Hi Michael. I picked up Futures trading recently on TOS, and i've learned a few hard lessons i wish others would talk about more. I think they'd rather talk about how profitable and easy scalping 1 point on the ES is rather than the risks and costs. 1) on TDA, the cost for 1 contract of ES all in is $3.55. This fee is charged for both the buy and the sell, so the round trip is $7.10. As a 1 point movement on ES is worth $50, this means that 14% of your trading is chewed up in fees. That was a tough pill to learn after coming from stock and ETF trading. Note: TDA seems to be the most expensive here, other brokers like Trade Station are less than half the fees for futures, so I'm considering a move there, 2) time of day has a big impact, especially if scalping. The volatility before the market opens is much less, so trading ES at this time is preferable to catch the movements. After the market opens the movement is too frenatic for me. 3) the aforementioned fees are charged regardless of your P&L, so you get charged the same amount no matter if you make $200 or lose $400. if because of the price action you aren't going to get fully to 1 point, you may have to settle for +.25 a point which makes the fee as a percentage of the trade much worse. of course with the loss you need to cover the point loss amount too, so it's a double whammy. 4) again on the issue of scalping, setting stops is much more difficult. while i can easily set a limit order for my exit, setting a stop for risk management is tougher. the price easily swings a point or more as it heads in a particular direction, and you can easily lose $50 or more as the price heads south before it heads north again. i wish more people would talk about these issues, I can accept risk, but the fees were a bit of a shock as my profit taking wasn't accounting for so much being taken out on the trade (this is probably more of an issue with scalping I know). Just means i need to target more per day to cover the fees, which of course comes at greater risk. Anyway just thought I would pass these along while they are still fresh in my head.
is the comission fee per contract round trip or the fee will be $3.55 whether it's 1 or 5 contract regardless of the amount of contracts your trading? Thanks
@@mfs353 since writing this post, the fees have increased slightly to $2.25 commission + $1.35 misc fees = $3.60 per contract sale. That means a round trip of buy+sell is $7.20. But I have also learned that after establishing some history you can contact TDA and they will reduce your fees. Mine currently was reduced to $2.00. Not a big discount, but i hear that you can contact them each quarter and ask for additional discounts :) And no, unfortunately this is per contract, so if you buy 5 contracts the fee is x5.
The fees on TOS are high specially if trading micro sp... I spent a lot in fees.. if a point is 5 dlls, it means winning one point doesnot cover the fees.
@@MrGameMeister Thanks for taking the time to respond and ill definitely be calling them to ask for a discount cause if you're a small time trader or a beginner, this is shy of a highway robbery in bright daylight,

Can you explain the philosophy for setting of your stops? Most technical traders when doing risk management would target 2:1 or maybe 3:1 reward/risk ratio. Here you seem to be setting 1:1.75 or even 1:2 reward/risk. I understand with the price action you want to avoid getting stopped out, but to set such a ratio you really really really need to be confident with the trend.

I am seeing some of my mistakes via this video. Mistake #1 you're looking for a $1 move and I have a $7 minimum on the spy but I use 3 Bollinger bands, 50 SMA for trend direction and 15 EMA plus I use a ton of indicators but my way is way more cluttered and I'm not as accurate as I should be. I use 3 time frames, but I have only been trading MNQ as it is way easier than the S&P. However on the MNQ I like to get a $10 to $15 move and this week was so volatile I got a lot of $50 moves but I could kick my self as I had a $50 move and it went down $50 in a blink of an eye and I think I lost money on that trade as it was a panick sell so I like how you have the trade already identified for profit and loss as opposed to discipline. Nice job, that looks like fairly easy trading and very profitable.
Thanks for the video. I've been noticing that my scalps can sometimes take longer than others. It looks like it's primarily from sometimes buying the first leg of a pull-back and needing to wait for a second leg to form to become profitable. It definitely has felt riskier. It's happened so many times in my last hundred trades, but I didn't know it was actually a preferred pattern 😅 This'll save me time and money.
To my understanding this just proves how much we need an edge as investors because playing the market like everyone else just isn’t good enough. I've been quite unsure about investing in this current market and at the same time I feel it's the best time to get started on the market, what are your thoughts?
Since the crash, I've been in the red. I’m playing the long term game, so I'm not too worried but Jim Cramer mentioned there are still a lot of great opportunities, though stocks has been down a lot. I also heard news of a guy that made $250k from about $110k since the crash and I would really look to know how to go about this.
There are actually a lot of ways to make high yields in a crisis, but such trades are best done under the supervision of Financial advisor. I've been getting assisted by a FA for almost a year now, I started out with less than $200K and I'm just $19,000 short of half a million in profit.
You need a 2:1 win rate just to break even. If one of those trades get stopped out before you make your 1pt scalp, you're down $400. Seems very difficult considering price action isn't a guarantee, even with a high probability setup (overall bias, 2nd entry, trendline, EMA)...
Yea, I thought the same but English is not my 1st language so I struggle with my words. What is your opinion on scalping options & forex compared to the futures market? I think the spreads & the fees are more favourable for scalping
What futures broker do you suggest for beginners with very small accts. looking for the cheapest fees, cheapest feeds trading the ES mini. Also what is the smallest acct. possible for an ES mini not a MES.

Great video! I just started trading futures as well. I would love to know how you setup your stop loss, take profit automation? Would love a future video on that?
Michael your awesome. I never traded future E mini before but i do option with spy all the time, so i have two question if ES is base on S&P then both suppose correlation why their bar tick don't follow each other. also do future have time decay and how much different between the two. thank you
It’s too bad that with micro futures you really need a solid 2-5 points minimum to make the trade even worth placing, would you recommend more of like a 971-1600 tick for those set ups? I’ve finally become a more consistent profitable futures trader but I have been only trading time frames and have started to realize how much profit I’m missing out on not using ticks. Great video btw

These are some of the most useful videos for real life benefiting. Really appreciate the time you put into making these videos and sharing your knowledge with other's trying to learn. Is this done using a small account like $1000 or are you using bigger amounts of money to make that $300-650 dollar daily profit? If you have let's say $1000 to invest, what type of trading would be the best for making your money grow at the fastest time (if you had the knowledge and know how to utilize it correctly hypothetically).
With $1,000 you can easily trade commodities cdf like gold contracts and make $300 to $600 a day but you must know what your doing because you will be using leverage. I once did a $59,000 on week trade when WTI US crude oil dropped to negative prices and pulled all the way back up.
I am learning but I have noticed that when put a stop loss I lose my money more than winning. What I do is check weekly time frame, day time frame 1hour and I go in with 2mins max 5mins and I am out. I don’t put stop loss and I don’t leave my phone or computer to run like that.
The futures market he is trading (and also others like YM, Nasdaq, Russell 2000, gold, etc.) are open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week with a one hour break on weekday afternoons for maintenance. Thus, these futures open at 6pm Eastern time on Sunday night, and stay open until Friday afternoon at 5pm Eastern, again with 1 hour breaks from 5pm to 6pm for maintenance. Some futures markets (like grains) have different trading hours. Hope this helps.
Michael I like your two legged pullback idea but I am not so sure where you buy or sell. You said your method gives you 90to 95 percent certainty that you will win 1 point in scalping. Can you explain to me more by emailing me .
He uses bracket orders. It is predefined order with buy, sell & stop loss order based on your choice. For e.g. you can set you order as: buy at $10, sell at $12 (when price moves up) & stop loss sell at $8 when you lose trade.
Honestly i'm glad you did more explaining of thought process and of what you're looking for, great knowledge my dude

Hyey. I really love your videos. Can you please show how to put bracket orders on TOS for futures. I couldn't find anything online.
Impressive can you share more info?
Rebecca Noblett Roberts is my licensed manager. Search the name. and you’d find necessary details to work with to set up an appointment.
She appears to be well-educated and well-read. I ran a Google search for her name and came across her website; thank you for sharing.
Keep watching...keep learning.
Nice videos
Thanks Jay!
@@JRDeVilliers I’ve never traded options or forex, I will probably look into it soon.
@@andrewlopez5546 Do you trade futures using the longer time frames and do you find you are more successful than the lower time frames for scalping?
Amazing live scalping vids, keep them coming as it's really good info you give. Very knowledgeable
Love how you explain everything, that’s a new sub right there 💪💪💪
What futures broker do you suggest for beginners with very small accts. looking for the cheapest fees, cheapest feeds trading the ES mini. Also what is the smallest acct. possible for an ES mini not a MES.
Michael, your explanation on buying stops as one of your trading strategies is awesome. It has helped me to understand trading psychology a little bit better. By the way, how long have you been on this trading journey? Thanks so much!
I have been trading for about 6years but started to see real results my 3rd year after I got the SQB strategy from Yuril Zubong. I was among his first SQB 500 students that changed my trading for real. He is accepting 500 people again this year and I think I can get anyone in. Just send him a mail and keep in touch with me if you are interested.
Michael, today is 8/7/22. Are you trading currently and if you are how can I watch you and follow along tomorrow if I wanted to? Thank you, William
Michael,
Your style of scalping is exactly what I like. I'm on thinkorswimdo you think I could use the same scalping technique on their platform or should I use the same platform you are using
you can use the same setup on thinkorswim
Great video! I just started trading futures as well. I would love to know how you setup your stop loss, take profit automation? Would love a future video on that?
i love this guys energy
Hey Michael, good videos, I learn a lot from you.
How much capital you trade with ?
Wow you made 625 in just 3hrs and then you going too your 9-5 job. Your smart brotha. I need master this Skill and system you're doing
Michael your awesome. I never traded future E mini before but i do option with spy all the time, so i have two question if ES is base on S&P then both suppose correlation why their bar tick don't follow each other. also do future have time decay and how much different between the two. thank you
Nice videos, Good work! Paul
Great video! Which platform do you use to trade?
It’s too bad that with micro futures you really need a solid 2-5 points minimum to make the trade even worth placing, would you recommend more of like a 971-1600 tick for those set ups? I’ve finally become a more consistent profitable futures trader but I have been only trading time frames and have started to realize how much profit I’m missing out on not using ticks. Great video btw
Way to go!!! Thanks for the info!
Nice work man!! Would love to see more of those videos!! Great input as well!!
Scalping is the way!!!
Thanks man! Scalping is definitely one of my favorite trading styles
Excellent video, I am learning and loosing money, how do you set up the buy, sell and stop limits so fast? can you show me the set ups?
Which software are you using? Good video series. I don’t use Facebook so I can’t see the group. Thx
do you use a hot key to place orders faster? like do you have a specific hot key for putting a buy limit order?
Mr Chin pls did you use a 4h chat for this illustration?
Hi mike what time zone do you live in? Is this pre market trading?
Thanks!
I want to learn so bad lol its just so hard and i have a few questions. Where do you buy the "contracts"? How much are they? and do you buy at market when you see the two legged pullback forming?
What time you start trading please? I am paper trading right on Tradovate.

Michael, I’m watching your scalping series 001 and upwards. They are excellent and thank you for doing them and inspiring people.
Could you tell me where you gained your understanding of scalping? Was it trial and error or did you read/watch others?
I’ve watched your videos but still feel I’m missing some of the underpinning knowledge to fully grasp what your saying, what the candles indicate to you.
I’d love to do what you do I feel I just need to get the basics fully grasped first
I know this feeling to well.. im not trading live atm but learning and trying to do so soon.. what helped me alot were the videos of the trader „rayner teo“ on youtube. This dude is really good in explaining and its all for free on youtube!
How do you set it up to make the one runner sell automatically when it goes down a certain amount?
you can set it up automatically. he has a video on setting up ninjatrader 8
Your video is really cool. Which trading platform are you using?
Do you have a moving average to help identify double moves for beginners? Can you do a video on this? I see some pull backs but no td all...
hold up, you can buy and sell options on Futures?
does the futures market have better times of day to go long or short like the equities market?
Thanks Michael, that was very good but are you able to do a complete beginners video?
Hi, I love your video and I saw all of them .... pretty much .... I have to tell you im completely new in this " world " , only one thing I don't understand , how you choose when is time to make a trading ? what is your time frame on the graphic ? thank you and please keep going ?
How much are you spending on each trade? How much is it to go long/short 1 ES and how much is it to buy 1 ES call/put ? Thanks
It doesnt make sense to me and I am a high level futures trader. What time frame is he on?
he's on 2000 tick chart.
You can see the countdown at the right bottom corner.
Hey cool setup, what broker do you use. If I did a similar setup it would require abt $50,000 in margin and an overall acc. value of nearly $180,000
Ninja Trader.
How much money per contract? Trade spy options but want to go to futures pdt rule is killing me on profits not being able to trade more
Keep up the good work
Will do!
This is exactly what I'm looking for.

I am learning but I have noticed that when put a stop loss I lose my money more than winning. What I do is check weekly time frame, day time frame 1hour and I go in with 2mins max 5mins and I am out. I don’t put stop loss and I don’t leave my phone or computer to run like that.
Dude ur a boss! That was badass! Where can I learn how u learned?
what time does the future markets open?? Im a newbie ibeen researching ive been getting diff times..im interested in YM ES ZB UB eastern time ?
The futures market he is trading (and also others like YM, Nasdaq, Russell 2000, gold, etc.) are open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week with a one hour break on weekday afternoons for maintenance. Thus, these futures open at 6pm Eastern time on Sunday night, and stay open until Friday afternoon at 5pm Eastern, again with 1 hour breaks from 5pm to 6pm for maintenance. Some futures markets (like grains) have different trading hours. Hope this helps.
I Think Trade Start callback Option given In meta Futures App Is The Best For These Type Of Trades
Michael I like your two legged pullback idea but I am not so sure where you buy or sell. You said your method gives you 90to 95 percent certainty that you will win 1 point in scalping. Can you explain to me more by emailing me .
Hi, is this CFDs on futures?
I didn’t understand how the runner works. How do you set up this kind of an order
It's called an "OCO" order. "one cancels the other order.
You should get the *SQB COURSE AND STRATEGY* at this early stage before you get initiated into the propaganda disguised as education on youtube.
Would you suggest start trading after market since it moves slower?
Amazing trading! Thanks for sharing.
Great video!
Question: How do you automatically enter your positions and very quick to change your stop sell, etc.?
He uses bracket orders. It is predefined order with buy, sell & stop loss order based on your choice. For e.g. you can set you order as: buy at $10, sell at $12 (when price moves up) & stop loss sell at $8 when you lose trade.
Faizan A Thank you for response!!
You part of the Facebook community?
Lina I’m glad to share knowledge. No I don’t use any social media unfortunately.
