I should say that there is a big difference in how the people speak in the western part of the state compared to the eastern part of North Carolina, but I can appreciate both.
i am from north carolina! i couldn't imagine someone thinking this is fake. you don't even sound like you have an accent, you just sound normal to me :)
I'm from North Carolina as well, and this is the funniest accent tag video I have watched. So thank you! I can definitely say we talk completely different, haha.
I was born In Hickory North Carolina but moved to New York at the age of 5. I always preferred southern accents and out of all of your videos that I have seen I still call them by how you do. I'm hoping I can watch your vids and slowly get my accent back 👍🏻
I'm from the Piedmont and it's cool how different the accents are here in NC. I think one characteristic of the NC accent is that we drag our I's out a little more the rest of the south.
Northern born in a Southern family (Alabama, specifically). I was always told, when it's raining and the sun is shining at the same time, the devil is beating his wife.
You could take and run with it Chris. So many Yankees have moved down here and they don't have a clue. Our food, clothing, cars, music and southern traditions. They're all being taken away. Keep going boy!
I grew up in Carteret & Craven County. I now live in Texas. I was born in Massachusetts. Texas bairly has an accent. I miss NC accent. Keep making the video's. Love them.
Down East Carteret County is a whole different world. thick hoi toider accent + local words = impossible. ive lived in that area my whole life (16 years) and it still have trouble understanding people.
I need to make a video like this ha. I have many people tell me I gotta accent but I don't think I do. I've been told it comes out more when I'm mad or tired but still I never hear it. I've seen so many of these videos so I think I might have ta make one and see what others think ha. I love your accent though! my favorite kinda accent :) can you say caught and cot. or don and dawn. see if ya say them different
I grew up in Hendersonville, NC, myself. Was expecting you to call your grandfolks "Memaw and Pappaw". :D But yeah, I guess that never was a consistent thing among everybody. I suspect it has more to do with pet names used within specific families, so it will vary. It was just "Grandpa and Grandma" for me.
As a side, let me say to be glad if you can stay close to your roots, man. I've lived ALL OVER the States, come across so many awesome people and places, but miss WNC more than anything. :) Take care, man!
It's really funny actually because I'm a northern Canadian girl and there are even some words that we, or at least I, say the same way as you do. For example; aunt, water, and pecan. Although some, like sure, data and pajamas, are practically the opposite of how I say it lol
I grew up in Caldwell County, NC so I can't certainly identify with the Western North Carolina dialect. Now that I live in the North Carolina Sandhills I find some of the phrases and words interesting to as the least. For example where I grew up the word "wasn't" is pronounced wadn't as in That movie was good, wadn't it? In the Sandhills they say "won't". As in, That movie was good, won't it?".
They sound almost British, we people from central NC (Wilson, Farmville, Tarboro, Rocky Mount) kinda sound like how people imagine a Confederate General would sound.
Finally an American accent tag where the person actually has a regional accent and not boring American American. Cheers for uploading x
I litterally could listen to you all day. Best accent in the US
Alistair Fellows thank you, I'm from North Carolina and we don't all have country accents just letting you know
I'm from western NC and when the rain falls while the sun is shining I've always heard that the devil is beating his wife.
Sunshowers, although I learned that word after I was grown. Also means it's gonna rain again tomorrow :-)
i love hearing the coastal carolina accent the first time i heard it from my buddy in greenville i liked it
I should say that there is a big difference in how the people speak in the western part of the state compared to the eastern part of North Carolina, but I can appreciate both.
I'm from there (WNC), and my buddy can actually tell what county somebody's from based on the accent. 🤣 I'm nowhere near that good.
I read that there are 200 accent types in North Carolina!
I'm in love with your voice😍
you have an amazing southern ascent
I could listen to you all day
i am from north carolina! i couldn't imagine someone thinking this is fake. you don't even sound like you have an accent, you just sound normal to me :)
