I remember tracking this storm i knew it was going to be bad but not this bad from the damages that can still be seen today
There was a high pressure area system that cause Dorian moving too slow.
Look at that impressive circular CDO and eyewall as it sits over Grand Bahama
I remember watching the news and people were all talking about this hurricane.
I wasn't into weather at the time, but Dorian surely planted a seed for this interest grow into me.
When Dorian saw the prices to Disney World:

you can tell that dorian was always trying to intensify during its entire lifetime. i wonder what kind of strength it could have had if it didnt pound the bahamas.

If it didn’t stall* stalling is why Dorian weakened. Ian died to land interaction after hitting the mainland but Dorian and Irma experienced negligible land interaction that doesn’t even weaken the storm after their landfalls in the Bahamas and in A+B respectively.
