Dang it, couldn’t resist; Laskin Road (beginning of video) was named after Mr. Laskin who owned cottages from what I believe was Birdneck Road. He had a road built to the oceanfront from his cottages for his guests. The service road has been a source of contention for decades and they are finally going away to widen the road. I hate the traffic circle as Laskin went all the way to Atlantic Ave back in the day. There, did it, feel better 😄
Lived here 1967 to 1972 and 1981 to 1983. Lots of great memories of Pembroke Mall, Military Circle Mall, Norfolk Scope, etc. Graduated from Green Run High School in 1982 (went there one year only). Went to Western Branch Elementary in Chesapeake 1970 to 1972.
33:34 Bonus look of a block of Duke St.! Missed the left turn at the end of West VB to W. Olney Rd 😲! I'm sure you're not the first or the last. I'm impressed how you you were able to drive from Kings Grant Rd to Newtown Rd, including the Pembroke/Town Center area without stopping at a light. Almost unheard of! Did you pay off someone at VB Public Works to sync the lights for you? 😜
Technical point but that first 5 blocks is 32nd Street, not Laskin Road. Virginia Beach's redoing of this whole stretch of the resort area has definitely altered the eastern end of US58/Laskin Road over the past 20 years from the circle to the oceanfront, but the city doesn't really care about posted routes unless it's I-264.
I've never been to "Virgin Beach" - or Norfolk, either. US 58 is the cross-state predecessor to Interstate 64 - which parallels the eastern - but not western - half of US 58.
This film focuses straight ahead too much. We can not see the things we are actually passing. I am intimately familiar with this route but barely recognize it because of this.

Hi this is Felix in GUAM, I use to be a resident in Prince George, VA.
Been there too! You make me homesick away from home!👍
Love being able to see the place before I go. Thanks.

Thanks for this.
My pleasure!

An entire video devoted to 58? Sorry hon’, the gutters will have to clean themselves 😄
Haha yeah I like to get off the freeway sometimes and show what the road through town looks like.

I watched this because I wanted to see water. I saw nothing interesting.
