May I chime in about pot-fillers? Does anyone else just see another possible leaky situation? I am all for convienience but I avoid plumbing issues like the plague. I have water at my sink only. No water line going to the fridge nor to the stove. And with a house full of dogs even the doggy bowl filler is a hard "no". Not having plumbing running all over the place behind walls and under floors frees up $$$ so you can splurge on everything else on this list.
    Love your channel.

I don't like the pot filler to fill a big pot for spagetti or things like that since I will have to carry it to the sink at the end anyway. But pot filler for the coffee machine is something I never thought of. That is a great idea, but unfortunately I don't have excess to water on that side of the kitchen. Plumbing is a big expense.

Thank you for pointing out the other end of using pot fillers. You now have to schlep a heavy hot pot of water to the sink. I don’t see the advantage to pot fillers over the stove.

Pot Filler are unkown here in Germany and honestly I don't feel I need it. We have hardly space here ...

Please please please make sure your pull-out waste bin clears any handles above. We have a pull out bin, but have to tilt the back bin a bit to clear the handle of the drawer right above it. What a pain.

One of the things I like most about my new kitchen is that the electric outlets are on a strip secured under the cabinets so no unsitely outlets breaking up my back splash. Thank you for your always wonderful, common sense videos.

Great ideas but... under sink drawers might be a hindrance when (not if) you need to do repairs/maintenance/replacements. Taking everything out of the drawers plus the actual drawers won't be an easy task. Any work around ideas on this issue?

Most good drawer hardware allows for relatively easy removal of the entire drawer. The obvious drawback is that a large fully loaded drawer can be quite heavy, so it's not a bad idea to lighten the load before removing the drawer. The investment in really good drawer hardware isn't too much, and it really adds to functionality and possible resale value, as those kinds of details are often important to potential buyers once they see them. I'm not a big fan of storing cleaning products or other hazardous chemicals under the kitchen sink because of the potential poison hazards to curious kids. I inadvertently drank bleach when I was about 5, and it wasn't a pleasant experience.

@@edwardcasper5231 Yes, that's what i thought 😓. As you get older, you think about the physical restraints of lifting and carrying, especially when you're a senior and not much muscle 💪.
So sorry to hear about the bleach incident. I can only imagine what you and your parents went through. Thx 😊!

It really wasn't as bad as it sounds. But it wasn't the most pleasant experience of my life. I'm right with you in the getting older department. To that point, I always wonder why front-of-the-range controlled stoves (which are easier to deal with if one is confined to a wheelchair) cost so much more than back-mounted control models.

That was the only drawer situation in the video that looked cumbersome to me especially having the one real front drawer then the second inner drawer. It would be so much better in this instance to just have 2 drawer fronts that pull out separately.

The water in the dedicated coffee station is good looking, but when you empty and rinse the pot you still have to go to the sink. For a complete experience, put a small sink there too.

Pot fillers: can't run stagnant water out of pipes before you fill pots. If you don't use it several times a day, the water in the pipes could get yucky.
Concealed trash bins: love the idea, but I can imagine people spilling stinky garbage over the side onto the cabinet. Besides that it will damage cabinet over time, I doubt anyone else in the house will take that mess apart to clean up spills. You're going to get stuck taking it all apart and scraping off the dried on filth. I'm not looking fore more work.

Although I like the idea of full extension drawers in base cabinets, using sheet pans on adjustable shelves is a very adaptable lower cost solution. In my small kitchen I absolutely WOULD regret a pull out waste container next to the sink as there’s so little storage space to begin with. A pull out UNDER the sink might work but only if it allows for storage of cleaning supplies and other items also. I do NOT need an under cabinet waste bin larger than a typical grocery bag since I live alone, so I have lots of room under the sink for other things. The location of my pantry allows hinged doors to open fully and that also allows wall pockets or shallow spice bins to be attached to the back of the doors. Unless you have a pot drain near the stove a pot filler there is worthless since I still have to carry it to dump! No to pot lights ANYWHERE in my home! Love under cabinet lights and pendants. Love open shelves mixed in. And if the closed upper cabinets store things you don’t want to look at BUT you like the lighter look of glass door cabinets, replace glass with a mirror!

Love your kitchen videos! We are planning to turn a small butler's pantry into a coffee/tea station and had thought about adding a small bar sink, but the pot filler might be even better! Another feature we are considering is an integrated induction cooktop like Invisacook. The whole area doubles as countertop when not cooking, stays cool and is easy to clean. Would love to know if your thoughts on this.
