A drone is probably the most important thing, most of your practice should be with a drone, and when you turn it off naturally you’ll be able to hear even the slightest bit of sharp or flat.
IME, it doesn't. I think it's something that when used as part of a wider practice routine can be really valuable and I've never heard of anyone having an issue with temperament when subsequently playing in different situations. The benefits are huge, especially for those who are still establishing their technique and finding their way around the instrument.
Great topic, indeed. Intonation is one of the things which separates good from great double bass players
Very cool - I never tuned in to the vibrations before like that! Awesome!
This is amazing thank you! I am a cellist but have been working with young bass students this year and this is really helpful.
Thanks for the tip gente buena!
I think this is the definition of "if it feels good, play it that way!"

Agreed! There's no ambiguity when the drone is on.
Please is it possible to repeat the name of the deaf bassist from Puerto Rico ? I can't find him on google.
Hector Tirado. Here's a great discussion Jason had with him contrabassconversations.com/2019/08/01/hector-tirado/ Enjoy :-)
Francois DUQUENNE his name is Hector Tirado-such an inspiring musician!
Thanks !!! Inspiring! Right
Is that a Chicago accent I hear?
David Pino yup! I was there for 23 years. 😊
Talking about intonation! Not only the difference between British English and American English, but also the colloquial slang! :-D
Does practicing with a drone distract from equal temperament and encourage more just temperament?
