    In today's video we take a look at the Nicrew Internal Aquarium Filter!
    I recently purchased this product off amazon after seeing my good friend ‪@MDFishTanks‬ use internal filters in his aquariums. I thought I would do an unboxing video on it as well as a brief review. I have had this filter running on my 55 gallon angelfish planted tank now for around 1 month and it's working great!
    I bought the 20-40 gallon version of this filter and honestly I was afraid it was too powerful for my angelfish. I later purchased the 10-20 gallon for this tank and will be utilizing the 30-40 gallon version in a another tank for an upcoming project. That video will be published soon!
    The filter itself is very easy to instal and is incredibly user friendly. It does not however have a massive amount of capacity for mechanical, biological or chemical media which is a slight downside. However, if you, like me, have a densely planted tank with another form of filtration (In my case the aqua clear 50 HOB) it is perfect! It provides great flower throughout the tank and really helps to clear your aquarium water up!
    Let me know your thoughts in the comments & thank you for watching!

    You got the filter upside down. The cord part should be on top.

      Guess you could flip it around for sure. Can’t imagine it would really effect its efficiency either way though right? The pump still pulls water through the sponge and other media….no matter how its positioned. Thanks for watching big vig👍🏻

      @@WhatOfFox I believe you are right on how the filter should be positioned. However, the pump still pulls water through toward the pump…..through the media no matter how it’s positioned. Same as a sponge filter would whether you put it lateral/horrizontal etc. You can put it lateral in the tank as shown in the instructions (I just checked) so positioning can be switched up. I appreciated your concern for my hobby though big vig. Top lad👌🏻 would love to see your amazing tanks sometime (I’m sure you have them)

    Why wash the bio media, and then stack them neatly, that's against it's purpose. You then put the bio media before the sponge. 😅 And the whole filter upside down.

    • @cichlidscape

    I’ve recently been considering this purchase for my 29g I currently have an AC50 but as you said the water comes crashing down instead of flowing across the tank. I’m wondering if it would be good enough to use in place of the AC50 because my plant growth looks great everywhere except where the water flows back in from the filter. My guess is they are just getting blasted too much

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  2 года назад +1

      Could be the case. Can you increase the water level of the tank so the water doesn’t come crashing down quite as much? I would say you could, but you may miss out on some bio media as there isn’t too much space compared to an AC50. Using both together in this 55 really makes sense though I think👍🏻 thanks for watching Nick

    I've got a bag full of these type of filters that I've accumulated over the years. I just don't see the advantage of using one over a sponge filter.
    If you have tanks over 40 gallons in capacity, you would generally plump for a decent canister filter (which can also take care of any flow that you need), which makes these a bit redundant.

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  2 года назад +1

      I see what you mean. In terms of bio capacity I definitely get your point but I think price wise & extra flow wise these are a good option. Especially in planted tanks like this one👍🏻 thanks for watching Andreas

    Hi I'm going to be a new fish mom very soon. I've just been doing my research and watching lots of youtube videos, like yours specifically for this filter bc I believe this filter would be best for my room (as it makes no sound) love that about this filter! Anyways my question for you is, I know that I need to change the filter. Can you do a whole separate video on how you change this filter specifically and how often you should change it? I'll be owning a black moor goldfish btw (: Thank you!

    I have the same HOB as you and have the same crashing issue mainly caused by evaporation of water. If i keep the water level high then no crashing, but that's a pain to keep refilling every week. I invested in the Nicrew 380 and LOVE it, so quite. But i am afraid to remove my HOB as it is a beast do you think i need to run both or will be good with just the Nicrew 380

    what's the best angle for the spray bar for optimum oxygen and underwater flow/circulation when it's above the water surface ? or should i just submerge it? but i think that defeats the purpose vis-a-vis water agitation. i'm also trying to grow floating plants so i need to keep surface current to an optimal minumum
