Sir i think 1st draw commen tangent and then after draw normal which is perpendicular to comman tangent which is must always passes through pitch point of two gear because without comman tangent , normal can not possible and if you draw then which basis it's normal from which linw it's normal or perpendicular? at the point of contact we draw a normal .at this point we draw two different velocity how it is possible?? as we know that at one point two velocity at different direction is impossible

As u know the velocity has two components vertical and horizontal. Here to calculate the velocity in horizontal direction it's horizontal component cos@ is used.

how can you draw normal to a point.as far as i know you gotta draw a tangent through the point of contact first and then normal to the tangent
