If you want to use a case you can get a plastic ammo box from Harbor freight or this pelican case. Животные
I’ve been looking at building something like this and wanted to say you did a great job explaining all the things to look out for with this type of project. I’m no stranger to this sort of soldering and electrical work but I’ve learned some of these lessons the hard way over the years. Good work in calling them out for others!
Nice project. The only thing I would say is to keep an eye on the cheap trickle charger from HF. I had one just spontaneously stop working.
I think that for most people the battery backup will be a thing that gets installed and never gets moved thereafter. So in all honesty the travel case is probably not necessary. If I were to do it, I would go with an automotive or marine battery in the garage and just run the wire through the walls to the tank. That's enough capacity to run a couple pumps, an airstone, and maybe a fan to cool the tank if it starts getting too hot. Hell, if you want to get real ambitious you could hook it to a solar cell to give you prolonged battery life in the event of a longer power outage.
Dude TAHNK YOU! I bit off more than I can chew with a project form work and you just showed me step by step what i needed to do! Thank you so much!
JayRockO741 glad it helped ;)
Nice video, enjoy your attention to detail
Bout time lol ! Lol I get to complete this project now
Awesome!! Gotta get on that
Pretty much you do away with the power source and run the plug part of wave pump through the battery so I can still use the controller for my hygger wave pump still.... So if power goes out it will stop charging and work the pump
Hi, great video! I was wondering if I can use the ac power chord that came with my gyre pump or if I have to buy a new one to wire up? Same question for the barrel plug that came with the pump. Let me know please and thank you!
Can you explain how to piggyback an additional battery and how to hook up a second lead for a second pump?
Nice DIY. Where did you get the barrel connector for the Gyre???? Thanks.
Reefkpr amazon
You could use a 2 pin connector and leave the plug removable
Or buy a simple UPS that will run whatever he wants for less work and maybe less money. Love a good diy though.
Does this plug in to the wave pump and turn to battery if the power turn off?
Hi I have a question on poly lab one. Does it have to be dosed daily? I see it says measurements but dosent specify how often to dose
Bellends Reef yes typically it is daily as your tank is consuming elements every hour. You can get away with every other day but ideally daily
So this wont automatically cut on when the power goes off right? You have to plug it in when the power goes off
looks there is no relay switch so it won't automatically do it for you.
Do you still use this backup
I am interested but I couldn't find your email! thanks
