- Let her drink or use a pacifier during take off and landing to minimize the pressure changes in the ears. Ear plugs will only muffle the engine noise. - Also let her drink regularly. The cabin air is mostly low in humidity. - Because of the high altitude and reduced atmospheric pressure, oxygen intake is a bit more difficult. Keep an eye on her breathing and (lip) color during flight and the first days after if you know she has/might have respiratory problems. - Some companies offer a special kind of baby seat/basket. Inform yourself well in advance. - Make sure you have as much stuff as you can for taking care of the baby during flight. Organise your carry on in a convenient way. Some medicine is always handy but inform yourself on what's allowed. Also, take into account any delay and bring enough food for her. Air plane food is always spiced or salted above average because the reduced air pressure has an effect on our taste buds. - Bring something to keep her busy. She might get bored rather quick. - Air planes can get cold so bring enough blankets or warm clothing for her on board. Safe trip!
anything you need on the plane in ONE bag, try not to take too much cause lugging it around the airport is the worst part! expressed milk in a bottle was great to have on board just in case she wont feed....
If you can get on the plane first it helps. Ask them. They usually let you if you say you’re super nervous . So don’t be afraid to tell them you’re very nervous, and it’s your first time flying with the baby. That is huge to get on the plane first. Next. Bring anything soothing for the baby. If they let you bring the baby’s seat and put it in the chair next to you. Flip the seat like you do in the car if you can. And download on a tablet any movies or music the baby listens to or watches. That’s how I traveled alone with my baby. Good luck. Be safe
Mom of two here and I wanted to tell you that your doing great! Being a mom is stressful but being a first time mom is a different kind of stress. It’s okay to be stressed and overwhelmed, that’s all part of it and I know it’s a lot and even heavy at times but I truly say this with all honesty in my body… you really are doing amazing! I am praying for you to feel confident in this and praying for your transitions in life coming up. Hang in there, you’ve got this ❤
Motherhood can get really overwhelming at times Julia, but you are doing a great job mama 👍😁 Honor is beautiful, and she’s so lucky having a mom who can give her hand massages 😍😍 hope your trip is magical ❤❤❤
been watching for years and i’m so happy honor is healthy. you’ve inspired me to start my own channel and i’m sure many others 💓 i hope that you’re doing well and feel so much love as you’re going through new challenges behind the scenes.
Lots of solo flights here! ✈️ Feeding or pacifier on takeoff and landing off her ears. Choose and aisle seat! Lots of airlines will let you take a collapsible pram all the way to the boarding gate. That way you can have your arms/body free before holding bub for a long time. Take minimal bags/carry on. Just the basics for yourself and then a few extra sets of clothes and nappies for bub. Even a smaller zip bag with nappies/wipes and a change of clothes within your bag that is easy to grab so you’re not rummaging through on the plane. A big jumper to roll up and put under your arm to be comfortable when they sleep. A favourite toy, and then maybe something new for her. And embrace the screen time! Also my bubs have loved watching videos and looking at photos of family on my phone. They also love watching themselves. So filming little 10 minute videos of you guys and things she knows before you go can give you a trick up your sleeve! Goodluck!
After having two I can promise you as wonderful and beautiful it is to have a child.. it also requires you to give up a lot of yourself for the child. Just food for thought, if you where to decide to pursue that.
I don’t know what vocal fry is, but I have never noticed anything wrong with your voice. I love your voice in your vlogs and ASMR videos. It’s very relaxing! Do not be self conscious about your voice. No reason to be!!! ❤
For traveling - nurse, nurse, nurse, nurse & nurse haha.. especially takeoff and landing for her ears. The good news is, planes are loud and it helps lull them to sleep! Also, now that she’s six months, a new snack and a new toy are great options! We allowed my daughter to have yummy pouches for the trip and they were a HIT.
I traveled with my 7 month old solo to the west coast for two months then back solo when she was 9 months and I was SO SCARED!! but it went great, you guys will do great. Bring your carrier and strap her in and bounce in the aisle the whole time if you have to that's what I did ◡̈ people will be nice and give you the aisle seat probably. she will probably be soooo curious about everything going on around her since it will be so new that she will be entertained.
Always look forward to you posting videos. So I say try the whole daily vlog thing if you can 😊 and your daughter is adorable ! My daughter is 3 months behind yours, and it amazes me how fast she’s learning and doing things earlier than she should be as well.
When Nick brought you Honour saying she was hungry I was instantly defensive and wondering why he couldn’t feed her himself! And then I realised you are breast feeding 😂

The more stressed out you are, the more stressed out your baby will be. She can feel it, so try to be as prepared you can and then let the rest go and know that you won't be on the plane forever. Extra outfits for both you and baby on the plane (and a plastic baggy to put soiled cloths in) are always a good idea. Also I recommend letting her crawl and bounce as much as possible before hand to tire herself out so she has less energy on the plane. Oh and a binki or breast feed for take off and landing which can be scary and also it helps open her ears with the pressure changes. Good luck, you will be fine.
The most important thing when traveling is your own serenity and calm. That rubs off on your child. It looks like the teething is starting now. This is painful for the baby. It is whiny and sometimes there is fever and diarrhea. Stay relaxed even when it's tough. Rescue remedies help me without alcohol. Look on the internet. Maybe you can order them. Take fever suppositories and teething gel. It also helps chewing on hard bread and cucumber cools and vegetables what she likes. Otherwise play a lot and distraction. Have a nice flight and vacation 🥰 All the best 💕
nursing during take off and landing if you can. Pack yourself snacks like crazy because as parents we tend to our kiddo's needs before our own (per usual) and I would be starving. I packed books and little puzzles but after nursing she often slept great.
Lolololol the adorable baby has funny/great timing!!! She's a natural comedian! She made that precious baby noise, right when you said "everyone was all ewwwwwwwww laaaaaambbbbbbb". Yup. Everything is harder w a baby. Good thing you're not truly alone. Google ear tips for babies when flying. They helped me when I'd fly w my six month old, when I had just one baby. All i remember, is mainly for them to breast or bottlefeed on takeoff and landing. Buy new things to play w, stored in your carryon/purse. I actually think that the best tip is ypfor you~ nobody on the plane, except for an a$$hole, hears a crying baby. And if we do, most of us don't care and remember the cuteness of that time. Never let yourself feel badly over anyone who feels annoyed by their present circumstance on a plane w baby. You might feel like it's super loud, and a super big deal if your little ones cry, but don't! It's OK for babies to cry (especially at that age) on a plane, so never feel upset or anxious about it it's also OK to see if the flight attendant can hold the baby while using the rest room. Oh! Easy umbrella stroller for the airport... if it gets lost, no biggie, and you need one.👍👍👍
Julia, keep as much of your life to yourselves as you like, that's totally understandable. Do whatever videos you are able to do, that's great. Best wishes on your travel. Remember, parents do it all the time, you will do well. Ask your doctor about the babies ears while flying, sometimes when there's a baby crying all through the flight it's because their ears are hurting from the pressure. I myself have to wear special ear plugs while flying so that my ears wont hurt. They are available at any drug store. I believe there are child sizes too. God bless!
Hi! Only flew once but here's just a few. Lots of variety of snacks, pineapple core is a good one for teething age(less juicy, sensory, and bromine helps with sleep).
I breast fed my son and I miss those days of him being so little! Cherish those days because kids grow up so quickly!😅 ❤BTW Baby Honor literally stole her dads face!😍💖
Julia, feeling self conscious isn’t easy to overcome but I love your voice and the way you pronounce words! I find lots of voices irritating or boring, you’re one of very few RUclipsrs that I watch videos of till the very end. Looking forward to the vlogs, take care ❤
Oh my gosh, do not be self conscious about your vocal fry. My 2 cents is that a lot of the criticism of this sound is anti-feminist since it's predominantly women whose voices express it (and there was a time when everyone seemed to dump on the valley girl stereotype). You have a very soothing voice, a beautiful tone, and the vocal fry adds a wonderful texture. Talk the way it comes naturally, fry or not. Just honestly forget about it. Ok, for traveling... my boy is now 18, but from what I remember traveling with him as an infant and child.... yeah, I tried to take his favorite stuffed animal, some books or games, but really, mostly your boob and your patience is what will soothe her the most. Or you'll luck out and find out your kid travels brilliantly. Plus now the tv built into the seat in front of you will have cartoons and games for kids, she might not be old enough to appreciate it, but you can check out what they offer.
When you said: You want a little massage?, I was like: Oh my God, do a baby ASMR massage 😂 Anyway, sending you lots of love, straight and health on your way 💜💜💜
Our First Born went whitout illnesses until 10months. Our second was sick with a cold at day 5. It was horrible. Then 2weeks later She got another. Then another. Then laringytis.. she's fine😵💫
Enjoy her while she's small because it's like you turn around and there is a full-blown kid running around. You started wondering where the time went. 😆
Bring pacifier or a bottle to drink for descending. Her ears will pop and she will just cry. Anything for her to suck on will help that. A very small stroller that’s light. Books to keep her occupied or anything she loves to play with. Kids can get annoyed being seated for a while even while in your lap. Little things for her to munch on change of clothes and bags to put a poop diaper in in case she has to go. Your voice is fine and normal I’ve never said hmmm she sounds weird or says things weird.
Oh for goodness sake are we picking people's voices apart now? I've always thought you had a sexy voice that perfectly suits you! On a different note, Honor is literally a perfect blend of both you and Nick lol. I can very easily see both of you in her.
It's all good! I know it feels extremely chaotic to be in your shoes right now but you are DOING IT! That's it! You got this! 🥰I hope you guys recover soon, it's so SO tough when everybody is sick. We are all sick too 😬 Good luck on the flight! As for suggestions, probably giving the baby whatever they need in the moment without any gilt. If you gotta go walk around to help her stop crying then do that. No eye contact with people you KNOW will not understand and lots of eye contact with people that seem kind and get how hard traveling is, they will shower you with smiles. Also every time we go on a flight I try to find other families with kids during boarding and if Mila likes them I often ask to sit closer to them, switch seats if someone agrees (doesn't hurt to ask) or go for "visits" during the flight, other parents will be happy to have company too!
Yes I love the daily vlog idea!! Thank you for all you create and share with us. Love seeing your strength through all the challenges of navigating parenthood
You’re such a sweet mom. Traveled solo with my 7month old from London to Chicago and here are a few tips: - download an audiobook and pop her in the carrier. Walk her up and down the aisle and ignore anyone who gives you dirty looks! - if you’re in premium economy or above, put a blanket down on the floor by your feet and let her play with toys - get a travel blackout blind and see how you can set it up once she’s asleep in the travel bassinet - nurse, nurse, nurse if you can. I had to bottle feed - remember it will end. It’s a few hours and it’s hard but very temporary. Breeeeeathe
I love traveling with my daughter! Started when she was young. For a breastfeeding mama, nurse taking off and landing. It helps her ears so she doesn’t get uncomfortable. Bring tactile/sensory toys for her ie busy books, blankets, etc. Au had infant noise cancelling ear phones and we should tolerate them, they helped. You’ll do great! ❤ Sending lots of love to you, Nick and Honor!❤❤❤
Nurse her during take off and landing. It will help her ears not to pop. Also when I flew with my son at 5 months I just held him and nursed him the entire flight from ok to nc. He did perfect.
julia - i would watch anything no matter how short/long you come out with! i love watching your life and as someone who’s just embarked on her early 20s, it makes me so hopeful for the future! 💗
Travel tips for baby: 1) Leave yourself WAY more time @ the airport than you think you're gonna need. 2) Try to nurse during takeoff & landing, to reduce likelihood of ear discomfort in your baby. 3) Screw fashion- dress you & baby as comfortably as possible. You got this, Mama! 💪💕
You’re such a wonderful mother!! Being a mother is the hardest, yet most rewarding job you’ll ever have and you are mastering it!! I hope Nick feels better soon❤

She is growing too fast!
I stumbled across an old video and I’m curious how Brandon is doing…
Honor is SO. FRICKIN. CUTE🥹🥹🥹😩😩😩😭😭😭🥰
It's all good! I know it feels extremely chaotic to be in your shoes right now but you are DOING IT! That's it! You got this! 🥰I hope you guys recover soon, it's so SO tough when everybody is sick. We are all sick too 😬
Good luck on the flight!
Aw this is so sweet❤
Hi Julia! You’re doing a great job momma. Love watching you and Nick as parents considering I’ve followed you since way way back. Sending you love. 🤍
Missed you mama blitz!
Honor is so beautiful! Motherhood looks great on you Julia! I’ve been watching you since 2019 and it’s nice to see how far you’ve come.
Yes I love the daily vlog idea!! Thank you for all you create and share with us. Love seeing your strength through all the challenges of navigating parenthood
You’re such a sweet mom. Traveled solo with my 7month old from London to Chicago and here are a few tips:
- download an audiobook and pop her in the carrier. Walk her up and down the aisle and ignore anyone who gives you dirty looks!
- if you’re in premium economy or above, put a blanket down on the floor by your feet and let her play with toys
- get a travel blackout blind and see how you can set it up once she’s asleep in the travel bassinet
- nurse, nurse, nurse if you can. I had to bottle feed
- remember it will end.
Sending lots of love to you, Nick and Honor!❤❤❤
Mom of 4 here, just wanted you to hear that you're doing such a great job!!
Nurse her during take off and landing. It will help her ears not to pop. Also when I flew with my son at 5 months I just held him and nursed him the entire flight from ok to nc. He did perfect.
Hope that nick get better soon 😮 sending love form north africa ❤
julia - i would watch anything no matter how short/long you come out with! i love watching your life and as someone who’s just embarked on her early 20s, it makes me so hopeful for the future!
I find your voice incredible pleasing and soothing to listen to!
OMG! Honor is so precious 😩 sweetness overload!!! and you are a fantastic mother!
