Fateema Mernissi, Moroccan feminist, sociologist, and writer, delivered the 4th annual Eqbal Ahmad Lecture on March 12th, 2002. Her lecture, "The Emperor’s New Frontiers: Terrorism and the Borders of Civil Society," sheds new light on imperialism and the war on terror.
The Eqbal Ahmad Lecture series was founded to honor the late teacher for whom it is named. Ahmad was a longtime professor at Hampshire College, and this lecture series was built to be a continuing celebration of his life and work.
