One more tip for QLD globe. Click:
layers > Add layers > Elevation > Hillshade traditional
Then you can zoom in and find every drain that won't even show on aerial imagery.
You can also make an account in qld globe and save your maps in your phones cache for offline use. Better than screenshots because you can use the gps to pinpoint the points of interest.

I did not know that one chats , thanks . I've been using Qld Globe for a few years but I find it slow to load , whereas google maps and Google Earth is quite fast . 4g internet .

I'm 51, been crabbing all me life. Best tip. There is only 1 thing worse than having your pot poached and crabs taken AND THATS, NOT KNOWING IF YOU HAVE BEEN POACHED. So, I always cable tie my pots shut, usually in both the center of the round pots like in this vid and also the hook that usually hooks onto the ring frame. I want to know more than anything if I have been poached, BECAUSE, then I can look at all the other variables to try and figure out why no crabs ? Was it the spot, the tides, the moon, the tide size, etc etc etc. ALSO cable tying will cause some thieves to just drop the pot, WHY, well maybe don't have a knife handy, maybe the small amount of time to cut the ties may put someone off etc etc so in some cases it can stop thieves. If you don't cable tie and you get a blank, you have no idea if you have been robbed or not, so have no chance to know if the spot was any good.
I did do that but found that they don't give a s--- and just run a knife through the mesh. I gave up and would rather lose a crab than the cost of a new pot. I just spent probably $70 on a cam camera and after you catch the first and let it be known there are cameras around it's pretty good.

Plate idea is good as I do something very similar I use the plastic coated gutter guard to close it. As I have seen to many crabs sitting on outside of pot getting free feed close it up make them come inside

We call the cylinder pots ‘Gully Pots’. Once in the water with each funnel facing the current directions, you lift the pot up and then dropping it until it rolls/sits in the lowest area. The gully. I use 9 strand paracord, it sinks to 🍺🍺
If a plastic plate is too expensive, use a Frisbee. They are free when the neighbourhood kids throw them in your yard 🤣
And perfect size 🤣

@@SkidPig grew up with mangroves out the front and would go crabbing with mates all the time. Everytime you don't have a castnet...fish appear you've never seen before. Then when you have a cast net...you end up throwing pot shots...just throw and hope for the best 🤣🤣
