Love this analysis. So many critics and historians criticized the movie when it came out as being historically inaccurate, totally missing the point and it's only recently that people have come around to realize it is actually very accurate when you pay attention the framing device...It's a story being told by one of the survivors to rally the troops against the invading enemy and is told in a very Greek way. In fact the Greeks would have portrayed the soldiers as nude in art, but thankfully they at least got speedos lol. There's a great interview with Snyder on Joe Rogan's podcast where he talks about how he achieved some of the visual elements that I definitely recommend.
Totally! Crazy how many people just didn't get the point. It's a very human behavior, to sort of exaggerate or misinterpret a story that happened years ago; let alone thousands. I checked out that interview on Rogan, it was awesome. It was interesting to hear how there was some borderline homosexuality amongst the spartans.
