    Great videos which are always concisely and professionally presented so kudos to you guys. However I've noticed that you never seem to mention that PAT testers should carry out function tests before awarding passes, at work I always carry out function tests on "every" device I test before awarding a pass; might be worth a mention on your videos. Dot the i's and cross the T's 😏

    Hi. I have a question. How do I do a PAT test for appliances which included electronic parts, like coffee machines?
    Thank you for answer

    Do you have to unplug all connected peripherals before testing a PC?

    • @SeawardElectronic
      @SeawardElectronic  5 лет назад +1

      Hi ForestCat_Peter, Our tech support depatrment have advised - It is best practice to test the cables first, and then test them plugged in. If you test the cables first, you would be able to determin if they are faulty before running through the test with them connected. It makes it easier to pick up any faults. Hope this helps.

    How do I change the insulation resistance test voltage to 250 V on a PAC3760 DL?

    Hi, sorry have a quick question.
    When an item is due for retesting, do you use a new unique ID or use the current unique ID for that item.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks 😊

      Hi Kai, this is dependant on the user them selves- we would recommend that you do use the same Asset ID as this will keep a specific ID for the specific appliance. Thank you.

    HELP.. for a tv.. You would do the lead and then lead and telly together on 250v test? or in my case my pat tester has class 1 test IT200mA. thanks kai

    • @SeawardElectronic
      @SeawardElectronic  6 лет назад

      Hi Kai,
      That is correct, you would test the lead independently, and then the monitor and lead together. The test would be completed using the lower test voltage of 250V, as done with IT equipment. Please see the RUclips link provided below that demonstrates how to test IT equipment, as testing a television set would be done in the same manor as a PC monitor.

      Thank you

    Why is the PrimeTest 250+ not available in Australia and why does the Seaward website not have downloadable manuals for either a PAC 3790+ or a PAC3760 DL?

    • @SeawardElectronic
      @SeawardElectronic  6 лет назад

      Hi Kharkhov, in Australia the PrimeTest 250+ is known as the PAC3760 DL - you can find the manual on our partner's website here www.emona.com.au/Pages/support.html?manufacturer=24&product=5&submit=Go#.WtCwUS7wYkI Thanks!

      Thanks for the reply and the link to the 3760DL manual. I still cannot find a downloadable manual for a 3760 plus however. Also I note the PrimeTest 250 and 250+ are both capable of performing the 250v insulation test whereas the 3760 DL seems not to be. it therefore appears both the PrimeTest 250 and 250+ have superseded the 3760 DL. This being the case what are the plans for making the 250's available in Australia?

      Hi Kharkhov, it's probably best that you contact our distributor Emona directly and they will be able to help you further. You can find their contact details at www.emona.com.au/Pages/contact.html Thank you!

    When the tester shows 'Lo Load' sign while testing CPU and Monitors and we press the Class 1 button again to continue the test, is the tester still conducting a proper insulation resistance test? Is the insulation resistance test in such a case reliable?

    • @SeawardElectronic
      @SeawardElectronic  6 лет назад

      Hi Ashik,
      The Low Load message just means a switch mode power supply or no physical on/off switch. Ok to carry on with test as normal.
      Many thanks

    This only tells you what the test equipment indicates. You do not need fancy test equipment. 250v DC insulation test and an earth continuity will suffice. Oh and good eyesight.

    I didn't change the insulation resistance to 250V Will it damage the computer?

    • @SeawardElectronic
      @SeawardElectronic  6 лет назад +4

      Hi Chavi, thanks for your comment.
      The IET CoP tells us that electronic equipment should not be subjected to a 500V insulation resistance test unless the equipment conforms to EN60950. A majority of computers will comply with this standard and therefore testing these computers at 500v will not be a problem. Even computers not complying with the EN60950 standard may still be designed in such a way that 500v testing does not result in damage. There are however a very small number of computers, mainly older models, that could be affected by the 500v test and therefore to be 100% safe alternative test methods, for example the 250v insulation resistance test or a protective conductor current test, would be preferable.
      In this short video we are not able to go into all the technical details surrounding each test and so we tend to opt for the most cautious approach, in this case testing at 250v. In any event we would always refer those wanting more detailed guidance to the contents of the ITE CoP fourth Edition.
      Hope this helps!
