I just watched a very similar if not the same kit used in the movie "CIvil War" and it took me a little out of the movie. Could you do a video analyzing how probable it would be to be using film in a war zone setting and doing the whole process on the go? What about the availability of film in those situations? Would you shoot in B&W or is there a way to turn color pics into B&&W after the shots. Thanks for the content. Love the video! 😁👍

I have looked at them in the past and I am getting 24mpix scans with my current lab at about the same price that the entry plan would provide so I never committed. I only shoot around 4 rolls per month, but I can see where the price benefits start to come in when you are getting closer to 100 rolls per year (8-10 rolls per month.
@@Faam92 yeah it looks like they just used a very high res scanner for the files compared to most scans. I'm perfectly happy getting into DSLR scanning on my own but this still seems like a pretty cool service. $200 for 10 rolls developed and scanned, even at the lower res, is a good price. At least for my location anyway.
Enjoyed the video this week but... woah let's slow it down a bit, TIFF scans are great and yes film highlight recovery is an option but you can't really play around with the exposure slider on 35mm scans and expect too much. Just throwing this out there for new film shooters ;)
still too expensive. I pay 7 bucks to develop color film, 120 or 35. Scan at home for free. That's over 1k a year savings per 100 rolls. not to mention you give up control to the lab over their scan choices.
@@Jakechams and you practiced for years and made 50 prints a week without changing film or developer? When I took photography when all we had was film, my teacher had print the SAME photograph 50-100 times a session just to get things right. He was training us on how to be consistent with our supplies. The more you change things, the less you get of what you’d like to see. For example I know exactly how long to develop my Tri x because I know exactly how off my shutter speeds are on my camera by doing tests and eliminating variables. The proper development and printing for my negatives isn’t the same as massive dev chart

Which scanner were you using? I just got the Opticfilm 120 and the details I got from it is crazy too. I’m scanning them into around 8000x6000.

Yes they are available for both!!
They are mock ups of a contact sheet so they are not literal borders, but it’s still pretty helpful!

Developing BW at home is really relaxing and engaging activity. But I wouldn't develop color myself :)

Develop your own photographs in a dark room, don’t rely on labs and scanning makes photos look too noisy
I did that for a long time!! I think I get better results with the lab.
