Los Angeles is a crap shoot too its just they hide it better. I think it comes down to the team. I am a huge giants fan and its sad to see the lack of real talent coming through our farm. While I think we are not Angels levels of awful at producing talent. We are just outclassed by the dodgers rn in a big way. I think we are trying to copy them at their game when we could build teams around pitching and run prevention. The dodgers pitching is good for a couple years then get super injury prone. We can turn random guys into frontline pitchers and combining that with defense and small ball will bring this organization back into its peak again. Same money will never work when they produce better talent than us consistently.
@@James_Ford4815no, I’m a native and SF is such a terrible city now. Violence, theft and political leaders making millions in office while ignoring the city (Nancy Pelosi). I would rather live in LA than SF. The south is better than both, and safer.
I live in SF. Most of the city is a S#!TSHOW. Besides, in the past, and now, most of the Giants players don't live there, they live in nearby communities with better living conditions. (The same could be said for A's players/Oakland). The primary reason most players won't sign there is the ballpark. Oracle Park punishes hitters, and while not as cold as Candlestick Park was, night games still get chilly there

@@dailyamperes it's the constant light handed approach to the crime. The higher ups in SF literally tie the hands of law enforcement and because of that businesses suffered both local and corporate. The crime is so bad that people just straight up left. The homeless issue is become so bad, the higher ups don't care about at all, with record number of homeless people battling their inner demons and subjecting themselves to lethal doses of fetynal and other drugs. And the what's worse is the city has the capability of cleaning up the city, it was proven when the Chinese came to SF all the homeless were rounded up overnight and moved (where I don't know)but proves that the city can do it, they just don't care. At least the violent crime rate isn’t high.
People are reaching. Everyone knew the Dodgers were the frontrunners. They have a winning track record and Ohtani has lived in Southern California ever since moving to the US so it's the more convenient option and maybe he prefers the weather and other aspects of Southern California life.
Most people don't want to spend time there. It's awful. Literally homeless per capita highest in the country. Human feces everywhere. Terrible drainage system. Basically allowing crime to just happen 💀. Who wants to go there.
I visited San Francisco in 2019. I saw a homeless man punch a woman in the face. The Uber driver said "Welcome to San Francisco." Oh and we got lost in the Tenderloin. That was an experience.
I once took the red pill... wandered down a rabbit hole, learned Kung-Fu, and watched pigs fly. Maybe you should try that instead of running amok in a big city. "Welcome to SF," it's more like "Welcome to America."

You may be correct in saying that wasn't the reason Ohtani didn't choose the Giants, but I wouldn't go as far as to call Buster Posey's take a dumb one. He's a pretty intelligent guy, and gets information that we wouldn't have. He didn't just pull those comments out of thin air. He knows better than to do that.
@@patron40silver The Dodgers give him the best shot only at making the postseason because of how mediocre the NL West has been the past decade, not winning a World Series. They've made the postseason for a decade straight, but only have 1 ring (Yes, it is a ring even though Dodgers fans are the only ones to count it as a ring). Hopefully Ohtani can take the Dodgers somewhere because they've had superstars on their team to only flop in the postseason consistently. I still wouldn't put it against the Dodgers to continue to lose in the postseason even after signing Ohtani.
As someone who lived in San Fran half my life, it’s never safe but we all know that. My dads car got robbed at night, I saw multiple fights happen. Shit that you don’t see everyday. Judge was smart to not go here. Everyone was.
Yea same. I live in SF and have friends who lives here for years. I think one of things people who dont live in SF or go here, realize that the rly bad parts of SF are around touristy areas and down town. And those kind of grimy areas exist in other big cities too. As a native of San Francisco, I have always believed that this city was turning into hell. I don't blame any big name star for wanting to play there. Honestly, who would want to play in a city that makes you pay an arm and a leg for a simple meal, deal with the rate of crime, and more importantly, how the city has become so divided? It is why I have moved to South Korea because at least there, there is safety, whereas in SF, it's like living in hell. I love my hometown of San Francisco and all of its wonders, but sadly, it has turned into the biggest shithole in the nation.
I visited South Korea last October and found it even more pleasing than my previous visits. Having lived here in US for most of my life and watching the decay of politics, morality and civility, I too am considering moving back to Korea. I felt very safe wherever I went in Korea. I could even walk down dark any alley and felt completely safe. I mean, they have stores where there is no employee in sight. That is impossible in LA or SF or any city here in US. And the streets are clean as well as in public transit area.
I love your channel but this video was kind of a fail. Look, I lived in Cali for over 30+ years and I moved out of there so believe me I am not a huge fan of that place. BUT, the fact of the matter is that San Francisco is a MUCH safer city than Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, the list goes on. And believe me brother....the homelessness and gang activity is a hundred times worse down in LA than in SF. The notion that Ohtani chose the Dodgers over the Giants because of crime is laughable. I get it, sportstalk and youtubers need something to talk about every day, but you're better than this.
@@iTalkStudios Not sure what you mean....did Buster say Ohtani chose LA because of the crime in SF? I may have missed something in the video. Anyway, I'm sure crime rates play some kind of factor in where a player chooses, but why do star NBA players seem to flock to the Warriors? And how do very violent cities like Baltimore and Philly manage to attract anybody at all? It still seems laughable to me. Especially considering after retiring to Georgia, Buster Posey himself moved BACK to San Francisco with his family lol.
Terrible take. Worst.take.ever. You DO realize that the Giants did something in 2010-14 that the dodgers have not come close to, right? Now, compare the homeless encampments in the bay to the ones in la. Yeah, that's what thought. @iTalkStudios you blew this one majorly.
I can't imagine the drug and homeless problems in SF played much of a factor tbh. Though LA is known for Hollywood and Beverly Hills, I'm sure Shohei is very aware of those same issues here if not worse than the bay. It's a bigger market and name. LA just provides more opportunities for him to win and make money aside from the contract.

@@Jdubflyer55 They decriminalized theft up to $900... That's a plain and simple, dumbed-down example of how politics play a part. If you cant connect the dots there then this is why cities like SF, Chicago, New York, LA have a downfall being soft on crime.
San Fransico has the highest rate of car break-in in the entire US. The Politics part comes in because they literally have laws there that prevent prosecuters from putting these people away. That's why you see videos of people constantly stealing bags worth of stuff under 950$ and just walking away. Mark Rober - the guy who does the porch pirate fake glitter and fart spray bombs did a video in San Fransisco and the amount of people attempting to break into the car in broad day light was astounding. What a garbage low-hanging take. SF has been a punching bag for years, even though it’s problems are shared by virtually every big city. These are serious issues, but they’ve been blown out of proportion relative to the rest of the country. Property crime is particularly heightened in San Francisco, but cities like St Louis have far more dangerous violent crimes and there’s never a peep in terms of baseball. I’ve seen a handful of videos from this account, but it’s good to know it stoops down to the politicized sensationalism that inundates the news cycle. I’ll mute and move on
So... Buster Posey for Mayor, roll out a police state, mass incarcerations, the people of SF did this to themselves... GOT IT, that's absolutely brilliant. Just maybe... we can get obscenely rich, Japanese guys to come here to throw a ball around.
Are you forreal? LA is so much worse when it comes to homeless. I have actually been to SF recently and a lot as I live near there. This is so much hyperbole but right wing media orgs.
Dude. Look at reality. There's no defending San Francisco. It has nothing to do with right wing anything, it's as simple as drugs and homelessness taking over. I specifically said in the video that LA has issues as well, all of California does, but SF is the most notable right now.
@@iTalkStudios but LAs homeless problem is exponentially greater. Skid row is just a portion of LAs problem and it’s HUGE. Sf just gets more attention. This is a very close call... but I think LA wins the ghetto contest, sorry.
SF has always been a boom bust town. The techies deserted The City & live in your precious suburbs. leaving the downtown hollowed out, with million dollar condos & an over built office core. What you see on the streets of San Francisco is wealth inequality. The US system is broken & SF is paying for that. This is an AMERICAN problem, a problem with homelessness, drug abuse & a mental health issue. Baseball dont mean shit to the lives of any empathic person that can see. You want to hide away in a burb, worship over paid cry babys or you can shut up & find real solutions. Otanai's 700 Million Is Part Of The Problem.
I don't think it's crime. All major cities have increased crime. I think for hitters, it's the wind, moisture and ballpark dimensions that deter hitters.
Weird. The Warriors don’t seem to have this problem 🤷♂️. The Giants are blaming the fact that they have no future on the city they play in. Players are not refusing to come because of the city. They’re refusing to come because the roster is trash. Queens is in a far worse situation than San Francisco and the Mets have not had an issue grabbing stars the past couple seasons.
Between 2002-2004 (Ohtani was 8 to 10 years old) the Dodger rotation had Nomo and ishii. Who do you think was his favorite team at the time? Most of us start watching baseball. You're welcome.
The thing about SF being dangerous is that LA is no different. I'm a Dodger fan, over the moon that we got Ohtani, but I only ever go to LA for Dodgers games and maybe a convention if possible. It's not a SF or LA problem, it's a California problem, sadly. I don't know if the rest of the US is the same, but it's a problem.
LA has some very nice areas tho and the stadium is separated from the city, that’s not saying some lowlifes don’t get into the Dodger stadium area, but In SF it’s not separate and it’s in a real bad part of town. I noticed when I went that the drug and homeless issue extends right to the front gates.
I agree that LA has its issues, especially with homeless and theft. I've seen people shooting up in the open and walking out of stores with full cases of beer, but then I look at cities like Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, and Baltimore and say to myself "well it could be worse". Maybe, American cities in general are completely fucked.
The problem is that there are housing crises in cities especially. I live in the San Fernando valley (probably know where it is if you live in LA) one of the nicest areas in all of LA. But downtown/east/south LA are all full of graffiti, crime and all of that. Taxes are a big part of it, however it’s not for the reason many republicans especially think. Tax rates in California are higher than almost anywhere in earth, but we have a 20 dollar minimum wage, higher than anywhere else in the country, and we tax the poor much less rigorously than the rich. The job market has expanded under Biden, the quality of life has generally increased. The problem is mostly interest rates/inflation that has plummeted both San Francisco and Los Angeles. People can’t afford homes and it’s mostly because of COVID, so my point is that we can blame COVID for all our problems.
I live in Vegas. I go to California for sporting events and concerts that aren't coming here. I spent a collective 6 years living between San Diego and san francisco from '08-'14 and that state has gone completely to shit. They need the governator back.
Does SF have problems? Yes, every large city does(including LA). Is that they why they lost out on Ohtani? No. From my understanding, the Giants offered Ohtani the same deal the Dodgers did. He took the Dodgers offer because he genuinely likes So Cal a lot. Nothing more or less.

This is a stupid narrative, San Francisco had and have many stars in sports including the star studded Warriors, and the 49ers are stack. The Giants last couple of years of not landing free agents has nothing to do with SF. LA and NY have very similar problems and neither have any of these cities seen issues landing stars.
Dude, SF isn't nearly as bad as LA is. I've been to both cities multiple times. Almost all major cities in California have some spots that are straight up terrible. It's a horribly expensive place to live, and anywhere there's a high poverty line there's high crime. Until a lot of these places become cheaper to live and thrive in, we're going to keep seeing horrible conditions in major cities across America. NYC is the same way. So is Miami. So is every major American city.
Ok Tucker if the Giants were winning the division every year and willing to spend over luxury tax and had the Dodgers roster Ohtani would be a San Francisco Giant thank you Tucker

San Francisco isn’t perfect by any means but it hurts to see all this hate for a city that still stands out heads above most other places in the country.
It's one of the weirdest echo chambers that I've ever seen, man. And I've seen some weird ones. To make a long story short, it's a combination of those traumatized by the city... in one way or another, or people just wanting to hate on a "Liberal" city... even though most big cities are Liberal...? It makes zero sense.
It would have taken him like 5 seconds to google it. In San Francisco, January is the coldest with an average high of 57F and an average low of 46F. June is about 10F warmer with an average high of 69F and an average low of 55F. At least I knew I could stop watching the video at that point. lol
@naranjojo Ok it's not the coldest month, but I've been told it was. And does it really matter? Ok it's 10 degrees warmer than the coldest month. It was cold when I was there. That was the point. You're just looking for something to get angry about most likely because you don't agree with the larger points I said in the video
@@iTalkStudios haha... sorry. I went ahead and watched the rest of the video now. So far, Shohei has only given one reason for choosing Los Angeles, and that is to win. He did say there were other reasons, though. As a native Angeleno, I'd love to think that he was choosing our city as much as our team, but we've got problems down here also.
It’s not that it’s the coldest month it’s that June is surprisingly cold in California. It’s literally called the June Gloom. While January may be colder on average, the likelihood of being caught out without a jacket in June is greater
If San Francisco was such a bad destination, explain the 49ers being able to sign stars. Explain the Warriors. Zaidi has just made the Giants a joke of a team. Every player just uses us for a bigger contract negotiation. They know we're desperate for star power and use that to their advantage. Aka Judge, Ohtani etc. We get players that are trying to bounce back or past their best years and it just doesn't pan out. We have a solid young core coming in with Bailey, Schmitt etc. We need to continue developing our young players and sign some game changer professional athletes. Not just athletes but professionals. Meaning they wake up with the only goal of improving to ultimately lift that coveted trophy come October.
Moving to anywhere in the US from Japan is a steep downgrade in safety. Japanese players are literally risking their lives by making the move. That being said, the current state of san francisco probably had little to no impact on Ohtani’s decision. He is made of money and can shield himself from the worst that america has to offer. The Dodgers being the best team in socal was the clincher.
I visited Boston a few years back and I saw a part of town that was incredibly sketchy and gross. its almost like these neighborhoods are in every major city!
As a sf citizen, in certain parts of the city the drug problem and homeless problem is terrible but where athletes will stay like in pacific heights and Lafayette and Marina are good.
Even if San Francisco & LA were on the exact same level as far as the city itself is concerned, of course Ohtani chooses LA over San Francisco when the offers are identical. Dodgers have a winning culture and boast an extremely dangerous lineup even without Ohtani. Plug him in between Betts & Freeman and watch the insane numbers he's gonna put up. Who does San Francisco have to hit behind Ohtani to keep pitchers honest with him, Mike Yastrzemski?!
@@Jdubflyer55 i agree, but if you told anyone at the deadline Scutaro was gonna be the NLCS MVP and bat second on a World Series winning team they would've thought you were crazy. Anyways, yes, Scutaro was an interesting story, he spent a good portion of his career with Oakland. He was more of a scrappy player, who had a solid career, but far from great. There are all kinds of people who analyze the game as if it's a science. Someone from the Giants must have noticed something with Scutaro during that time and they took a chance on him. From that point on, all he did was smack the ball all over the place. You're right, big free agents typically go to only a handful of teams. The New York teams, Boston, Philly, Chicago Cubs, LA, and Texas. Make no mistake, the Dodgers are very good and they look even better on paper. Key words though, "on paper" because those are a lot of egos on one team and baseball is a team sport. Yep. They did it to My St. Louis city starting in 1950. Fast forward 73 years. We’re nothing now. This is what SF will become. Democrats destroy everything they touch
LA has a huge homeless issue as well but its spread out over a wider area. There's nothing you see in SF that you don't see in Seattle. The least of SF's problems is its naked cyclists. There are no homes available for hard working mid-high income folks let alone the working poor and those unemployed homeless folks battling addiction and mental illness.
As someone who lives in SF and someone who’s lived in the Bay Area my whole life. It sucks to see the perception SF has on players and the rest of the country. I really think the problems this video says about the city are overblown, and other big cities have similar problems. Not to say the problems dont exist. The only difference is that SF’s grimy areas happen to be downtown and in touristy areas, where thats not the case in other big cities like LA, Chicago, etc. SF actually ranks pretty low in violent crimes compared to other major cities in the country. Don’t get me wrong, SF def has its problems, especially with homeless people and drug use, but its not as bad as its been made out to seem. Im glad the vid tho highlights that we shouldnt be upset at the Giants front office for not landing stars
On SF 1:51 in, "Who runs it, the people in charge, and the policies in place, and it's actually expected that it would become trash." - Pretty spot on.
I lived in SF for the first 6 years of my life, but moved to a small town about 30 minutes from SF and still went to the city often to go to my dad’s softball games. I’ll say the city has def gotten worse as time has gone on. I moved to AZ in 2020 so I haven’t really gone to the city much. Although I went back to SF this summer and was shocked how many homeless people were there and how much of a mess the city is in. My dad lived in SF for 20 years and he was shocked that the city he lived in for 2 decades and loved is the way it is now. I’ve always had a soft spot for SF bc im a huge Giants fan and I pretty much grew up in SF and it pains me to say this, but the city is a flat out mess rn. The city was once beautiful, but now it has turned into a dump. One thing that really stood out to me tho is how many fans r saying the reports that SF is a dump now is just right wing propaganda bc I can say it’s def not. The homeless surround Oracle Park and they have homeless shelters right outside the ballpark and my guess is players live right outside where the homeless r so I can’t say I blame FAs for passing up on signing with the Giants
Such a shame. And they are such an historic franchise. Just like the A's were. That was also "right wing propaganda" until it wasn't. And the Warriors moved from Oakland to SF will they be moving again? Not such a "golden state", more like the needle state. Such bullshit
I like how everyone who makes fun of Minnesota are people who have just never been there lol yes our sports teams make us want to cry but it is an amazing place to live
looking at the title and I have to admit … LA and NY have similar problems to SF in terms of crime, homelessness and high cost of living. what do LA and NY have that SF don’t have ? good rosters that will attract FAs to choose them in order to give them a chance of winning. not a surprise ohtani chose to team up with mookie betts, freddie freeman and will smith over austin slater, wilmer flores and lamonte wade jr.
Ok, maybe I'm pausing too quick and you correct this at some point in the video, but there's no way you meant to say that "June is the coldest month of the year for San Francisco.". Furthermore, there's no way you actually believe that June is the coldest month in San Fran either, right? And just to be sure, fair and safe, I googled that shit and sure enough, it's not even close to being the coldest month..
the geography isnt what kept ohtani in socal. he loves socal. the giants not being a GOOD TEAM is why they didnt land ohtani. thats facts. it wasnt about the money it was about his chances of winning. people overlooking that are overlooking the biggest part of the deal. he wanted to win. the giants dont win consistently enough. he wanted a great ran organization. not a medicore one. the dude who used to work for the dodgers who works for the giants now isnt great management org wide. bad take

Ohtani didn't sign with the Giants because it's a literal toss up if they make the playoffs each year , LA is damn near a lock to make the playoffs every year ...
Another factor could of been how hard it is to hit home runs in Oracle Park ... Remember Ohtani isn't like Barry Bonds who pulled most of his home runs , Ohtani likes gap home runs and dead center home runs which are the furthest distances in Oracle Park
As a native, SF is a trash city. Gone down hill in the last 10 years. Bad leadership.
@@James_Ford4815no, I’m a native and SF is such a terrible city now. Violence, theft and political leaders making millions in office while ignoring the city (Nancy Pelosi). I would rather live in LA than SF. The south is better than both, and safer.

I went there in the late 2000s and i remember being in awww of the city ive heard it has gone downhill and is very difficult to afford. Its a real shame.
San Fran is one of those beautiful cities ruined by a government that failed to maintain it, just like Chicago
They’ll ruin the entire country if we let them. They’re importing an army through our southern border
Chicago is way nicer than SF
When a city doesn't punish crime, what do you expect?
I think you're totally wrong, Oakland got Shintaro Fujinami, I don't think the city had anything to do with it. More to do with the fact that the Dodgers didn't require him to move from his established home.
His right wing talking points are getting old. Big cities have issues... grow up.
He's getting big enough to a point if one person with 10x following of him catches wind of it will ruin his entire life. Lol his channel has exploded to fast and its getting to his head
I’ll mute and move on
Buster Posey should run to be the Mayor of San Francisco.
And then we'll see what he can do.
He won't do anything different. He is a liberal democrat.
Or maybe not vote for trash candidates. People in San Fran did this to themselves.

Yeah, that movie called "Boyz n the Hood" about gun and gang violence that takes place in SF... was a great one. Oh wait... that was LA. "Falling Down," another one, I believe that one was... LA too... ouch, not good. Snoop Dogg the LA legend was also a Crip member. SF once had the notorious gang member Robin Williams. This is a very close call... but I think LA wins the ghetto contest, sorry.
Let’s be honest, Ohtani never wanted to actually go to SF. C’mon. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Well lets face it, LA is not exactly great, but he has lived there for a while and San fran would be a downgrade somehow.

San Fran is still dog shit as a city.
It's a West Coast thing. Add Seattle and Portland to the roster of cities with similar street issues.
I live in Vegas. I go to California for sporting events and concerts that aren't coming here. I spent a collective 6 years living between San Diego and san francisco from '08-'14 and that state has gone completely to shit. They need the governator back.
maybe just stick to baseball bro
This video is literally about baseball, buddy
Does SF have problems? Yes, every large city does(including LA). Is that they why they lost out on Ohtani? No. From my understanding, the Giants offered Ohtani the same deal the Dodgers did. He took the Dodgers offer because he genuinely likes So Cal a lot. Nothing more or less.
And LA stadium has more history.
@@tcbobb1613 That is a function of Dodger Stadium being older. Its also one of the few stadiums that isn't named after a corporation.

@@foramoreperfectamerica8490 Did you know the first MLB game I ever went to was to The Stadium At Chavez Ravine (its name then) to watch the California Angels play the Cleveland Indians with Bo Belinsky pitching the only game they won in a 3 game series. Angels played there through 1965 then the Big A was finished in 1966. I watched Sandy Koufax pitch and strikeout Henry Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves. I had season tickets in 1988 including postseason first come privileges. It was Dodger Stadium when Kirk Gibson hit that dream homerun that was a game winner in game one of a five game WS with the once great Oakland A's.
The following year of 1989 people were taking souvenir pieces of concrete from an earthquake rattled Candlestick Park home. While Oakland players had to drive around the Bay to get home to Oakland through San Jose. While in Oakland the double decker Nimitz Freeway had collapsed while the upstanding citizens of Oakland swarmed onto the freeway to help themselves...........
National media kept it off the air, but local media reported that they took whatever they could. Although to some people's credit they tried to help those who were hurt. I'd hate to see the aftermath carnage that would ensue nowadays.

I’m so sick of this narrative around the mlb about SF being a dump! As a Giants fan in SoCal that goes up to SF very often because the Giants/friends/I love the city with all my heart, I’m getting so annoyed by this. Are we forgetting that skid row is legit 10 mins away from dodger stadium? Tent city’s all over LA, tent city legit a block away from petco, and bums all around Angel Stadium ( I know because I live in the same parking lot as Angel Stadium and hear and see bums all times of the day) Shit needs to stop. Every major city has its problems and as I am mad at Farhan for doing nothing we gotta keep the city itself out of it because it’s just straight horeshit. Sorry, rant over.
Otani went with a team that has a track record of winning their division.
Toronto, San Francisco & Los Angeles made about same contract offers. Does that mean Toronto is not a safe city? I have lived in San Francisco for over 30 years and I feel safe and I don't have any plans to move. San Francisco has the same problems as many other large cities across the United States.
I think italk Studios has an agenda and it might be more than baseball.
Bro, LA is on its way. We are a step away from turning into SF.
No, only downtown/south la/east la, all of the hills and the San Fernando valley are beautiful
LA has its problems but it will be fine since it’s not as small as SF
This is a stupid narrative, San Francisco had and have many stars in sports including the star studded Warriors, and the 49ers are stack. The Giants last couple of years of not landing free agents has nothing to do with SF. LA and NY have very similar problems and neither have any of these cities seen issues landing stars.
Well the NIMBYs who oppose new housing and anything that helps people who don’t own properties aren’t helping anything.

Can we be really honest here. Does anyone really think LA doesn’t have a homeless issue? Does anyone really think that LA is a bastion of safety? Does anyone really think LA doesn’t have a drug problem? I was recently in LA, and I can report it’s filthy. Sure SF is dealing with similar issues but LA is about 4x the size SF with 4x the filth. Ohtani didn’t pass on the Giants because it was too unsafe for him, that’s bullshit. Ohtani signed with LA because they unlike the Giants currently have a winning culture. That’s it. If you drop it in lukewarm water, then slowly turn up the heat, the frog isn't aware of how dire it's surroundings are getting until it's too late. This is now the case for all of California.
