    Great Job Paul!! I am so glad the of the response this crazy Challenge has received. Beautiful piece of wood, and a beautiful goblet Rebecca and Henry will cherish it.

    Great turn Paul! Did you grind the tool you used to make the rings yourself or did it come that way?

      Thanks, Chris. No grinding, it came like that. This was the first time I used it. On the first two of these that I turned I used a spindle gouge to shape the rings and a parting tool to break them free and that worked just as well for me.

    did you sand the rings at all or just tool finish? Great job by the way on the project. Thanks.

      Hi Mark, thank you for your comment. Yes, I sanded as much as possible just prior to breaking each one free. Then, after they are free I sand the back edge. The best suggestion that I can offer is to sand everything to its final grit before they are free, and when you break them free do it VERY gradually. The more gentle you are when you break them free, the less chip-out you will have, and the easier your sanding will be.
