I’m glad that me and the 6 audio listeners heard them complain about the School System, promote merch, and talk about vaping. Also, schlatt, thanks for making a Multi-Level Marketing scheme, I’m making hundreds of dollars a year now!
My dad has a degree in chemistry and he has like a bunch of random patents from his work in college/grad school/work, but the only time I see him use chemistry in every day life was during the pandemic where he formulated his own weed killer for our yard. Homemade weed killer. I’m now worried about what else he has the ability to “homemake”, I can only hope he uses his knowledge for good.
Honestly though, a top tip for creators is to have a simple mascot that people can draw fanart of. If you draw fanart of a creator you’re likely to get more attached to them at the same time, and thus, the infection and spread.
5:10 The exact thing happened to me but the opposite. My mom lied about courses i DID take and i was a year behind the entirety of highschool. This did lead me to having an enjoyable highschool career since i had a year more experience to all my classmates but it did hurt my college options. That single act of ignorance by my mother changed the whole course of my life.
I took a computer class in middle school and all we did was learn how to type on a keyboard without looking at the keys. That shit was the biggest waste of time because here I am 10 years later still typing at 50wpm, but at least I'm not getting bad grades for it. Mr. Scott I hope you see this while listening to the Sleep Deprived Podcast Episode 86 and have a wonderful and blessed day
I remember getting Flappy Bird like, the week before it was taken off the app store. Then afterwards people were selling their iPads and iPhones for over $1000 because it had Flappy Bird on it.
This made me realize how different our cultures are, regarding money. Apart from paying off your house, having debts is a way more unusal thing here in Germany. The normal German mindset regarding money is, you only spend money you have.
I have an anatomy class in my high school and instead of dissecting frogs, they dissected dead cats every year. You could tell it was that time of year too bc the hallrooms stank of embalming fluid they put the cats in to preserve them.
Oh my god Schlatt just changed my life, the whole Windows + Shift + S is awesome. Now Im dumb, but im not dumb enough to download a spyware. What I did was Windows + Print Screen.
Schlatts rant about screenshoting and just general computer literacy hit so hard for someone that works in IT and deals with these kinds of people all day
In terms of computer work and shortcuts I completely agree. I live in the UK so while our education system is also shit, I took ITC (computer stuff) and they STILL DIDN'T TEACH US SHORTCUTS. I now take graphics design at college because I want to go onto university and this is the first time in 18 years that anyone has taught me keyboard shortcuts like screenshot, saving files, EVEN FILE MANAGEMEMT! Why is it that we aren't taught from a young age how to file manage, I've been living in complete dissaray with my files because no one taught me wtf onedrive is or how to use until I joined college. That's ridiculous.
As someone currently finishing their Bachelor’s in Education- YES. All of this, YES. And we absolutely have the knowledge to see that our school system isn’t working, but unfortunately, that’s half the intention. We can say we provided the vast majority of kids with education, we can SAY that we have an educated population, but the vast majority of people are just literate and educated enough to serve as menial labor. It’s the same problem with standardized testing- it is not a form of authentic assessment and it’s NOT actually meant to show learning, it’s pointless. I could go on, but I really appreciate that you guys are talking about this kind of stuff
My school actually had a computer literacy class but it was an elective. a lot of things I've leaned in that class I've used almost daily and also that's how I found out about newegg and how to run a budget spreadsheet and plan out expenses based on your income and monthly taxes and expenses.
When I listened to this on Spotify I was working on dumb mole calculations as they were talking about chemistry It also turns out my school offers financial literacy as an elective and boy is it helpful, I actually have learned a lot from Dave Ramsey and my teacher is actually cool!
3:14 yeah I started smoking and quit, then I started vaping, and I ended up spending way more than when I smoked, and I was constantly doing it so I stopped. Then I started smoking again and it’s a lot better, even if it just as if not more unhealthy cuz I don’t care. Helped me get out and walk more also
Markiplier is from Ohio! He went to Milford High School and his old band director Bosco was my director at Thomas More University! Very chill guy and had some fun stories about his "apparently famous" former student.
Here’s something you could do with a chemistry degree… we had 2 chem students who went on to do R&D for a beer company. They wanted to someday brew their own unique beers and wines You could also go on to make meth too. My teacher said he did it once but he didn’t try it (he didn’t tell us what he did with it tho)
As a chemical engineer student I can tell that we don't use that much chemistry, obviously we know how it works but for industrial application it's just fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, chemical and physical properties
I will say in my high school I did have an economics course and it did definitively teach me some decent skills like debt, credit cards, stocks, buying a home, etc. the problem was this class was completely fucking optional and barley pushed to be taken
to add on to schlatt’s computer literacy class, people need to understand their phones and social media as well. ive seen so many of my minor peers post shirtless pics on public accounts. 😨😨😨
I was homeschooled K - 12 and honestly, unless your parents are qualified to teach do not do it. I didn't know a ton of stuff by the time I was in college. Now I'm basically struggling through college lol. I'm also very mentally ill and unsociable. So honestly I would not reccomend it.
I wanna buy the merch so bad but it’s not my style I think imma just wait and hope y’all start dropping stuff that looks a lil better in the future or wait tell y’all sell more accessory type things that are less of a commitment

Who would have known Schlatt is German 🤔
How come?
I listened to this on Spotify earlier and this actually might be one of the best podcast episodes yet
I was just thinking this is the most sound and sane sounding episode they've made
You obviously didnt watch the patreon segment. It sucked. They pretended to rap as trump then did the most boring set of call ins yet.

Jesse we need to make weed killer
does he go into the desert randomly in his RV sometimes?
This is the best podcast to listen to while playing Flappy Bird instead of dissecting a frog for my biology class
It's very entertaining to hear them talking about things they actually like.
Yeah the xd random jelking humor gets old when it takes up the entire episode like 3 eps straight. Taking a break now and then is a real good idea
This is the best podcast to listen to while buying a pack of cigarettes

Markiplier was born in Hawaii but lived most his life in Ohio. Because of that he usually says he's from Ohio. So your both right.

Lol-
This episode got all the brain cells back that I lost from the last 85 episodes
The foreshadowing in this episode is crazy quite brave of schlatt to convey his plans to derail that train on a public podcast
This made me realize how different our cultures are, regarding money. Apart from paying off your house, having debts is a way more unusal thing here in Germany. The normal German mindset regarding money is, you only spend money you have.
Genuinely one of my favorite podcast episodes despite them saying that chemistry is useless.
I think this video taught me more about credit cards than school ever has.
I never thought I would say this but I genuinely learned something on the sdp
i fell asleep listening to mika’s voice and crashed onto a lamppost

One of the most down to earth SD episodes so far, loving this (:
Vaping while listening to this, also went into crippling debt buying the sweatshirt
Wait till they take advanced biology where it’s almost mainly chemistry
Fellow Debtoids, this was a great episode, amiright?

This is no joke a great episode. I loved the more serious discussion on credit cards and the school system.
