I love the "it's a societal construct" argument so much. Societal construct means that something was made by society- like language. Fun thing to consider, just because it was made by society doesn't change or invalidate the fact that what was made is based on reality and fact, again, like language. I mean just a simple question: Why is it so difficult to accept someone's desire to be called a man or a woman if they so choose? If Bob changes his name to Jack because he doesn't like the name Bob, you'll call him Jack, would you not? If Bob changes his name to Jasmine, why is it so difficult for you to call 'em Jasmine and use whatever pronouns they desire? There are some who use the argument of "I identify as a pilot/doctor/whatever" and that argument falls flat. Why does it fall flat, because one's an identity and the other's a profession. You're not forced to date trans people if you don't want to, but at the very least you can show basic level of human respect and refer to them in their chosen identity. Some people say "Don't ask me to accept you when you couldn't accept yourself for who you are" and to that I say, say you get a new haircut or new clothes or get plastic surgery to fix a birh defect or something, why should I, a cisgender white guy, "normal" by your standards, accept you for what you chose to look like when you couldn't even accept the way you looked like before? It's a very simple case of cognitive dissonance, and if you take a moment to think about it, you'll see that it's just wasted effort and baseless hate towards something that is different than what you are used to. I'm a very factual based person, I like facts. Man and Woman as genders, are a social construct the same way gender roles are a social construct. Back in the old days, the gender roles were such that the Man was the sole breadwinner and the Woman was the housekeeper and, though very brutal yet honest reality of days past, a "baby-maker". These days, men and women are equal, and I for one, am glad for it, as I oppose any view that would serve to paint women as "lesser". So I really just want to ask, if society could adapt to provide equal rights for men and women, why is it so difficult to adapt to providing people with acceptance by conforming to their chosen identities? All you gotta do is use She/Her instead of He/Him or He/Him instead of She/Her. It's not that difficult, and it makes the trans person happy, so why go out of your way to rob a trans person of their happiness? If you are cisgender and do not wish to be referred to as the other gender, why should transgender people not be granted the same treatment? No one's denying biological sex either, but if someone wants to be called X instead of Y, what's really stopping you other than baseless hatred? I mean just a simple question: Why is it so difficult to accept someone's desire to be called a man or a woman if they so choose?
If Bob changes his name to Jack because he doesn't like the name Bob, you'll call him Jack, would you not?
If Bob changes his name to Jasmine, why is it so difficult for you to call 'em Jasmine and use whatever pronouns they desire?
There are some who use the argument of "I identify as a pilot/doctor/whatever" and that argument falls flat. Why does it fall flat, because one's an identity and the other's a profession. You're not forced to date trans people if you don't want to, but at the very least you can show basic level of human respect and refer to them in their chosen identity.
Some people say "Don't ask me to accept you when you couldn't accept yourself for who you are" and to that I say, say you get a new haircut or new clothes or get plastic surgery to fix a birh defect or something, why should I, a cisgender white guy, "normal" by your standards, accept you for what you chose to look like when you couldn't even accept the way you looked like before?
It's a very simple case of cognitive dissonance, and if you take a moment to think about it, you'll see that it's just wasted effort and baseless hate towards something that is different than what you are used to.
I'm a very factual based person, I like facts. Man and Woman as genders, are a social construct the same way gender roles are a social construct. Back in the old days, the gender roles were such that the Man was the sole breadwinner and the Woman was the housekeeper and, though very brutal yet honest reality of days past, a "baby-maker". These days, men and women are equal, and I for one, am glad for it, as I oppose any view that would serve to paint women as "lesser".
So I really just want to ask, if society could adapt to provide equal rights for men and women, why is it so difficult to adapt to providing people with acceptance by conforming to their chosen identities? All you gotta do is use She/Her instead of He/Him or He/Him instead of She/Her. It's not that difficult, and it makes the trans person happy, so why go out of your way to rob a trans person of their happiness? If you are cisgender and do not wish to be referred to as the other gender, why should transgender people not be granted the same treatment?
No one's denying biological sex either, but if someone wants to be called X instead of Y, what's really stopping you other than baseless hatred?
I like logic, and going out of your way to make someone miserable because you don't agree that they should be happy in their own unique way that doesn't harm anybody else, defies all logic.
Can you just see this guy being conscripted into the military? Can you just see him on the front line? This is America, this is what we have to fight with.
Although I do agree with the man in the suit on some of the points, the speaker in the suit was extremely arrogant, disrespectful, narcissistic, and overall very unprofessional. They were rude, inconsiderate, and very condescending.

While I agree with Charlie's assertions and believe he's a very smart guy, I also think he's being a jerk in this video. He mocked the guy with the question as soon as he knew the guy's opinion was different than his, then he dismissed him when he got mocked back. Charlie, I think you can represent better.

Blaire White does not claim to be a woman. Blaire states quite clearly he is a Trans-woman. I agree with Charlie's premise. You are not something just because you want to be or feel like it. Gender Dysphoria is a real condition, albeit very rare.

I don't think Mr. Kirk has a good look here. One example is: that the guy said "rambling", because he couldn't hear, was simply an incorrect choice of words and then he was dismissed. Also, it is no surprise that a young adult who probably doesn't speak in public very often, is less articulate than the speaker. Generally, I like these videos, but not this one.

He made his little remark about "rambling" because he was trying to be a smart ass and he was dismissed for being disrespectful when Charlie was being nothing but civil towards him. He didn't deserve to waste other people's time any longer at that point.
It has NOTHING to do with public speaking and being articulate. You only feel sorry for the kid ( man) because he may have gotten his feelings hurt by a person who may be more articulate.

i gotta say its not one of kirk’s best moments. the kid got under his skin with the pickle jar comment. u can tell that he changes his debate tactics by attacking the dude’s stature. not the ideal route to take but still delivered a solid message

I just dont understand, who the person was, who decided that treating a mental illness (gender dysphoria) should be to try to completely alter that person jnstead of trying to help then come to terms with who they actually are and love themselves for who they really are.
