I’m glad I dropped the game weeks ago, the writing was on the wall and knew eventually they were gonna bend the knee, considering there moderators and them banning anyone who even slightly disagreed in the discord.
I haven’t played it since the whole Sony sign in thing. Just felt like they squashed any and all reason to keep playing if the pc players are abandoning it
Though to be fair, not sure if the community side has any ties at all to arrowhead or the devs themselves. The game itself is so far untouched, and that the one community manager that got yeeted out was the one that caused issues for Sony by egging players to reviewbomb harder tells me that Sony may be the one deciding who manages the community side way more than Arrowhead (who may not be allowed to say or do anything about it)
Time will tell if the two are really that separate, but yeah corporate overreach from Soyny may be at play

I think the moderator did a fantastic job handling the situation. You misrepresented their statement and I found that very distasteful. I don't doubt there are some real psychos in there, but that specific example was perfectly appropriate and professional.

The Helldivers devs should have fired their community managers and mods a long time ago. Oh well. The game died when Sony banned 170+ countries from playing it, even if they'd already paid for it, and could play it before hand.
I don't really understand. Maybe I've missed some crap that has happened outside of the game, but in the game there is no mention of sex, race, etc. One would think that would help avoid all of the usual nonsense but I guess not..
A lot of media needs to realise that they're content is watched for escapism. Whether that's gaming, films, comics, sports, table top gaming, collecting stamps etc. People use these past times to escape the usual politics of life, plus many of these things in life. You turn off, engage in that hobby or interest and something that's not work, politics or day to day life.
Helldivers 2 is failing for a lot of reasons and I don't think it's discord server is the reason honestly. If you play the game, and ignore the discord drama... you'd never even know what was happening. They can do whatever they want on their discord, but most game companies should know... or at least they did when I use to work at one... that the forums/chat are 10% of your most vocal customers. The rest are playing the game and don't care. Doesn't mean ignore forum/chat, just don't put all your eggs in that basket and I don't think Helldivers 2 is doing that.
But... they did mess up... bad.. in a lot of other areas... and like you, I and most other people I use to play with have just moved on to other games and when we are trying to decide what to spend our hour or so of free time on? It's on the new game we went to.
Agreed. I doubt most people who play know anything about these weirdos on the discord chat. I'm a member there and I just ignore it. It's overwhelmingly useless anyway. HD2 is doing what all popular games do in the beginning. It blows up and then settles down with a constant playerbase count for the life of the game. Its worse problems are: it's getting stale, too many software bugs and constant balancing issues. I've basically stopped playing after they released the mother-of-all-patches a few weeks ago. They made it so much worse. Like you said, I've moved on.
I completely agree with this. Who the hell cares what a mod team is saying in discord anyway. So far I haven’t seen any reason this game is woke when playing it myself and it’s a blast. However you guys are right, in other areas they haven’t done the best. Such as balancing and that whole PSN situation. I just think they mishandled a lot of stuff in the beginning and maybe just maybe things might get better later down the line.

I don't often get into fresh releases... I usually only buy games after a year of them behaving themselves. This is beginning to re-enforce that decision.

Dropped helldivers because death by a thousand cuts. The constant nerfs were already putting me off as it got more unfun with the weaker weapons making high level difficulty completely unfun, the psn made my decision more affirmed, and now these idiots are making me dead sure my decision was the right choice.

I no longer have any, and I mean any patience for woke games. If I see one that is confirmed woke (worked on by SBI for example) I ban the game, the dev and the publisher all at once, on my Steam account. Zero tolerance!

Man, Discord and it's affect on gaming has been pretty awful. Especially because of the moderators.
Can't wait for the inevitable unskippable cutscene before every match on bug sensitivity.
Those flaming shotguns tend to be real easy to do friendly fire. Lot can happen in a hectic battlefield 500k bombs and barrages can hit all kinds of things unintentionally. Pride flags or anything else from real life could be very distracting and accidentally draw fire
I been playing helldivers 2 for 2 months and love it. I am not in any discord or groups. I just jump on game. I dont see flags or anyone talks anf when we do talk it gets funny or we start saying how are good our team is lol. Its only way i can play games without stupid stuff. I get on mic to talk to my friends. So far in game there hasnt been any issue and last patch was amazing. If they start adding flags then i dip but now in game there nothing wrong. Till they affect in game people should just lessen their time on big company discord and forums. They just trying to get up yall skin.

I have had 4 games shape my life in various stages. SuperMario (3yrs-12yrs) Halo (12yrs-19yrs) Gears of War (19yrs-25yrs) i didnt start playing games again until 2020 (32yrs) then HD2 came out and that game is has all the good elements of other games which I love.
How to wreck a fun game and sour the experience enough to make people walk away.
-Unnecessary nerfs that remove fun (they even did it a couple weeks ago with the pummeler which is 0 fun now)
-No new strategems or ship upgrades in a WHILE
-Sony country ban....we made an awesome cape...where is it....pending?....nobody cares anymore its been too long
-Alexus if you know you know
-Releasing buggy af patches and "fixes"
-Bending the knee.
