Agree 100% with your first statement. I’ve seen Mr Page a few times on stage and I find myself studying him even when he is not the focus of a scene. I saw Hunchback at La Jolla and while I found it compelling it was far from the best musical I’ve seen. Two main points. First, there was too much storytelling. Don’t tell me the action, show it to me. Second, there was too much focus on Frollo and not enough in Quasimodo. I actually found Frollo’s arc more interesting - partly due to Mr Page’s mesmerizing performance - but the show was supposed to about another character given the title. Still it’s one of my favorite Disney animated films and I was delighted when it finally got staged here in the US, and with the darker elements from the novel.
Had the privilege to meet Mr Page at stagedoor after the April 27th performance of Hadestown. They don't come any more genuine than this man right here, let me tell you. From the moment he stepped out of the door, you could tell how kind a man he was. During playbill signings, he stopped and spent 5-10 minutes talking with EVERY INDIVIDUAL who he signed things for, and ended up staying the longest after the show to visit with fans. Patrick Page is a treasure, and to see him get so much positive recognition does my heart so good. He deserves it.
he’s the kindest guy! i stagedoored after a Sunday 3:00 pm performance, about a week ago, and some people hadn’t stayed for we raise our cups/bows so i was like 3 rows back from the stage door. I’m also 4’8, and too socially awkward to ask to move to the front of the line, so I’d given up on getting my playbill signed but my 5’9 mom was there so I knew we’d get one signed by her. At the point that Patrick came out, I’d scooted up a little, so I was just two people deep but I found a window in which I could see everyone coming out but i would’ve smacked the girl in front of me’s head if I handed someone my playbill for a signature. Patrick starts making his rounds, saying hello to everybody and signing everybody’s programs, even those who are in the very back which has progressed to about 5 people deep. He passes over me, which is understandable because he could at most see the top of my forehead. He doubles back, looks me directly in the eye-bent in half to do so as you can imagine because he’s 6 foot-and gestures for me to hand him my playbill with a kind smile. I, an idiot, take approximately three seconds to realize that he’s addressing me, even though I’m itty bitty and made no move to try and get my playbill signed. I’m like 85% sure I pointed to myself and said “me?”. He has an incredibly warm gaze just FYI. As he’s signing my playbill, I tell him, probably barely audibly, that he was fabulous and I loved him in hunchback, which by his estimation I would’ve seen it when I was like 7 (I’m 16, so I was 12 during hunchback at paper mill but i also look like I’m just starting middle school by the most generous estimates). I get the most genuine thank you I’ve ever received in my life. I don’t know if it’s just his voice, but just comes off as the warmest person. The fact that he went out of his way to make me feel included and to sign my playbill is just astounding, and it’s something I’ll never forget.
When I first heard him as Hades in Hadestown, at first I didn’t recognize his voice. Then after listening again, I immediately yelled *_”HOLY SHIT ITS CLAUDE FROLLO”_* and now I wanna see Hadestown even more now.
Patrick, if you're reading this, this might seem like an odd specific request. But can you please write a memoir and record the audiobook because I could listen to you tell these wonderful stories all day.
@Greg Elchert I've listened to that episode but completely forgot about this book! Would be quite interesting to read! I'm just scared about what he'd have to say about Bono and Edge, I'm quite a big U2-fan (at least, when they were younger) but I know these last years they haven't really made themselves more likable...
These stories are fabulous. Every story was funnier or more moving than the last. It really touched me when he said how New Yorkers didn’t really notice a person in drag because they’re so used to it. I love New York.
Love Patrick, he’s profoundly talented and such a class act. Can totally relate to not wanting to spend any time in the wings; they’re a hub for aggravated nerves!
As soon as I heard Patrick Page speak during Hadestown I had shivers. His voice is chilling and I was like this is PERFECT casting for Hades I could also listen to him tell me a bedtime story
Wow ! Patrick Page is such a kind hearted, humble person who has created a life rich with fascinating experiences with his hard work, perseverance, & God given Talent ! Class Act ! I cannot wait to see him in Hadestown in July !
Saw Hadestown last night and it was unbelievable! Also had a chance to talk to Patrick after the show and he’s such a kind and down to earth guy. There truely isn’t anyone quite like him
Patrick Page should play the owner of the Mason Des Lunes in the Beauty and the Beast revival. With Susan Eagan as Mrs. Potts and Terrence Mann as Maurice.
Patrick Page is now one of my new Broadway idols! He seems so kind and genuine, and I can't believe he was Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast! That's so cool! :D
His story from Notre Dame nearly had me crying it’s so relatable, couldn’t sing in front of people until a few months ago since I didn’t get a part in a show in like 5th grade
I saw Hadestown yesterday for my birthday and I was amazed by the cast. Patrick is an amazing actor, I loved his voice it’s so rich tone in his voice. I got goosebumps when he started to speak and sing. Ugh it will always be an unforgettable experience for me. ❤️
I feel like the background music is a little bit too loud.... we need to hear more of his voice ;)) all these stories are amazing and he seems like a super nice and calm grandpa!!!
What a wonderful man. Brilliant stories. Sometimes you can just feel the positive atmosphere radiating from a genuine and kind person. Someone able to take stories with less than ideal scenarios in them and spin them in a humorous and lighthearted way while reminiscing. He’s also phenomenally talented. Anyone in close relation to him is lucky.
As soon as he mentioned the Cheesecake Factory, I was like, "Oh, boy." There's no Cheesecake Factory that I know of in New York, but there is one near Newport.
I don't know if it's his voice that makes this guy so gd watchable or if it's both that and what a sweet soul he sounds like. I am forever regretful that I didn't go to the stage door when I went to see Hadestown because this dude is a treasure.
For the record, we DO have Cheesecake Factories here in NY. There are several out on the island (Westbury, Huntington, Lake Grove to name a few). Just thought you'd like to know. :D
I found out about who Patrick Page was because of the Green Goblin in Spider-Man Turn off the Dark! I heard that it’s going on tour!!?? Is it becoming a thing anyone know?!
Ethan Mullen it’s actually a really lovely communal tradition that happens at the National Theatre, and I can imagine that it’s quite thrilling to have all these actors from all these floors of dressing rooms banging on windows as a sign of support, knowing that you’re part of a tradition
Patrick page is a pure legend. Hunchback is the best musical ever and his frollo is amazing!!!

Agreed. His version of Hellfire gives me literal chills
Indeed.
I could not agree more

That's so awesome! He seems so lovely, and his voice is so mesmerizing. I'm obsessed!!

I stagedoored after opening night, and being able to converse with him for a good 5 minutes was absolutely life-changing.
Hearing all these stories im gonna cry. The whole Hadestown cast is amazing and I hope they still perform after Covid so I can see them live.
The locked dressing room story was terrifying oh my wORD
Ikr I could just feel the anxiety coming on
honestly! what kind of sick human being is _that_ cruel?
It happened to me once, but luckily me and fellow actors got the door open by kicking it before my queue
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IS HERE...
When I first heard him as Hades in Hadestown, at first I didn’t recognize his voice. Then after listening again, I immediately yelled *_”HOLY SHIT ITS CLAUDE FROLLO”_* and now I wanna see Hadestown even more now.
Yeeeesssssss.
Holy shit his voice is actually that deep 😳
that was my first reaction to this video LOL
His voice is so hypnotizing 🖤
Brenna yas and it’s hot
Until you listen to Hadestown's
I swear to god his voice is deep as hell
he's a dilf
almost crapping himself in full costume before a HUGE number?? absolutely iconic. i lost it
So Patrick's played 2 official Disney villains: Scar & Frollo, and 1 unofficial: Hades.
Petition for Patrick Page as a Disney legend?
I'd absolutely sign it.
Imagine PATRICK FRIGGIN PAGE telling someone that they could find another guy that could sell more tickets than him
Take a shot every time he says "cherished memory"
careful with that champagne there, boy
you’re gonna be flying in a minute, and i hear they dropped a few
How ironic the first story he told was with Reeve
What a cool ass dude. And that voice?!?! He NEEDS to do audio books some time. I’d pay a million to have him read Call if Cthulhu
Patrick, if you're reading this, this might seem like an odd specific request. But can you please write a memoir and record the audiobook because I could listen to you tell these wonderful stories all day.
Just narrate any book really!!
I don't think he reads video comments
There's a Patrick Page podcast now!
@Greg Elchert I've listened to that episode but completely forgot about this book! Would be quite interesting to read! I'm just scared about what he'd have to say about Bono and Edge, I'm quite a big U2-fan (at least, when they were younger) but I know these last years they haven't really made themselves more likable...
how a man with that naturally deep of a voice ever played LUMIERE beats me, i love it.
He seems like the nicest guy ever.
WOAH, I had no idea this guy was so ICONIC. He’s played so many fantastic roles!
Somehow I have even more respect for Patrick Page after hearing the story of how he almost shat himself during Beauty and the Beast.
As soon as I heard Patrick Page speak during Hadestown I had shivers. His voice is chilling and I was like this is PERFECT casting for Hades
I could also listen to him tell me a bedtime story
Wow ! Patrick Page is such a kind hearted, humble person who has created a life rich with fascinating experiences with his hard work, perseverance, & God given Talent ! Class Act ! I cannot wait to see him in Hadestown in July !
I could listen to Patrick Page talk for YEARS
His voice. I just can’t fathom how naturally deep it is. Omg.
I love Patrick! He seems like such a witty, sweet person, not to mention his magnificent performance as Frollo in Hunchback.💖💖
He's amazing as Frollo & Hades; I cannot wait to see what other villain he creates.
Lauren Faerber he also played Scar in the Lion King.
Indeed.
Patrick Page is now one of my new Broadway idols! He seems so kind and genuine, and I can't believe he was Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast! That's so cool! :D
His voice his voice his voice!
His voice is so deep it’s almost inaudible, he’s amazing
I love how he doesn't know that we have a Cheesecake Factory in South Huntington, Bay Shore, Lake Grove, and Westbury
Patrick was amazing in Hadestown. Such an amazing human being and artist.
He seems like he'd be a nice grandpa

I love Patrick Page; I began following him after Hunchback!
His story from Notre Dame nearly had me crying it’s so relatable, couldn’t sing in front of people until a few months ago since I didn’t get a part in a show in like 5th grade
I could hear him talking for hours without es getting tired. His voice is sooooo soothing
I saw Hadestown yesterday for my birthday and I was amazed by the cast. Patrick is an amazing actor, I loved his voice it’s so rich tone in his voice. I got goosebumps when he started to speak and sing. Ugh it will always be an unforgettable experience for me. ❤️
ive never heard "cheesecake factory" said in such an epic tone
I was fortunate to be directed twice by Patrick's father! GOOD BLESS Robert Page Sr!
Anyone in close relation to him is lucky.
this man is a true icon and national treasure
Patrick Page’s portrayal of the Grinch in Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas-The Musical is the most memorable thing of all time.
Have he ever considered reading stories? Just for vocal purposes?
Wow this guy has an amazing resume
im so sorry but when he mentions his wife all i could think of was what if she took his last name and became Paige Page
The coolest actor on Broadway.
As soon as he mentioned the Cheesecake Factory, I was like, "Oh, boy." There's no Cheesecake Factory that I know of in New York, but there is one near Newport.
Patrick as Frollo is one of my favorite favorites
I swear, if I'll ever find someone with a voice like this, I'm marrying him straight away!
He seems like the kindest man ever
i remember when i saw hadestown and just being in awe of his voice i was like about to bow down it him
I saw him in Spider-Man lol, my first broadway show. And now I’m going to be in a production of Hunchback
His Frollo is the most amazing performance ever. 😍♥️
"The Cheesecake Factory"
Patrick... your stage manager just conviently knew that you were locked in your dressing room?
Well he answered the phone in the dressing room, so that's a decent hint.
Omg I love Patrick Page. He’s so amazing!
Every memory he has is cherished and I aspire to be that level of loving life!
I don't know if it's his voice that makes this guy so gd watchable or if it's both that and what a sweet soul he sounds like. I am forever regretful that I didn't go to the stage door when I went to see Hadestown because this dude is a treasure.
The background is a bit too loud
If Patrick doesn’t do an audiobook I will--
For the record, we DO have Cheesecake Factories here in NY. There are several out on the island (Westbury, Huntington, Lake Grove to name a few). Just thought you'd like to know. :D
Gary Tifeld He was making a joke :-)
I wonder what his voice would sound like with helium

Patrick Page would be awesome as Judge Turpin.
This was so much fun to watch
I love the beauty and the beast story so funny

Best Scar ever!!
He was great as Frollo in Hunchback. Recommend to watch for anyone. Especially him singing Hellfire
A true bass!
I found it cute that he was Lumiere and his wife was Babette 🥰
Patrick Page epitome of perfection
GREAT stories! Patrick is a graduate of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington!
*The story about him having to shit during a performance had me wheezing*
I didn't know he played Lumiere! I neeeed to hear his Be Our Guest!
If there will be a Disney Villain cartoon series, get this man to voice Frollo
His story of the Cheesecake Factory is amazing 😂 it’s one of the best places here in CO
Omg freak like me is the only thing I liked from Spider-Man
LIKE FIRE! HELLFIRE! THIS FIRE IN MY SKIN. THIS BURNING.....DESIRE.....IS TURNING MEEE TOOOO SIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!
Me listening to this before bed because his voice is so nice

Wow so incredible
I didnt realize how much he was in
IT WOULD BE PERFECT IF HE PLAYED LUMIERE AGAIN IN THE NEW REVIVAL OF BATB!
I found out about who Patrick Page was because of the Green Goblin in Spider-Man Turn off the Dark! I heard that it’s going on tour!!?? Is it becoming a thing anyone know?!
No, I'm pretty sure the tour is dead in the water. Oof
If there's a jungle book musical, he should play shere khan.
I hope Patrick comes back as Frollo at some point opposite Joshua Castille as Quasimodo. It would be fabulous!!!
If his wife had changed her last name, her name would have been Paige Page 😂
Page's back must have hurt from carrying the entire spiderman musical
Really cool video! I love him.
Comment on the show tho, music in the back is way too loud.
greg poppovich is doin well off the NBA
Upstate NY has cheesecake factory......i go there all the time lol
great man, great stories... but why the FUCK is the music so loud???? i couldn't even concentrate on a word of what he was saying!
He’s hot omg YAAAAYS
💕❤️💕
Patrick Page played both Frollo and Scar.
HE PLAYED WITH REEVE?? IN SPIDERMAN TOO ?
banging on windows was the most thrilling things in his life?
Ethan Mullen it’s actually a really lovely communal tradition that happens at the National Theatre, and I can imagine that it’s quite thrilling to have all these actors from all these floors of dressing rooms banging on windows as a sign of support, knowing that you’re part of a tradition
At the moment I have a headache so that just sounds like hell to me but it’s probably really cool
throat scorced from cigs? very compellin.....
Can we turn off stupid background music and just hear him speak smh
I'm sorry sir I deeply respect you. But this is deaf west spring awakening erasure
Truth
