    Aren’t you technically supposed to put it on cold so that the heating follows a specific curve and the components don’t get temperature shock?

      the temperature doesn't rise to 220 immediately just because you put it on 220, the pcb is 1.6mm thick fiberglass. fiberglass is a very good thrmal insulator!
