I need to just quit my job because it's interfering to watch Emma and Carolyn's 40+ minute video readathons. I'll have to save it for later! 🙂Something to look forward to.
This may sound kind of weird (please forgive me), but I am one of those people that cry at pretty much every strong emotion felt. I cry when I'm really mad, or sad, or super duper happy. And watching you two get to meet in person for the first time and seeing your friendship just makes my heart so happy for you both. So now as I watch your videos it's become like watching someone's dream come true on America's Got Talent, I'm over here balling my eyes out filled with joy for you both. True friends are so hard to come by and are a treasure to be cherished. Thanks as always to you both for your great content. I don't know that I would have ever picked up a classic book if it weren't for you ladies. I'm so glad I happened to stumble across this booktube world, and especially glad I found my way to both of yours channels. My reading life has been much enriched by your recommendations. Thank you🙂
I joined a bookclub two and a half years ago. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. We meet up once a month and discuss the book that we read over the month. I feel so excited to meet up with the group every time. I love that we have the same interest.
reading hemingway feels most similar to watching a wes anderson movie. a lot of mundane things happen, a lot of conversations happen that don't really seem to add up to anything, and then there's that beautiful scene at the end of life aquatic where lots of beautiful things are said while they're watching the jaguar shark swim by them and everything just makes sense, in the most subtly beautiful way. granted, i'm only going off of a farewell to arms and the sun also rises for this interpretation. now i'm eager to read more of him thanks to you and carolyn :) seeing you both together felt like the most harmonious thing in the world. you're the kind of friendship that just, makes sense, in the most effortless way. what a rare and amazing thing
I’m extremely stressed out recently, because my work isn’t going well…but seeing you two getting to meet each other truly makes me happy and warm and nostalgic for some reason (although I never had a bookish friend) Thank you so so much, I love you so much 🥹
Your friendship is so precious and wholesome! My best friend is also living half the world away from me, and I truly know how hard it is to not be able to hangout with them. Video calls would never be the same! Also, thank you for inspiring me to comment on YT. I would never have the nerve to do it without watching your video xo.
The QnA friendship question, reminds me of my best friend... She was absolutely everything I needed in a friend... She left for heaven in 2020 and I extremely miss her... When you two were talking about each other it really took me back to how great our friendship was...🌸🌸💜💜
i was so surprised to come to the comments and see nobody talking about emmas t-shirt, i found it so funny lol. also love seeing you guys together, it makes me so happy! :)
It's so lovely to see you both just sitting on a couch together reading 🥰 my heart has been warmed Honestly I wish I had a friendship like the one you two have
Me too 😭 I'm like really missing having a best friend since I moved recently. Especially someone who also likes books. Maybe we can be friends if you want??
I really love this video Emmie it made me feel very happy, especially the QnA part 💗😊 to see you and Carolyn be together and enjoy your time is so nice. My friend moved to Italy for one year in September and I really miss her so much...but I think it helped me to appreciate much more our time together and her friendship. So thank you for reminding me that. ☺️
You two girls look so happy together that happiness permeates the screen. I'm so glad you two were able to meet and will be able to do so in the future. I also have some long-distance friendships and I dearly miss being with them, it is just not the same. Thank you for continuing to share your love of reading as always
Inspired by your channel, I tried reading a huge classic again (Great Expectations). I know it's not that huge but I've been trying to read it for 4 years and I've always been unsuccessful. But this time, after a month and a half I FINALLY finished it!!!!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration 💗💗💗
Omg, you guys, I'm gushing over you two, I hope you get to meet irl again and have many great times together. Thank you for sharing you friendship with us, it's such a blessed thing to have and to see.
Where Angels Fear to Tread was adapted into a film in 1991, also starring Helena Bonham Carter and Rupert Graves. It makes a fine companion viewing experience to the Merchant-Ivory adaption of A Room with a View.
It was lovely to see Emma and Caroline together everyone!! They have to do it again one day! Emma and Caroline have to visit each other again and again. This was so nice. And I really like the chill readathon, they should always be like this!
i love both of you sm and seeing you do videos together feels like im a part of your friend circle :) your videos (individual and together) are so exciting, engaging and motivating me to read as well!!
Stefan Zweig is really popular in Brazil. Him and his wife were living in Brazil when they both committed suicide together. Very tragic story. His biography about Marie Antoinette is his most known book in Brazil.
Super cool to get the other perspective!! Loved Carolyn’s video and now we can see all that we missed in YOUR video! Hahaha Emma picks up GOT by the end of it because Carolyn made it look too good! 😂
I loved this video and was so fun to read along with you both! This video is making me want to re-read the first Game of Thrones book and then carry on with the rest of the series. I was going to wait until we had a release date for the final book but I’m not sure I can wait that long!
24-hour readathons are some of the best things to ever exist within the booktube community. It’s something that readers or book lovers of any age can willingly participate in. It helps in discovering more books to read or further collect for future purposes.
Hemingway was such a great writer! I met his son, Jack when I worked at Thomasville Furniture. I remember a marketing mgr. asking if I had a brush because they needed to brush his hair before a video shoot. I took a look at the large flakes on his shoulders, ‘ummm, nope.’
I watch this video and note down many books you’ve mentioned 😂I come to realize I haven’t sat down and absorbed in a classic book for a long time. And thank u for inspiring me to leave my comment 😊
i'm currently stuyding hemingway at uni at the professor just told us today that it is told that hemingway started writing the sun also rises in my city
I think you should try Hemmingway’s short stories, The Sun is pretty boring in the sense of the plot but the writing kind of introduces you to him. The novellas are genius.
I would recommend A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay - it's a fantasy book that gives some classics vibes and the writing is wonderful. Someday I'll do a readathon again! What a wonderful challenge and love the crossovers!
I'm so excited for Game of Thrones Updates. What with the new spin off show and seeing you guys reading it on your insta story I got inspired and downloaded all 5 books to my kindle so i'm along for the ride with you !! :)
What a cute vlog! Loved watching it. I'm so glad you both don't get Goldfinch because I felt the same! Goodness, did I not understand the hype. I wish I could get back the time I wasted on that book...
beautiful vlog as always :3 it would be fantastic if you made a video in the future about archipelago gulac by solzěnicyn, I love that book but nobody seems to know it
stopped watching this video and RAN to read the chess story by Stefan Zweig cause I love chess and I was not disappointed. I gave it 4 stars as well. Such a great story.
I had the same experience with The sun also rises. It was pretty good but not the type of book that would keep me hooked. It had some really memorable passages in the second half, where you could see Hemingway's talent shine but also some pages that bore me to death. Overall 3 stars. It was also my first Hemingway but it will not be the last!
Emma, where did you get that great Alderaan weather report top?? (Also, was A Moveable Feast your first Hemingway? It was mine, this April. Read it in Paris, actually. And bought a copy from Shakespeare and Company, the bookshop he often visited and mentioned in the book. I feel especially attached to it because of that)
I love reading I've read the Game Of Thrones series but going to re read it if you like it you should read Blood And Fire it's a history that takes place 300 years before A Game Of Thrones
Y'all talk about The Goldfinch. I bought it second hand cuz everyone was talking about it. I am so... freaking... BORED. Like it feels like everything happens yet I just don't give a shit cuz it takes so much time to get there. I wanna DNF it lowkey but like I've already read 400 pages of that bullshit, I don't want to just quit on it after wasting so much time with it already. But it's definitely a task.
I read Secret History in July as I was fulfilling a reading challenge prompt of a Dark academia. I read the audiobook because I didn't have time to physically read it. Tartt narrated it. She read HER OWN BOOK with such a flat affect that it's proof she takes herself too seriously for my tastes. Give me Gaiman narrating his books with great good humor any day!
You're reading of Hemingway is a reminder that I was surprised when you said you didn't like American authors. I don't want every app so i don't make friends because everyone has different message apps including you dear Emma. I think because I'm old LOL I LOVE GAME OF THRONES!
Hi Emmie sorry for the off topic but I wanted to ask you for advice, which authors to approach poetry for the first time? and what are your favorites? top 5😂
Smells really do hit differently tho. I bought bacon so the smell can remind me of giving my tuxedo cat bits of bacon (it's his favorite once-in-a-blue-moon treat). He's fine, probably having a blast, we just aren't living together rn.
I need to just quit my job because it's interfering to watch Emma and Carolyn's 40+ minute video readathons. I'll have to save it for later! 🙂Something to look forward to.
This comment is wholeheartedly true🤣

Same. Really really sweet sentiment.
I'm the same when it comes to crying. It can go anywhere from just getting teary eyed to bawling my eyes out.
@@RadioGirLF it's good to know I'm not the only one😊
Same girl. Same
I love these 24 read a thon videos. The longest I’ve ever read is like 10 hours but I’ve always wanted to attempt this 😅
This is the crossover episode we needed!❤
You guys are literally the cutest! I wish I had a bookish friend 😕
I always thought this! Until I finally got myself to look up book clubs and events and made some lovely bookish friends 🥰
I joined a bookclub two and a half years ago. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. We meet up once a month and discuss the book that we read over the month. I feel so excited to meet up with the group every time. I love that we have the same interest.
Where are these bookclubs happening where people meet such nice friends!!!

i don’t think i will ever successfully conquer a 24 hour reading challenge so props to you both! much love from jakarta, indonesia
i almost cried when you talked about what you mean to each other 🥺 you're so cute!!

HI Carolyn, hi Claire!

the fact that the sun also rises is in my tbr as my first hemmingway book wowww
absolutely loved the vibes of this video, but was distracted this whole time by how good your Alderaan shirt is!!! aaaah!
The way you look and sometimes act reminds me so much of my youngest aunt it's so endearing to watch

Aahhh the sheer joy this upload brought me 🥺🤍
When Emma said she's the biggest introvert because Carolyn has friends LOL that's literally me 😂 loved watching you two spend time together! ❤
Make sure that you don't mix up Midnight In Paris with Last Tango In Paris. They're quite different.
Awh I love the story of how you became friends 🧡 I'd love a bookish best pal, it's impossible to make friends irl!
Same. I never meet anyone that reads as much or likes the same books 😕
Ikr, same here! if you want we can be friends haha.
just the comfort I need after receiving my first literary agent rejection email. love you two, never stop making great content.
sorry to hear it, but keep sending (and revising) - persistence pays off!
Oxford World’s Classics are my favourite classic editions, too!

not me literally drinking puka rose and cranberry tea when you mentioned you like puka tea ☕ this video had such comfy sleepover vibes!! ❤
The talk about your friendship moved me a lot. I wish Evertonem had so gentleman, considerate people around. This is what is really important, right?
And you know-how what? I'm grabbing Game of thrones. It wasn't on my tbr list at all but it happened to be on my husband's shell ;)
I loved The Blind Owl. Definitely messes with you.

Irrational Polish joy from seeing Polish Language on that lil box of thyme
It feels illegal to be this early but I love your videos ❤️
thank you so much
@@emmiereads thank you dear for those videos ❤️
If you want another hemmingway, you should read garden of eden, I think its super overlooked and underrated in his authorship. My fave hemmingway

I struggled with this as well. My personal favorites are Charles Bukowski, Sylvia Plath, Seamus Heaney, Langston Hughes, and Matsuo Basho
I’m not emmie, but Charles bulowski Pablo Neruda Emily Dickinson and Oscar Wilde are all amazing
