more people will go and we'll be introduced to new characters .
Love the accents
They are speaking English - why subtitled?
Grrrr I'm so mad!!! Slit that poor innocent girls throat Catelyn. It blows my mind how many people are happy that Catelyn slits the girls throat. She's like the only one there who did absolutely NOTHING to deserve any of this. Not saying the Stark's deserved it either, but no matter the intentions, their actions are still what caused this.
HBKCommish well she actually slits one of Walders Grandsons throats, the poor guy was pretty much like Hodor, he was harmless and hated violence, she knew that and killed him anyway.
She swore on her honor as a Tully and a Stark, she had to do it
Killing the innocent girl was more of a stain on her honour than breaking her oath would have been.
It is to show how upset she is, overtaken by rage and despair, something that she would never ordinarily do. Very powerful - I love how Michelle Fairley makes it so casual to show how she is so lost that she doesn't even care that she's killing an innocent
Has anyone checked on this guy to make sure that he fully recovered? 😅
Needs subtitles, has to be northern irish :p
Amber leaf, fuck yeah! ;)
When/if Sandor dies I will have a breakdown. Literally, I haven't read all the books that are available so, but if it he does I will be writing letter to George RR Martin. I mean when he killed off Ygritte I cried. So sad.
What book are you on?
i laughed because you were just one episode away from it when you wrote this.
Imagine how annoying it must be for george to see how people freak about this only 13 fuckin years since the book came out -.-
Nah, he's quite satisfied I'd say. There is a bit with him on a talkshow seeing reactions to RW and liking it.
You do have an accent. An American accent.
Catelyn, me honey
Then you'll enjoy this! Search "Matthew McCourt Old Pine".
Yay Prison Break lol
1:55
i love irish people
I want to smell the guy's feet in this video
fookin' Irish
these guys are speaking latin?
Irish and Norwegian
kmvoss I feel like I hear a Scottish accent. Nonetheless, the are indeed speaking in English.
Dirge Mage That's just McCourt. The Derry accent is a goddamn mess!
Darren Todd Sounds like you're an idiot. It's a Northern Irish accent.
>horrified much
Subtitles? But... They are speaking English.
And Norwegian
Thomas McKie where are you getting Norwegian from? lol
Sounded like it for a second lol
+iagorincon Some people can't understand english so easily but they can read . It's good for foreigners .
dude wash your socks or get a new pair
Why is everybody so attatched to Robb Stark? He was the most boring character in the show.
that's ur own opinion
Yea I found him boring too, they got me interested right at the end and then they killed his ass lol.
Your opinion.
Sweetp000433 Me too I like Jon and Arya
The King in the North! Lol.
Wwhhhaaaaaoly fuck
jon snow is a true stark but he is also targeryan.
Ser Arthur Dayne did not rape Lyanna, he is like Ned Stark, carries himself with a high degree of honour, atleast this was my interpretation
+CollinDUBS Ser Rhaegar Targeryan*
dihoxide rhaegar was never knighted. Once again, correct me if im wrong...
No, he was just a knight protecting the tower where she was for Rhaegar Targaryen. Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen are Jon's parents. He is both a Stark and a Targaryen.
celinhabr1
didn't i just say that?
