Thank you very much for your kind compliment. But I actually think, that I did a very poor job on this model, because it was my first one. I also didn't make the rudder and elevator functional, because I had no suitable material to make the hinges. Have a nice weekend!
Very nice build there. I attempted building the earlier box art Guillows Bf109 kit back in 1997. When it came to applying the dope to the model, I carried out the job on the kitchen table in my little bedsit. An hour later I awoke from a lovely nap lying on the linoleum floor, heheh.
Hi World of Jerry Travis, thank you for your kind comment! But I have to commit, that I don't really understand, what has happened to you. Hopefully you not an accident, while you were applying dope to your model? I wish you all the very best!
For those, who might wonder, why I've put the Nazi swastika decals on my german Guillow's models. I did it, because I wanted to build models of existing aircrafts and the swastika on my models shows nothing else, than the historical truth.
I make all my hooked crosses go in the opposite direction. That way they look close to typical but are technically not correct. I've also seen it where a black diamond is in place of the hooked cross.
Hi Raymond Dimesa, in my opinion neither an original Ju 87 Stuka in a museum, nor a model of this airplane should be shown without the Nazi hook cross, because it would mean to me, that this ultimate Nazi terror weapon could be separated from the NAZI's ideology. But it can't! And as a model maker I simply might like one or the other airplane, tank, ship or what so ever, but I don't agree with the ideology of the Nazi's. I absolutely don't! I wish you the very best!
Hi Vapletrichs Gne, thank you for your nice comment! I'm a pretty poor model maker, but I like the Guillow's kits and I love beautiful fighter airplanes like the Spitfire Mk V or the Fw 190. I wish you the very best!
Hi Pascal, thank you for your kind komment :-) This was my first slide show. My later ones, like the Guillow's JUNKERS JU 87 RIJK STUKA, have better pictures and they show better ideas.
Super video. Absolutely great looking 109!!! Sorry, but I'm going to steal lots of tips from you here. You are clearly a very accomplished balsa model builder, and it shows. Thanks very much for uploading this.
Thank you very much for your compliments! I'm very glad, that you like my ideas. But my slideshow about the Guillow's JUNKERS JU 87 RIJK STUKA contains better ideas and I also tried to show more useful details.
Bleib gesund!
Hi Veecee27, I`m very happy, that you like my slideshows! This was my first one and therefore I wouldn`t recommend to try out all of my ideas, especially not the one, where I`ve put parts of the model on needles to dry them, like I did here at 5:00. I wish you all the very best!
What tape did you use for the paint job? I actually just started building a guillows 109, and used you video as a reference to the build process. You made the plane a lot simpler to build thx!
Hi Connor, I'm very glad, that you find my slideshow helpful. I used at first ordinary tape, but then discovered Tamiya masking tape. It's perfect and doesn't do any damage to the tissue. If you watch my other slideshows too, then you might get some more and hopefully helpful ideas, because the Bf 109 was my very first model. You should also know, that not every idea worked well and so I've tested other methods to build my models. I wish you a lot of joy with the building of your Guillow's model!
Hi Marcelo, I do have the 406 LC kit, but I haven't built the model yet. But I'm pretty sure, that you'll enjoy building it, because the laser cut makes it so much easier to build it. The building steps are more or less all the same throughout all the Guillows warbird models. And if you have watched all my slide shows, you might have developed already a plan in your head, which step you would do different, and which of my ideas might be useful for you. Anyway, I hope, that you will build your own model and therefore I wish you good success and joy with it.
I've used Graupner special modeling pins no. 717 (0,6 mm x 16 mm) They worked fine for me, but I think, that they're not thinner, than ordinary pins. I wish you a lot of fun with your B-24!
+Jeffrey Sutherland Thank you! I used Revell enamel colours, ordinary paint brushes and ordinary tape. Meanwhile I use Tamiya masking tape. It works much better. The decals are of course part of the kit, but I also made my own decals and adhered them with the white glue + water mixture.
Hi Daniel Rosales, your comment made me laugh, because I do agree with you, but I never thought, that viewers would enjoy the silence so much. I wish you all the very best!
Hello Andreas, one question : what is the goal of the candle during the covering phase please ? Thanks and congrats again . I look forward to see another guillows model.
Hi Pascal, I've rubbed some wax onto the plastic dish and it's lid, because I wanted to avoid that, the wet and with glue covered tissue of the model might stick to the plastic. I have some nice models from Dumas left to build, but at the moment I'm building the Micro Magic sailboat from Graupner. The slide show will be soon on RUclips. I wish you a very pleasant evening!
Hi Matt, in this slide show I've used a gluestick to cover the fuselage with tissue and a mixture of 5% glue and 95 % water to shrink the tissue. But then, I've tried a mixture of white glue and water in a ratio of 1:1 to cover the fuselage with tissue and in the second step, I've used a mixture of 5% glue and 95 % of water to shrink the tissue. This method worked better for me. My slide show about the Guillow's JUNKERS JU 87 RIJK STUKA is in my opinion a bit clearer. Have a nice day!
Hi Clément Talon, thank you very much for the nice compliment! I actually thought, that I had written in the slideshow, but somehow I forgot to do it. I think, it took me about 30 to 40 hours to build the model and to take the pictures. Just building the model will take you about two weeks, if you can find every day one or two hours to build the model. I wish you the very best!
@@andreasbuttner-land1890 Hey Andreas, well for 30~40hrs of work, the result looks incredibly good!! I recently got old plans of a 1/6 scale of that model but your video convinced me to give a try first to that one !! I wish you all the best as well!😁
Hi Вадим Гопенков , it would be easiest for you to search in your own country for a hobby store, that sells Guillow's models, but you can also buy a Guillow's model directly from Guillow's: www.guillow.com/messerschmittbf-109.aspx, like the the big laser cut version or the smaller version: www.guillow.com/messerschmittbf-109-2.aspx. I wish you all the best!
Thank you! Well, I used a mixture of white glue and water to shrink the tissue. But since I used for this model only the glue stick to cover the fuselage with tissue, the tissue detached partly from the fuselage and wrinkled up.
It shouldn't be too difficult to get your hands on a Guillow's kit. If you don't you have any local hobby store in range, try to find the nearest hobby store in the internet - or explain your diffuculties and I might be able to help you.
Well, I've tried to build a model, which would look similar to the original aircraft and I've also tried to find a simple way to balance the model, so that it would fly.
That could be the cleanest bare balsa fuselage I've ever scene. The fit of the tail assembly to the fuselage looked perfect. Congrats.
Thank you very much for your kind compliment. But I actually think, that I did a very poor job on this model, because it was my first one. I also didn't make the rudder and elevator functional, because I had no suitable material to make the hinges. Have a nice weekend!

Andreas Büttner-Land it’s called a swastika
It’s so sad that one even has to state such a disclaimer.
Andreas Büttner-Land don't change history, use the correct symbols

Hey there!
I was just wondering, But I saw you split the rudder and stabiliser, I’m guessing that you then used hinges? If not, what did you use?
That is a brilliant tutorial. Thank you!

Nicely done. Great attention to detail
Thank you very much!
+Andreas Büttner-Land what size motor and how long is it? I'm new at this and this is my first guillows build.
To power the model, I've used the rubber band, which comes with the kit. But I'd recommend to use special rubber bands, like other model-makers do.
What tape did you use for the paint job? I actually just started building a guillows 109, and used you video as a reference to the build process. You made the plane a lot simpler to build thx!

I'm wondering about those needles you're using? Because I'm building a Guillows B-24 and I'm looking for sone really thin needles.

then can ply???
+Teo Tran Van The big BF 109 does fly. I haven't tested yet the other models, but I'll make a test flight as soon as the grass has grown high.
