This totally works... I had nothing to lose as the shifter was already problematic. Followed instructions and let it cool for about an hour. Worked like a charm. My car was down for a total of about 30 hrs from it going into limp mode, to up and running. Thank you for the video, it saved me some money
Sulo, I've been chasing this elusive problem for a few months and was at my whits end, then I found your video. I followed your steps and put the circuit board in the oven as instructed and HOT DOG!!! It worked and the car is no longer a lawn ornament! Thanks a million for your video, I never would have tried this without seeing how you fixed yours. Thank-you thank-you thank-you!!!
Adding my two cents. So far this worked. First cleaned with electronic fluid, put in ar 390, but turned off stove so no wind, let cool down without moving for several hours. I had ALREADY change the pin, conductor plate, cleaned TMC due to fault 7050, but when I read the internal codes from icarsoft it showed alternate codes and indicated gear shifter. In hindsight, might have tried this first and saved a ton of work. However, at least my car has fresh fluid, new plate, clean TMC etc.
I eventually relented after trying everything else and put the circuit board in the oven 8mins @200degC. To my delight it worked thanks for putting up the video.

I was getting p0705 on my w203(2002 C240). Did this and it fixed it! Thanks, @Sulo T. Make sure for anyone doing this, cooking the chip only @ 200 Celsius for 8Mins! Mine was making the oven smoke. Cooled it down then installed and everything works now! :D
@DaveCaresForYou as soon as I started the car up, my Mercedes would not show the park icon and if I shifted gears from reverse to First it would kick very hard. I tried this trick and it completely worked!
We got a replacement unit firstly put it in, it was worse, threw up more faults and would even let the car crank/start so we did exactly what you did on the video only our unit was sealed so we cut the tabs that were glued and took the circuit board out and cooked it at 200c for 8mins and reassembled, put back into car and voila! Gears were changing correctly, display was showing correct gear selected, wasn't revving or limping, smooth gear change, no clunking into or out of gear and we didn't have to turn off the ignition to put it into park anymore! Sorted the whole thing, thanks for sharing!
If you were to swap out ecu, ignition switch, key and floor shifter...dont you have to program the conductor plate to match what you install into the s430
Be EXTRA careful when you are taking it out of the oven. The Pieces are VERY loose before it cools. I dropped mine. Chips and other electronics went flying everywhere. I'm going to try placing them back and putting it back in the oven. If that doesn't work i'll end up buying a new (used) Shifter.

i'm so excited because i solved problem about gearbox selector on this way. Thank you for this advise. I used my owen on 200 C about nine minutes and problem gone.
Ruined my chip, could see some of the solders had run and were touching each other..... was going to get a new selector anyway., my father recommended against it and he was right.
So, everyone watch out, this procedure is NOT VALID for W203 year 2004 onward! Putting in oven just brakes electronics indefinitely. Owner of this video should specify. 👎👎👎
Thank you for the information. I have informed the model year 2002, in addition to text reads part number. This is just DIY repair at your own risk without warranty :) It is more responsible to take the car for repair to a branded service center. If you like exploratory fixes then this is a good option for you and if that alone isn’t enough, then you might want to look at the help found behind the link.

I’ve just done this today on mine and so far, so good... thank you for sharing this, both my bank balance and I thank you.
I hope it works for a long time. If the oven is not enough, then you can solder the black blocks to the circuit boards.
It's now been 11 days and so far so good. I had seen a similar tutorial after seeing yours where a soldering iron was used...
Is it ok now?

What exactly about the shift selector failed that he is repairing?
The gearbox does not change gear and the gearbox letters do not appear in the instrument cluster
Can a bad shifter cause it be to stuck in park or drive at times?
Do i pre- heat the OVEN?

Or you can use a hot air soldering gun gently heating it up while moving it in a circular position.
