Bought this mic used 21 years ago and just broke it out of storage to use for the first time. Just bought an SSL2+ for phantom power, can't wait to hear it for the first time! Thanks for the video it inspired me!
I bought one new when they came out and I've found it substandard in every way to the NTK. I've tried it as a room mic, on amps, acoustic guitars (neck, body, and over the shoulder), as part of a stereo pair, and with a variety of preamps... the brightness is just too overpowering and the body is sooo brittle; maybe mine came from the factory with a flaw, but Rode has great QC, so I don't suspect so. I've held onto it bc I've heard with an RK-47 capsule the high quality of the Rode build becomes something much more rounded and full-bodied... or, more like the NTK - which is about the best sounding mic I've encountered. But I guess we all have our favorites 🤣🤣🤣 Well done video, BTW. I'll pull that old NT2 out again and give it a try with video... THAT I haven't tried with it!
I bought two brand new when they came out and I concur, my experience was similar to yours. I’ve had a bad impression of Rode ever since. Brittle, bright, and boring.
Hard mic to find! Am happy to say that I own one. Have had it for 20 years! I keep it tucked away in its box most of the time these days (I'm not really active anymore). I think it's worth mentioning that this mic is a Neumann U87-inspired mic (some would come right out & call it a clone). You can see what they were getting at with this one. Lovely mic for vocals. I need to dig mine out & get active again!
The Rode NT2, my first mic bought it in 1999 for $250?, and still have it (my go to the Senn 416). The NT2 wasn't in production long. They had to change the name, and body, from the NT2 to the NT2-A due to Neumann lawsuit.
Very useful - Had this microphone for decades but even the manual doesn't explain it as clearly as this
Robert, Well done mate. This is so far, the best explanation I have seen...keep up the good work
Thank you so much!
Excellent presentation with honest and accurate articulation....to the point. Well done guy's
Thank you!
Very well explained. I now have clarity about mics, that I didn't have, before I watched this. Thank you.
Thank you!
What a beautiful microphone, good articulation in the video too
I bought this mic in the 90" brand new still never used it because i didn't knew how to connect and use it? It was in the 90" one of the best mics..
Agreed, the Rode NT2 is one of the best mics ever made.

That's awesome!
Nice video man ! Have you tried or have the Neumann TLM 102 / 103 in your Mic collection?
sorry if it's been mentioned but what recorder did you use for this? It sounds amazing!

The person who recommended it to me long ago compared it to the U87, so that actually makes sense.

what are you running the NT2 through?
Does it provide two different outputs when used as 8 pattern ?? When two singers are singing simultaneously.
the original NT2 doesn't do figure of eight
Hello i have the rode NT2 but i have to push the gain at 75 percent to be able to record. Is that the case with you or my capsule is damaged?
The capsule must be damaged, I recently bought one and have no volume problems but it’s most likely a cheap fix! Just get it checked out!
@@theskins151 how much did it cost you?
@@raphaelchiti6164 200
Thanks
Raphael how much did you pay for this mic..?
"I need lotion" lol
Hi , this is a rode nt2A or a rode nt2000 ??because it is not specified
Thank you 🙈
This mic is a little older and is just an NT2. I believe this version was discontinued, but it's probably most similar to the NT2A.
Nt2
It's discontinued. The NT2 is superior to the NT2A
You really needed a de-esser for this video
For those that want to know its actually pronounced RUEDE
Am i the only one that dont think thats a Rode nt2?
