Normally I try to comment something on the video, but I just thought I should say thank you for all the work you put into your videos. I always enjoy seeing notifications from you, your commentary is really insightful and entertaining. the way you talk about games and their plots always leaves me wanting to play them once I've finished watching. Also, your voice is really soothing to listen to, making you both engaging and relaxing. Anyways, just wanted to say thank you and that your work is really appreciated, hope you have a nice day.

If you want to do another non-horror game, two I highly recommend are Pikuniku, a weird and funny platformer where you basically play a sentient tomato (not actually, but you look like one), and Chicory: A Colorful Tale, a great adventure game about painting, friendships, and anxiety. Thanks for making awesome videos, and I can't wait to see what you do next!

I remember when I was 12-13 yrs old my little brother (10-11) asked my dad for a game for our ps3, a game that he would like and play alone, contrary to our coop games, he got Slycooper the trilogy, 3 games for 1 (I picked destiny). So for a year after coming back from school I would or play destiny or watch my little brother play SlyCooper.
To say he suffered it little, He liked it so much that even for the high dificulty still wanted to end the 3 games. Wich He almost copmpleted, if I remember right it was the third in a stage of a sorta rythim boss (?). He tried so hard that he just dropped the game completly.
I on the other side laugh way to much while he played (and helped some times i guess) and enjoyed my copy of destiny

Great video, there's never enough videos talking about the most underrated of the big 3 PS2 platformer. To confirm your suspicions, the analog sticks reversing during the mobile turret sections definitely had to be a glitch with the emulator or your controller since the PS2 non emulated version and PS3 trilogy version doesn't have that problem.

Smooth, sly (no pun intended) and slick, the movement is nice and fluid, the combat is easy to catch, the bosses have some nice backstory and fights, and the whole plot goes "OOOOOOH SO THAT'S WHAT'S GOING ON" when you realize who's behind the whole thing. • @Benjamin-rj7ds
    @Benjamin-rj7ds Год назад +3

I really like the video, but as an overly pedantic Sly Cooper fan I'd like to say a few things:
-Murray isn't technically the "brawn" in Sly 1, he becomes the brawn in Sly 2 onward but in Sly 1 he's portrayed as a liability by Sly (literally calling him a part-time driver and full-time burden.)
-Muggshot's bullets can be dodged with properly timed double jumps.
-For the Mz. Ruby camera glitch, I've never experienced that problem, but I do know the game allows you to force the camera back behind Sly by clicking the right analog stick (Bentley tells you this in the first hub area), though I'm not sure if that would work there.
-Panda King was moved from the first boss to the fourth during development (we know this because of the beta mentioning Sly getting Panda King's pages while in Raleigh's level), I'm not sure as to the reasons why this change was made but it's the "accepted" reason for Panda King being an easy boss fight.
-They didn't actually lower the turret, Murray drove the fan through the cave and broke the turret off.

I just found this channel and I've been binge watching the videos... and then I see this: A video on a childhood game that I still hold very dearly. This makes me so happy!! Especially since this game feels so obscure. I know this is a bit of a late comment, but thank you so much for this!
Also, at 9:14 I remember experiencing that issue A LOT in the HD Collection version of the game, but almost never in the original version. (I know you mentioned you were emulating, but it looks like you were emulating the HD version of the game)
The HD Collection tends to mess up a lot of things somehow. One of the most notorious examples being Mz. Ruby's boss fight. They remastered the song itself, but... They didn't sync the button inputs to match with the new version of the song. It's a small change, but it becomes noticeable when you're trying to play to the rhythm and your button inputs feel like they don't register, or it just feels... off.
They may not sound different from memory, but I highly recommend listening to a comparison of the original and the HD Remaster's version of the boss fight song ("A Deadly Dance"). It's not the player's fault at all, just a mistake on the game's end that makes it difficult.

Oh oh oh! I have both the original of all the games and the PS3 re-release, and I've played them lots, so I think I can add a little clarity to the control issue: its purely emulation or an odd setting. When played on console, especially the collection, I found the controls as good as ever tbh? And the swamp is actually my fave - I hate hate fighting mugshot. No room for error. I think later games made the right choice in leaving the Charm system behind, but as much as I dislike a few of the driving minigames, the controls were never an issue in any of them outside Murray's dumb car race sections.
The AI is worse because the banding is just terrible, I think. Kinda like how Boggy can demolish you in Banjo Kazooie if you race ahead of him too far. Just my two pennies, though. Glad to see people giving a classic series I love more attention. :)
Edit: Oh, and I've love more on the other games.

A quick heads up on the emulation issues. I saw that you were likely using Retroarch based on the UI of the controls. I don't know if that might be the issue but I've had issues specifically with Retroarch for PS1/PS2 emulation before, so it might be worth taking a look at PCSX2 for any future PS2 emulation needs. Either way great video!

I was about to mention something similar. Albiet, I've heard the Sly games have emulation issues on PCSX2 but maybe they've worked those kinks out by now. Also for anyone curious, if you play the PS3 remaster, Mz. Ruby's boss fight is out of sync with the music, so that causes a lot of frustration.

I find it funny how every single villain is poetically stupid. Every single one fights with everything BUT what they're good at and brag about.
The first Rali is a mechanical specialist, yet engage in fisticuffs.
The second Mugshot built up his muscles so much his legs are noodles. Yet he only fights using guns, never throwing a single punch.
The third is Ruby whose all about voodoo and ghosts. Yet she fights with a projectile in a rhythm game. No curses or illusions.
Forth is Panda King, a frustrated firework artist turned homicidal pyromaniac. Who throws away his entire craft and rockets for flame-fu aka discount fire ball.
Fifth is Clockwork and he's the only one who did what he's good at, partly. Using Sly's feelings for a trap and removing his main and only weapon the cane. But then his main attack was projectiles. Despite being an owl. Whose greatest feat is their silence in flight. And with what the sequels tell of each part on top of his centuries.
He looks on the surface as the most resourceful but in truth he's the worst.
With so much time and planning and yet his plan and life was foiled because of Carmelita. Without her gadgets, weapons and help, Sly would most likely have lost or suffered immensely.
