Great footage, Fares! The closeup angle might be the best I've seen, including The Race Club's Maggie MacNeil video. Another thing I noticed during the dive & entry was how perfectly flat she's able to keep her lower back with no arch at all (aka posterior pelvic tilt). Dressel really emphasized in his dryland core workout video that swimmers need to keep the lower back flat & locked in order to develop a neutral position that has posterior pelvic tilt (no arch, flat butt) for streamline, and the lower back only arches at specific times for dolphin kick. You can tell how dialed in she is at keeping her core & hips flat and streamlined at all times.
Awesome eye Fares. You're missing saying a little something -- well, actually it's a big thing. Though I had never noticed Gretchen (or anyone else) actually cross her feet on each other -- your excellent catch!-- the inversion of her feet actually manifests in a better flexibility of the ankle joint. This results in her being able to use that increased plantar flexion to deflect, push, the water backward even more. Even a quarter of an inch more forward thrust would be an inch every four kicks. I teach this to everyone and also measure on a protractor improvements in plantar flexion. We should talk sometime about the inventions and other ways we use to improve that strength and flexibility. Because of you though, I will be experimenting with placing one foot on top of the other a we rotate our toes inward and ankle out (which is somewhat a hip movement). Awesome job -- an I'm saying that from a lot of experience. You are among if not the best popular swimming biomechanist. Keep up the great work and if you'd like to Zoom again with me and Competitive Swimmer Magazine, let's do it!
That’s way too much knee bend! But yes it’s a drill. But then again you should always do drills like you swim a race, it’s that muscle memory thing. So much bending creates more resistance underwater

Muy prudente su observación ,
She got size, power, flexibility, and stamina. These things almost never come together

Glad to hear it! Happy swimming!

Amazing video, great footage, analysis and commentary. Thank you.
Happy swimming!
one of the most beautiful things in the world (also one of the tallest mermaid)
El desempeño de la nadadora es resultado de trabajo de fuerza básica y específica , flexibilidad y gran propiocepción.
BRILLIANT..I practice this with fins...which is a bit more stressful, but good calf work.
Glad this helped! 💪
But amazing
Go Fares, go!
Are you recording at 120 fps?
Yup!

내생에 아무리 수영해도
설명대로 유연하게 수영을 못할 것 같다
Yall got her CAKED up on the thumbnail icl

She's actually not such a great starter, and really doesn't use her arms much at all (which you should for a great FAST start)
Her UNDERWATERS are the best!!!
But she is really good. I like Summer McIntosh more, who is a better swimmer.
