I was always offput how Chanse only wants to play Elf Spellcasters. He has talked about his main one before and has played two in Smosh Dnd games. Now that I know it’s part of this connected story he’s exploring, I think that’s awesome. Respect.
I'm so glad they addressed the Kevin issue lmao. i remember watching that episode where they talked about kevin in the first few minutes, then going back and REWATCHING the previous episode to figure out who he was/where he came from, only to find nothing!!!
And learning in this vid they made a short to intro Kevin, and I never saw it. (I don't watch short form content so I never think to check for it.) 40:33 is when they start talking about it here. _Edited to add:_ Found it! It's actually in the beginning of episode #6 during the recap "last time on Sword AF"
Pretty sure the talking to the boar's head part was in the same scene they cut, because they referenced it as if it happened already but I couldn't find anything
I found it! Not a short, but they *did* put it in - They *snuck it in* during the "last time on Sword AF" at the beginning as if we met him last episode 😂 Sneaky, sneaky!
Hello, Odd Jacobson/Oddeum here! Just wanted to say thank you all so much for the opportunity to the do the character art (and some backgrounds!) for SwordAF, its been a massive joy, and so surreal to see my art in smosh videos. I've so looked forward to the biweekly (then weekly) updates, though I've been too shy about commenting lol. The fandom of smosh has been so encouraging and kind to me, which is not always the case with fandoms, and the whole experience has been just lovely. Here's to season 2 !
My favorite twist was rumpum coming back as the soul of the prince. It was fully improved, brought to life by the hilarious sequence of choices by the characters, those being Fernies mending and bugs praying, along with Damien's quick thinking; it felt so intertwined with the story and so real. Overall an awesome series to watch and I'm SO excited for season two
“Ze pairvairt!” was hilarious, but I think my favorite scene in the entire series was the performance “battle” that turned out to be completely unnecessary. LMAO
yes! i had no interest in DND before because it was so unfamiliar to me, but this was such a beginner-friendly series to watch and i absolutely adored it
Same. I've been meaning to get into dnd for years but I couldn't seem to grasp it from the video essays on youtube. This series was my "aha" moment, like ah, I get the system now!
Maybe I missed it but Damien deserves so much praise for being such an excellent voice actor! It added so much for me who primarily listened to this series
The way Angela played out Bug's storyline is so cool now that I get to hear her explain it! Bug's journey of trying to fit in and fight and act like other hero's and the people he looks up to, but then realizing and learning to be who he is and fight as himself. Amazing, I'm so excited to see more of him next season.
I like to think that one of the little easter eggs in Sword AF IS that, like Fernie, Shayne also does not now how money works and sustains himself off of office Lacroix. (Which is what the moonwater is probably based off)
I really want to feel more connected to Koda as a character. He seems so serious and a little distant, which will make it really cool to see what made him that way or have moments in the future that bring out a vulnerable side. Like a good anime somber/too cool tough character. Those characters tend to have really rewarding arches.
I second that. I just recently started to check out D&D content and of course that led me to Critical Role. I would love to go through the entire series, but I feel like I want to WATCH instead of just listen to the podcast version because you get to see the facial expressions and interactions, but it's such a long time to sit and watch... this was just the right amount of time to sit and give my full attention without feeling like I spent all night on it
What a funny, funny group of people. I love the moments no one could predict, like the prince being a plate, and then further extension, Fernie fixing the plate. I was 😂😭☠️
I’m trying to find a way to say the thing I appreciate most was everyone’s improv, and the flexibility of Damien to not only accommodate the humor and the off the wall plans (praying a soul into a body) but to work it in so naturally that the story feels seamless. One of my favorite dnd sessions cannot wait for the next season
Bro I thought I was tripping about Kevin. I usually watch these in the background while I do something else, but I still make sure I pay attention to major details of the story and Damien's side characters so I don't get lost on who he was playing at the moment. Safe to say I was baffled to hear about a moth that was just inside Fernie come out and talk around the latter parts of the campaign acting like he was there the whole time. I just chalked it up to an inside joke y'all had, but I'm glad we're getting like an OVA/DLC type of video with him in it now lmao
dont forget to post episode compilations! some people like to wait for things to finish before they watch and this series deserves way more views than it has!
Damien, freaking, hass! You are WORTHY! Your do not need to keep telling us this is your first time DM-ing. You did amazing and I know the community can be difficult and you’re on a platform that could be judged but I would encourage you to own how brilliant you did. This had all of your joy, and inspiration seeped into every episode. We all loved it and love you, allow yourself to be new at it and grow. Also allow yourself to own that you did so well!!
God, this really was one of my favorite series on Smosh Games. Such an entertaining storyline and band of characters. Everyone behind this series absolutely killed it.
Gotta thank Oddeum for the incredible art and thanks Spencer for hiring her. Incredible work from everyone and Damien for organizing this epic campaign.
I literally have the Sword AF playlist saved and keep replaying all of them! I also watched Doard AF but in Sword AF everyone was so into these characters that it became so immersive. I want to give everyone a round of applause but I want to highlight Damien’s efforts as the DM. He painted every scene so vividly, making everything flow from the story to the characters. I loved how everyone had distinct personalities; Koda was so sassy and gave off regal vibes but also had silly moments, Dolores was such a mom that was sexually repressed, Fernie was so comical but like also surprisingly smart, and Bug had such a character arc, from having low self esteem to becoming into a powerful castle moving badass!!! Honestly I wish I had other people I could discuss this series with because I already had so many theories ( I know I’m reading to deep into it). Also thank you to the Smosh crew who worked behind the scenes to make this happen, we see and appreciate you!!!
As much as Damien says it I will too. This was Damien’s FIRST time DMing. I can’t express how happy we are with what you did here. Congratulations to everyone on the cast and crew for creating this beautiful story
I want a four book series, one for each of the season elves. So excited to see how Damien incorporates whatever got bleeped into the lore. I also hope that once all of that has been revealed, we get a short of the clip they actually cut out. Seems like Chanse is really passionate about that story and I would love to hear it from his perspective.
I love how passionate Damien is about this! With this being my first real intro to DND, it was fun to see everyone really get into their characters lol
I can’t wait for season 2. Hopefully you guys do more with Fernie, because he is hilarious. I love how he can basically go from being this innocent, slow, humorous tree man one minute to a wooden Transformer when the situation calls for it.
Hearing their thoughts and reactions to the growth of this series shows their efforts in making these kinds of videos, I started to understand and enjoy D&D after watching these and never realized how fun this game could be!
I really love that they felt Sword AF happened alongside the audience. I don’t typically watch RUclips series day of release but I made sure to watch almost every episode Wednesday nights to myself and it felt very special. Really excited for the next season
I never knew how to play even though I grew up when D&D was so huge. You have inspired me to start looking for a group to play with and I’m 50 years old. I loved all my your characters but Damien was my favorite. I hope I find a DM like him.
ngl doing the sword AF at the same time period that baldurs gate 3 ended up getting so popular, was also super big factor in hype being built, very smart/lucky
I love how everyone in this cast is willing to be honest with their knowledge or lack thereof in DnD and take the time to learn with their characters. This is so inspiring as an aspiring DnD player and DM. I love you all and can't wait for more incredible content from you guys. (ps. Ruben's my favorite)
I had always been interested in playing D&D but I thought it would be too difficult for my smooth little brain to comprehend, until I watched this series. Seeing the creativity in the characters and storytelling and the fact that some of y'all had never played before inspired me to convince my friends (who have also never played) to start a campaign. They thought the same way I did at first and said they didn't know how to play, so I suggested they watch Sword AF because it helped me learn as I watched while being incredible entertainment. They watched and were excited to get our own campaign going! This really was an awesome season y'all and I'm pumped to see more!
y’all truly got me to jump and start playing, after my friends had been begging me for years. this was so much fun to watch and i’m so excited to watch more
I loved the moments where bug just broke and had to take time to process really difficult character developments while still being expected to solve puzzles, it felt real
it's been four months and i've already watched the whole series 3 times already. I am really looking forward to the second season! This also got me into dnd :) (Also Damien is a great dm!)
Sword AF is honestly one of the best series I've seen in a long time, you guys are such joy to watch and I cannot wait for season 2 and hopefully beyond
I absolutely loved this season. I've never been into dnd but it was so great watching everyone explore it and it's just so great to see as a smosh fan.
This group is just so special. Everyone brings their own thing to the table and it comes together in this awesome sandwich. RIP Gunthar. Long live dm Damien tho
I don't know if it would be possible with everyones schedule at smosh, but for me i would love longer episodes in season 2. Loving it, great job to everyone involved.
Board af legacy and sword af are by far my 2 favorite series on any smosh channel, they're just so damn good and unique, i cant wait for more like this
I'm really glad to see you guys sitting together and having a confab about how things went for the first season, I'm greatly looking forward to season two! :D
I didn't watch smosh until like 3 mo the ago and I kept avoiding this series for some reason but after smosh is christmas I had a bug for their story telling and this was just so amazing I forgot it was smosh I just saw them as there characters by the end I loved this
This makes me so excited for season 2. I love D&D content and have wondered how Smosh members would act in a game like this. It’s truly amazing to see such freedom of creativity being displayed in all of your content. Keep up the amazing work. Can’t wait for S2!
I had never even heard of Smosh Games until i found and watched this Sword AF series, it was incredibly well done, and i really appreciate Damien's efforts as the DM, he was the special sauce, the x factor for the show, excited for season two!
I’ve always had an interest in dnd but I’ve never really had an opportunity to play and I always felt like it was difficult to just jump into other channels campaigns without a deep understanding of the game but this series really ignited a passion for dnd for me. Watching the new players grow and evolve in how they approached the game and how happy everyone seemed experiencing this together was such a treat! Damien did a great job of giving everyone enough information to understand what was going on and what their options were without giving them too much guidance and occasionally bending the rules to serve the story. I absolutely loved everyone’s characters and the approaches they took to developing them, they really let their personalities shine. I’m so glad you were able to make this happen and I can’t wait for season 2!
I honestly don’t know what I love more, watching the campaigns or getting to watch the end-of-season retrospectives. Thank y’all so much for the entertainment, I can’t wait for season 2!
I wish Damien could get more praise as a first time DM! You can tell it isn't his forte but he's learning and researching and getting so much better! I loved that he was always so open to ideas that the party had and letting rules bend just because it was cool. ie: Bug animating the entire mimic castle lmao Was such a cool moment that Damien absolutely could have shot down due to the rules but let it happen because he knew it was fucking awesome! Great job Damien!
This is my favirite series smosh has done. The fact that i actually cried at the end bc of how emotional it was for me is proof enough. You guys did such an amazing job with this and i cant wait to see season 2. 🧡 love you all so much.
Please, please, please, give us an update on season 2! I love this show, I love the characters, and I love seeing the players grow and learn about their abilities and using them in astonishing ways. It is amazing!
i cant wait to see what everyone does next with this, the game was fantastic and watching everyone get into it more and show off their inner child and creativity was just so entertaining and made my heart glow :)
This show was great! I looked forward to it every week! I sadly couldn't watch it the airing day, but i made sure to watch it as soon as i could! I can't wait for season 2!!
I've been a lurker fan for a long time now and honestly, just seeing all of you together, having a good time, doing something you enjoy... it further affirmed that this is my favorite kind of content you all make. I love all of smosh's channels and series but smosh pit and cast have a lot of these "just vibin'" and "genuine friends just hanging out" vibes It's just cool seeing you enjoy yourselves
Damien, I've got to say that you do an incredible job as a DM. It's clear that even if you've never run before, you have the creativity and flexibility that a lot of people don't recognize as one of the most necessary skills to run. You did brilliantly and I loved both that and everyone clearly enjoying to game.
I loved the whole story. It was also my first D&D experience too. Ive always wanted to watch a story from the begining. Now me and a bunch of friends are planning a campaing. Cant wait for season 2!
I really hope those that watched the first and haven't come back do return to see the last 8 episodes. As someone also relatively new to D&D, seeing the growth of your roleplay makes me want to encourage my party to do it more.
I am so excited for season two! I am so entrenched in the story and the characters chemistry that I couldn’t put it down if I tried. Definitely my favorite smosh series so far.
The reveal that Koda's lover is also a character played by Chanse in another campaign is the most Chanse thing I've seen
Chanse is so me.
I like how Damien's hair color is also a barometer for time.
How do you know it's not the silver one but with a purple light on it?
and you can use root colour for an extra level of precision
Also Shayne’s mustache
@@sitabear21 lmao i was gonna say this

Oh my god, that reveal about Chance’s characters was awesome. I was just as awe-struck as Angela.
I’d love to see Chanse really flex his D&D experience in season 2🤩
ikr
Check out the previous Dnd game they did with Tim as DM. The way Chanse describes how he likes to play is definitely how he approached that game.
@@MrSpazbomb on Smosh Games?
This is my favirite series smosh has done. The fact that i actually cried at the end bc of how emotional it was for me is proof enough. You guys did such an amazing job with this and i cant wait to see season 2. 🧡 love you all so much.
I love that Chanse to a side character from his usual campaigns and brought Koda to this series
I'm honestly impressed Shayne had the restraint to not roleplay as the chosen in this series
Please, please, please, give us an update on season 2! I love this show, I love the characters, and I love seeing the players grow and learn about their abilities and using them in astonishing ways. It is amazing!
One of the best projects I love how much Smosh continues to grow and change:) Such a welcoming group of people
I loved sword af so much.
You guys need to keep this going.
I will be listening to season 2 despite it being audio only.
Here's hoping for season 3.
i cant wait to see what everyone does next with this, the game was fantastic and watching everyone get into it more and show off their inner child and creativity was just so entertaining and made my heart glow :)
Thank you all for allowing us to join you on this journey and this campaign. By far one of my favorite series right now. Hyped for SAF pt 2!
I love all of smosh's channels and series but smosh pit and cast have a lot of these "just vibin'" and "genuine friends just hanging out" vibes It's just cool seeing you enjoy yourselves
this campaign was so great!!! I hope there’s more seasons to come, maybe with some other cast members 👀
Sponce
Damien, I've got to say that you do an incredible job as a DM. It's clear that even if you've never run before, you have the creativity and flexibility that a lot of people don't recognize as one of the most necessary skills to run. You did brilliantly and I loved both that and everyone clearly enjoying to game.
You guys have and Smosh in general has become such a comfort for me recently, love you so so much ❤❤
I loved the whole story. It was also my first D&D experience too. Ive always wanted to watch a story from the begining. Now me and a bunch of friends are planning a campaing. Cant wait for season 2!
Finally some answers about Kevin cuz the recap on one episode and i was like “who tf is kevin?!”
I love seeing people light up after playing a successful game/campaign/season of D&D
I would pay for an uncut version of Season 1
I really hope those that watched the first and haven't come back do return to see the last 8 episodes. As someone also relatively new to D&D, seeing the growth of your roleplay makes me want to encourage my party to do it more.
I am so excited for season two! I am so entrenched in the story and the characters chemistry that I couldn’t put it down if I tried. Definitely my favorite smosh series so far.
sword AF has been the first ever dnd series i have ever seen and i fucking LOVED it I absolutely can't wait for next season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I desperately want to see someone animate the Sword AF Series
I absolutely lobed this series and it’s the first d&d series I’ve watched in full. I cant wait for what happens next!
