    After racing a mud and rock hair scramble and pretty much lugging it the whole time I noticed a huge difference, stock pipe TSP mapping medium compression head in the white map

    I bought a TSP head for a 23 KTM 250 XC that I planned to build. I ended up selling that bike still in the crate and purchasing a 300 XC. I emailed TSP with the original invoice and ask if I could return unopened and still in the box and exchange for a head for the 300. I had no problem paying any shipping charges and any differences in price. They never acknowledged or responded to my request. I don’t care how good your products are, if you don’t offer decent customer service, I will purchase from companies that do.

    Great review, I don’t like how close the cover is to the rad hose, the moment the rad takes a hit, it will smash the hose line

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  3 месяца назад +2

      Last week I had a problem on the left side. The radiator bent back in a crash, hit the left side PV cover, squashed the lower radiator hose connection and started leaking. I took the radiator off and was able to shape the connection so that it was round enough not to leak when the hose was attached. As such I'm looking for some radiator guard which offer better bend back protection...

    Used similar product on ye old KDX and '04 GG EC300. Degree of effectiveness may depend on the exhaust system used.

      This is not possible because on previous generation engines there is no exhaust chamber under the power valve cover

    Hey so quick update on the PinIT racing version of this. Did a couple mountain single track rides here in UT so high elevation and I could not tell a single difference so IMO these are snake oil... buy at your own risk but I advise just spending that money on a fresh tire and more gas for riding!

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  3 месяца назад

      I can't comment about the Pinit Racing version. Regarding the TSP PV cover, as I showed in the video they have done dyno testing and the difference is clear, so definitely not snake oil. The TSP tune with medium comp head were night and day difference compared to stock.

      PinIT racing is a scam, everything he sells is snake oil. look him up, (AKA "best dual sports bikes")

    I just installed the Pinit racing version of this. Seems both pin it and tsp came out with these about the exact same time. Having used mine only once now but at a Motocross track, I can't really say whether it helps or not, but it really wasn't meant to be used on a Motocross track.

      For MX, as you're typically riding on the pipe at higher rpm, I wouldn't expect there to be a big benefit. Lugging the bike at low speed on steep low traction dirt and rocks is where the low rpm torque and power is really important.

    • @racesla
      @racesla 3 месяца назад

      Noticed a big price difference between this and the and Pinit Racing version, over a $100 cheaper for the Pinit.

      @@racesla Yes that is true.. Which is why I bought the PinIT racing one but hard to say which is more effective.

      @@TokyoOffroad Well there are those pesky rutted MX turns that I'd like to avoid using 2nd gear if possible. My 300SX w/PC Works pipe according to Pinit, may be a bit much into the mid-range.

    I presume that the added grunt on the bottom comes at a cost? Do you feel that any power is lost on the upper end? I race enduros and hare scrambles with my 24 XCW and am pretty happy, but later in the day in the tight stuff the lugging becomes increasingly important.

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  2 месяца назад

      No, it takes nothing away from the top end as it only affects the performance before the power valve opens.

  • @The_Snowbike_Channel

    Tempted to give it a try however nervous of what effect it has on the higher rev power? The TSP dyno chart shows a precipitous drop in power past 5k rpm and the charts ends there without showing rev characteristics after 5k rpm. What has been your impression on WOT operation compared to stock cover?

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad  Месяц назад

      The chamber is closed to exhaust gases at higher rpm, so has no effect on top end.

      No, sealant on the threads is neither recommended, or required. The torque specification in the KTM manual states 6Nm with no threadlock.

      Yes, my stock 2024 300 EXC TBI had very poor fuel economy (worse than a carb bike). But with the TSP map, fuel economy is very reasonable and similar to a TPI. Bike runs really well now with the TSP mods (map, medium compression head and oversized PV cover).

      Thanks for your feedback. My intention is not to mislead anyone regarding what I'm testing and I did include details of the engine mods (TSP Map and medium compression head) and setting (green map) in the the video. To help avoid any confusion I just updated the video title to "Two Stroke Performance Oversized PV Cover- Install and Ride Impressions (with TSP Power kit)". I also added some more detail to the description of the video regarding the mods on my bike: "Testing was performed using the TSP Power Kit (medium compression head and TSP Map 3BE-24-J) and Green map, with FMF Fatty pipe and Moto Tassinari VForce4X Reed Valve." Hope it's clearer now.

      a whole lot of ktm/husky riders have an aftermarket exhaust, race head and tuned ecu and/or maps. a lot of ktm/husky riders mostly chase gains due to the emissions and possibility of much more power with it with the dreaded emissions. either way power delivery will still be different in any application and will improve low to mid range by some margin.
