- First, my apology in behalf of RUclips that they have broken the 3D playback. Hopefully, this will be fixed eventually.
The globe "exhales" to flatness, then "inhales" full round again. Its depth is centered in the screen plane. The change in perceived depth results entirely from changes in the separation between right and left camera positions; there was no alteration of the globe's spherical geometry.
On a small (23 inch) 3D monitor, with the video enlarged to 1920x1080 full screen, the globe will appear naturally round at a two foot viewing distance. On a small 3DTV viewed from a distance equal to the width of the screen, full roundness will be achieved somewhere between zero separation and maximum separation. On a large home theater screen and on a multiplex theater screen viewed from a distance equal to the width of the screen, the globe will seem greatly exaggerated in and out of the screen when the camera separation is maximum.
The viewer can change the perceived depth range simply by sitting closer or further away from the screen. When viewed closer to the screen the globe seems to squish to the screen plane. When viewed further away from the screen, the globe seems to stretch further from the screen plane.
