Laughing so hard here, Cathy & Gina - it's like watching two little girls in a sweet shop 😂 ...Oh, & Gina, guard that gold TWSBI with your life...I could see Cathy permanently borrowing that writing instrument. In regard to your expected vacuum bottle, there really is no need to invert same when filling, I've been using mine for ten plus years with all my TWSBI's - never once have I spilt any ink on either myself or the surface I am using as support....Take care both, Best, Andrew 😉
Thanks Andrew! I was hoping that Gina and I weren't the only ones entertained by these videos. And you don't have to worry about Gina. I try to remind her that medium nibs are far too narrow for her taste but, unfortunately, she's willing to make an exception for her TWSBI Mini Rose Gold. I guess I'll have to find one of my own. 😂
Ha, Cathy ! I have a 1923 triple broad fountain pen that Gina would, no doubt, find acceptable 😉, tho' I imagine you would be able to paint your living room walls with it - when 18K gold nibs were somewhat more common in the Western world; I use it mostly for calligraphic endeavours. I suppose, dollar for dollar, TWSBI's are amongst the best value writing instruments you can purchase at that price point. I notice you've been using a Pelikan branded ink, recently...I'm still waiting for you to purchase an M200/M400 - the latter having a 14K gold nib, & of course, the commensurate reaction thereafter...enjoy your evening, Best, Andrew ✒
Love watching these videos with you and your sister. Hope you do a pilot nib video next. I actually bought 3 pens based on popular opinion: Sailor KOP, Lamy 2k and Pilot 823. I've actually been disappointed with all three. The KOP nib is great but the pen is heavy. I write for hours at a time and it's too much. The Lamy 2k is too slippery and the 823 is just nothing special. I actually pulled the nib and put it in a Ranga Abhimanyu which i find much more interesting. The Lamy I gifted. The KOP I'm hoping will grow on me.
Thanks, Robin! I'm looking forward to our Pilot video, too! Now Gina and I just have to find time to do it. She has a job and that just gets in the way of all our fun. 😆 I had the opportunity to try a Lamy 2k when I visited Appelboom and the instant I held it in my hand I knew it wasn't for me. I'm glad you also mentioned the KOP and 823. Those are 2 pens I've seriously considered getting but haven't handled in person. I few months ago I came a KOP at an insanely good price but I had just recently purchased a Pro Gear (21k MF) and it feels like the perfect size Sailor pen for me so I skipped the KOP. I love writing with the Pro Gear so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. I feel similarly about the Pilot 823. I love my Vanishing Point (18k F) and my Custom Heritage 92 (14k F) so I don't really feel the need to upgrade to the 823.
Yes Pilot stub review💯 I have a Pilot Plumix, it is my only stub experience, and it is kinda sharp feeling. I've been wondering if the Metro stub is the same nib? This Plumix has printed on the nib and I've noticed some say ? Looking forward to whatever y'all want to post though 😀 thanks
I've had two CM nibs and they both felt very smooth, but I also had a Pilot 78G that had a broad nib that looked like a CM nibs. Like the CM nibs, it didn't have any tipping, but like your Plumix nib, it felt kind of sharp. I've written with Gina's Vanishing Point stub and I liked it, but I can't remember how it compared to the CM. I'm looking forward to comparing them. 😀
Have you tried a HM 21kSailor? It was my first Sailor and I hated it for the first two years, found it too fine, but a few years ago it became my favourite nib. So happy I didn’t sell it.
@@pepperpath The only Sailor 21k nib I've used so far is the medium-fine (and I LOVE it). It's interesting that your taste changed so drastically. What was your favorite nib before?
I started with fine nibs then switched them all to JOWO medium and broad stubs! (Don’t know what I was thinking!) but now I’m back to Jowo fine, pilot fine, sailor mf, and fine SIG. the sailor 21k HM is one of my broadest lol ( oh, and Pelikan ef!
Kathy, I agree. I DO NOT like to stick the pen in the ink either, drives me nuts, because about 90% of the time you can't see where the pen is and or the piston. I use a syringe in pen all the time. I am not a piston filler too much. I do have 3. I am a converter person. I will pull the nib and feed on my Wingsung 698 and syringe fill it.
I know what you mean! Michael from the RUclips channel Scrively tried to ink up a Pelikan and submerged it a little too far. Ink got between the section and barrel and he was heartbroken. I syringe fill if at all possible. 😀
@@gadgetstop321 See there is the grand example and the pen probably does not get washed because they are in too much of a hurry to write with it. I soak mine overnight. Thanks for the feedback! And thank your sister for coming on with you and sharing her thoughts!
My son purchased a Sheaffer Ferrari 100 Rubber Tire Tread Fountain Pen for my birthday 10-12 years ago. It was really my 1st real … standard fountain pen. It is not an expensive Sheaffer, SS “M” nib, but it has sedimental value. The barrel & cap are coated with rubber the looks like tire tread, very grippy, but the section where you grasp the pen by the feed, highly polished chrome plating! It was miserable to initially write with for me. I took a steel brush on a drill and roughed up (removed most of the chrome plating). Uncapped, the section you grasp looked so trashy, but it allows me to grip the pen finally. I don’t use it as much now with so many other pens, but in my book, if you can’t use a pen to write with, it gets put away. What a waste! Sheaffer has/had been sold a few times, left the US, was owned by BIC, French company last I looked. It’s not complete junk, but no where near what it used to be. I just wouldn’t purchase a pen that has shiny metal in the grip section! I also don’t like fountain pens with a ring at the end of the grip section. I had horrible experiences with a bunch of Jinhaos that X450s, etc…, that ink would get under those rings, and then ink would seep out regardless of cleaning them after inking. (I always dipped in too far, and ink would cover those rings). When writing, the pen would ..heat up just enough to cause the small amount of ink under the ring to flow out onto my hands. I found that this design, unless made by a quality manufacturer, and tolerances are kept very tight, and ink can’t get under the ring. I don’t use TWSBI, and Pelikan ~1000, 800, 600, 400, & 300, series have that ring of sorts. Maybe TWSBI/Pelikan don’t have this issue, but until I jump in & but one, I not know… 🤷♂️ Maybe I’m being too picky! Thanks for the video ladies. 😎👍😊
@@strshooter7399 You're welcome! This is just my opinion, but if a $3 Pilot Varsity or a $5 Platinum Preppy can write perfectly 99% of the time, why can't they all? When I pay extra to write with a fountain pen instead of a gel pen or rollerball, I feel entitled to be picky. 😀 The main reason I avoid dipping a metal section ring in ink is that I've seen too many nice used pens on eBay, but that little ring is corroded. That's one thing I worry about with my Custom 98 and the two Legnos. They're nice pens but they all have that little ring. I wonder if that has something to do with Pilot discontinuing them. I'm hoping that inking them up with an ink syringe will prevent any damage in the long run. I used to wonder if the people who designed pens with chrome sections ever wrote with them, but Gina says they don't bother her. I wonder what percent of people like writing with a pen that has a chrome section. 🤔
TWSBI uses Jowo nibs, so the sizing is European in an Asian made barrel and section. With your taste for Pilot & Japanese pens, you should choose a size down for TWSBI. I love their F nibs.
Yeah, that caught me by surprise when I got my TWSBI Mini (F). I thought I'd heard somewhere that TWSBI nibs were made by Jowo, but I was afraid to mention it because the TWSBI nibs look so much different when compared to the standard Jowo nibs. I still like Pilot fine nibs, both steel and gold, better than the TWSBI EF and F, but when you get up to the mediums, I think TWSBI is my new favorite. 😀
I only tune-in for your accents, im going to start using your vids to lull me off to sleep.
LOL! Nighty night 😴
I love the accents. I watch all her videos because of the accent. Nieb! ❤
Great vid, thanks for sharing. Would be good to see a video from your sister of her top 5 pens.
That's a great idea! She has some nice ones. 😀
Nice review/discussion of TWSBI pens and other topics. Thanks much!!!

If I ever get another TWSBI, I'll probably go for the medium. The one I wrote with in this video was nice! 😀
