What an awesome, simple, yet informative video that I got sent along with my assignment!! Your voice is so soothing unlike the other tutorialists and you are a champ in explaining and demonstrating all of this and as such I will defo subscribe to you.
Sir, God bless the day I discovered you on your RUclips Platform. I have been struggling for a while with Structured Query Language (MySQL) without knowing that MS Access is the foundation. I never crossed path with MS Access even though I have a master degree in Construction Management! You have streamlined my on going self development learning process in data management. Thank you.Thank you. Thank you.
ExcelIsFun Mike Im one of the best in Excel in our country and this is because of you. I wish to see you onetime. Thanks alot for all of your trainings.
Very informative, Mike. I wonder - at 36:30 or so when it asks for a supplier code, is there a way to have a drop-down box which lists the allowable entries?
FYI, when in the query grid you can quickly bring up the Zoom window by hitting F2. Easy to remember as it's so similar to what you do in Excel when you want to edit cells.
Thanks Mike, besides the awsome explanations of you, I also saw something I never saw or was aware of: If you are in "edit mode" and enter a value without TAB or ENTER, and just go to another view, it is accepted. For curiosity I just tried this in Excel and the behaviour is the same, by switching to another sheet :)
thank you, this has helped me a lot. However, I have a fairly complicated query I'm trying to work out. I just can't figure it out. I have all but one aspect worked out. What I'm trying to do is a time clock system. Our system uses 87 to indicate clocking in, and 88 for clocking out. So I have a query to display the employee with a date range for the week and only displaying 87's and 88's for that employee. Now what I just can't figure out is the formula is to do the subtraction of 88 time from 87 time for each day and total the week. The table this is working from is a daily log for the employee so that is what the codes are for there are hundreds of codes given so I have to use the query for 87 and 88 or there would be hundreds of entries per day. I am completely lost on this, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you so much. And I have a question about Excel - hiding sheets. when i hide a sheet and protect workbook then nobody can unhide the sheet. but anybody can upload it to google drive and easily unhide the hiden sheet on google sheets. what solution could you recommend me? thanks in advance.
When you created the "OR" query I would just do it all on one line. Using separate rows is too consuming when you have many items you want to bring back.
Me too, but I try to teach the concepts of Advanced Filter, D Functions and Access Query all at same time. Plus, for beginners, it indirectly teaches that AND is on same line...
They are different, Access is a small SQL database with a user interface - it can do very specific tasks well. Excel can do anything, and on-the-fly analysis and make-it-up-as-you-go-along creates are what make Excel so amazing, especially now with Power Query and PowerPivot.
Michael, I have been following you for years, first for Excel now Access.... you are an awesome educator - Thank you!!!

Cool : ) Yes, the difference is that in Access it is actually saved to the computer without Save, but in Excel it is still not saved yet...
Thanks for your video, Mike. Please let me know if I have a table in Access and I want to update it by import data from Excel Table. Thank you.
Thanks

I have zero idea how Google sheets and Excel interact. Sorry.

Thanks you!
ExcellsFun > AccesssFun! ;-)
Very much TRUE!!!!
Till now, may I conclude that Access is just a little, not much, better than excel?
