love this song. many IRA volunteers and fighters had their combat or formal military training in the British Army, Irish Army, US Army, Canadian Army, Rhodesian Army, South African Army, and the French Foreign Legion.
@@colinthedog264 Actually I would imagine it is more about the War of Independence 1919-1921, but I think you'll find that many of the men of 1916 and of 1919-21 were ex-servicemen..........mainly ex British Army. (Tom Barry is one shining example, but there were many others), and I seem to recall reading that there was at least one American in the GPO in 1916. But whatever, the sentiments of the song and the sacrifice of the volunteers are what matter.............beidh an bua againn.
Hi Philip, it's me, You! Writing from the new account after 4Chan did a number on you/me. It hasn't been easy, dealing with so many perverts but just know that you're better now, the PTSD is easing but yeah, they really killed the Cassiopaean in Spain 2021-23, "for being truthful and a devoted father the envious, parasite-ridden "disease chickens" tried to destroy you 😢
The Republican movement need to embrace Connolly again, and fucking mean it. There needs to a workers' republic or none at all. And I don't mean some grim police state that the Leninists in Ireland pretend he meant. A democratic confederation of communities, ran by those communities, represented by people that live among them, that are simply their mouthpiece, and can be immediately recalled should the community be dissatisfied by their performance. Actual, real socialism.
Aaron Boone dream on men like Connolly and pearse no longer exist in this shit hole it's all about the money...do you think history will hold Adam's and mcguinness in the same league as those men? I don't.
@@ozzy85Mpower Ozzy it’s not comparing apples for apples. very different times very different circumstances. regardless of what you think about Adams and McGuinness, violence as a tool for the republican movement had run its course. after 9/11 Al-Qaeda and everything that went along with it ,violence have no place in Irish politics. violence has no place in any politics today. The question was a pragmatic political question what is the maximum that we can get today. Adams and the Guinness got the maximum. The fringe Republicans today are nothing but glorified provos and scumbag drug dealers… parasites on their own community.
God bless Kathleen Largey. She never took a penny from any of her recordings. Every bit when to Republican causes.

For every rebel song, there's a version that outranks the others. For Boys of the Old Brigade, I think that version is Largey's right here.
She was a brilliant singer; what a shame she died so young.
