Porn is the definition of mental slavery. When your mind says it's time to view porn it's like you don't have control of your body. I remember being halfway to sleep and getting an urge so strong that it felt like an outer body experience. It felt like something or someone had control of my body but that it how bad this addiction can get. Porn is something I still struggle with but I know God has been working overtime on me. Everyday without porn is so amazing. The cause and the condition of it is almost always stemming from pain and rejection, but the root at it's source is always demonic. Satan goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. Pain and rejection that lead to sexual perversion, abuse or promiscuity always cause destruction to people in it and those around them, from family to marriages. Often times people find themselves in these types of circumstances because they have encountered some form of sexual abuse or rejection in their life at one point in time that the devil has constantly been using to keep them oppressed, feeling condemned and unworthy of anything good or God's love. It's a demonic trap and strategyto keep us from becoming all that God has placed us here to be. If I'm lying look at what is universally practiced throughout the world and promoted to get people in bondage. It's SEX. I had an addiction to porn and masterbation but am happy to say that Jesus has delivered me! It’s been two years and I haven’t watched or seeked out that type of sexual release and validation when I use to not be able to go a single day without it. I confessed for the first time today. I told my pastor and my family. I had someone put parental controls on my phone and block the sites. Have you received the message of God who is calling all people to repent? That is the way to be forgiven for sins we have committed up to that point of turning to God and turning the page from the way we had lived until then. And you will have the same attitude about any sinful action. Confession: I hope someone really takes time to read this. I’m just a 14 year old girl. I feel into the pornography addiction when I was small and suffered until around 12. I confessed it with my parents but it took me a while. I stopped for a few years and I was so happy. I fell again and it hurts so much. It’s hard for me to not cry. I don’t wanna tell my parents because I’m to scared. I talked about it with my friend and texted it to her about. But I just keep falling into it after these thoughts just keep bothering me. As a young person, this message was very much needed. I’ve been struggling with mastubation for years since I was introduced to it at such a young age. It wasn’t until this year with covid and quarantine I truly desired to want to live for Christ, even though i’ve been raised and brought up in the Church. Let's get to the bottom of what repentance is about. Luke 5:31-32 31 And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." Repentance along with faith (Acts 20:20-21) is the way to be healed / saved / delivered / set free from sin (John 8:36). The key is submission / obedience to God (Hebrews 5:9, Acts 5:32). If you do not have a deep sense of that happening in your life, repentance is what you need to look into, just like it is taught in the Bible. It is necessary. James 1:21-22 21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls [that's repentance]. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith, which implies obedience], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. Wow this triggered a lot of me. I remember the battle of porn/perversion in my life. I was so ashamed to tell anyone the thoughts and fantasies that ran through my mind until I actually started reading sexual stories, looked at pictures, and then started watching porn. Everyone mostly saw me as a good Christian girl, but I was such a hypocrite. I remember being a slave to something that I knew was draining me. There was just one day where I couldn't keep sinning in this area of my life. I ended up confessing it out to 2 women ministry related and finally that Spirit was casted out of me. Sometimes the temptation to let my mind run rampant comes and goes but it'll never be enough to lock me back in the cage of shame and filth. Glory to God for this message. I praise God that He saved me from going to far into perversion because I came pretty dang close to opening that door forever in my life.

I’m not even an hour into this message but I just have to say THANK YOU for not turning this into just a man’s issue. Just because the statistics are higher for men, doesn’t mean that women don’t struggle with porn as well. I’ll be honest, I’ve been in that entanglement too. It is so isolating, and infuriating, to hear sermons or read articles that are just geared toward men struggling with/quitting porn as if it affects only them. Messages like that in the past have made me feel so alone in this, that I am somehow even more broken or defective because I’m a woman who has struggled with it too. I have been addicted to porn for easily 25 years and have been a believer for roughly 7 years now, but have never known actual freedom from this horrible addiction. Hey bro all you need is the Word of God and the Holy Spirt to help you stay strong and accountable. Jesus said he will never leave or forsake you. If you try to depend on people to help you stay focused even if they're good solid believer's, what will you do if they stumble or aren't available? Nothing wrong with having godly relationships but don't put expectations on people that only the Holy Spirit can provide. God answers prayers! A couple days after praying for a Christian brother, God brought an old friend back to mind. We reconnected and I shared my struggles and I have been clean for 1 week! Also I understand that in the end it is my choice to fall into sin so I have been putting up safeguards. I am on a movie, tv, and music fast for the foreseeable future. You got it backwards this isn't something you fight yet...you actually need to die first. John 1 describes how God gives us the ability to become children of God, but Paul describes in Ephesians 2 that by nature we are children of wrath. The amount of women I see in the comments section lifts a weight off of me, porn is rarely mentioned as something that women struggle with too and most of the articles and videos i've seen are so directed towards men, it makes me feel like i'm sinking. The struggle itself is hard enough but on top of that it feels doubly shameful to be a girl and have almost every single person reference it as a "guy struggle." coming back to this after 2 years, God did something really amazing. i had excused my pornography addiction for so long, my heart was calloused and i was even identifying with the awful things i would watch, i thought it was okay to be a christian into bdsm, one of the worst perversions of God's holy creation of sex. 2 of the points discussed that i had never really thought about before were 1) confession. admitting that i had a pornography addiction sounded completely out of the question, most people are used to the idea of drug addiction but not porn addiction, i thought that it would make me look like a psycho or something, but i was now made aware of my need for freedom. my sister was in the room i believe after watching this so i decided to tell her, low and behold it was awkward, but the step of making it aware helped me to see just how distorted my mind had gotten, porn is NOT natural and even though it was uncomfortable, i was glad to finally address it. 2) provision. he was right that we make easy access for things like this. i made an email account, twitter accounts, a word document w/ links all to find what i wanted when i wanted to. i deleted ALL of these- one of them i'd had since the 5th grade! (i'm 22) i used to be involved in many fan communities (art, anime, kpop, etc) making the sin of idolizing these even; it's almost impossible not to be further exposed to sexual content here. for some reason it was emotional? my flesh wanted to hold onto these things so bad, videos i'd saved, stories, etc. but God led me to do it, it had to be done, that part of me died that day. i think that was my first time making a step in the direction of repentance, something was different. God went on to save my soul the next month i believe. you guys, my life has never been the same. not only am i a new believer in Christ, but i have not watched porn in almost 2 years!!!!! this is only by the power and grace of God. freedom IS possible, it was in this time i'd also discovered i was a lukewarm christian, God just revealed so many things i could go on forever, but i just wanted to tell everyone here that there is hope in Jesus Christ. i never imagined i'd have a testimony about this, but i do. real, tangible, freedom, victory over shame & guilt all when we repent, give up our lives completely and turn to Him!! God wants to save our souls, we have to let them go, turn it over to Him, entrust Him with your life- trust me He can handle it. i have never felt freedom like this, not just from porn but from my spiritually dead state. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved. Porn is the definition of mental slavery. When your mind says it's time to view porn it's like you don't have control of your body. I remember being halfway to sleep and getting an urge so strong that it felt like an outer body experience. The cause and the condition of it is almost always stemming from pain and rejection, but the root at it's source is always demonic. Satan goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. Pain and rejection that lead to sexual perversion, abuse or promiscuity always cause destruction to people in it and those around them, from family to marriages. Often times people find themselves in these types of circumstances because they have encountered some form of sexual abuse or rejection in their life at one point in time that the devil has constantly been using to keep them oppressed, feeling condemned and unworthy of anything good or God's love. It's a demonic trap and strategyto keep us from becoming all that God has placed us here to be. If I'm lying look at what is universally practiced throughout the world and promoted to get people in bondage. It's SEX. From child trafficking to tv, social media, movies, music, entertainment and the list goes on. Sex runs the world and the devil is using it to disqualify many, many people from their high calling in Christ.

Take some time to understand well the way you need to approach God. Your obedience to God out of love for God (John 14:15) is the key to your deliverance from any sin that you are bound in (Hebrews 5:9).
We need to learn from Jesus and follow his example (1 Peter 2:21-24). That will not lead us to sin but to break free from sin and also not return to it (John 8:31-36, 1 John 3:6).

Have you received the message of God who is calling all people to repent? That is the way to be forgiven for sins we have committed up to that point of turning to God and turning the page from the way we had lived until then. That opens the door to receiving God's healing and the gift of *a new life* that we will live for God and no longer for sin/addictions and the passing things of the world (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15). It all begins with repentance and faith in Jesus, which means obedience to his word.
You need to have the word of God in your heart to live for Him and walk in his ways. So, if you are willing to follow God's ways, you need to take guidance from the scriptures:

And you will have the same attitude about any sinful action. You will be careful to always be in agreement with God about what's good that you should pursue and what is evil that you should turn away from.

I’m just a 14 year old girl. I feel into the pornography addiction when I was small and suffered until around 12. I confessed it with my parents but it took me a while. I stopped for a few years and I was so happy. I fell again and it hurts so much. It’s hard for me to not cry. I don’t wanna tell my parents because I’m to scared. I talked about it with my friend and texted it to her about. But I just keep falling into it after these thoughts just keep bothering me. I am depressed and I don’t like being like this. This hurts so much. I feel so ashamed and just want to be saved. I don’t know if this counts on cofessing but I just really need you to pray for me and I can pray for whoever is suffering with pornography addiction. My family is suffering so much. I wish someone had shared this with me, make sure you understand and experience what it means to be "born again". Last summer I saw a video that changed my life...seriously. Ordinary people doing amazing things that I couldn't explain. I went to church until I was 17, but I didn't know if God was real. I stopped going when college/work started, I was more interested in living life and having fun. I still called myself a "Christian" but my life didn't look much different than my friends that weren't believers, and I still struggled with sin. But the people in the videos I saw were different, they were true men/women of God living holy lives and walking in power.

Are we willing to make things right with God, be born again and follow Jesus, or will we continue living in sin, our own will and live a self focused life. One of these lead to death and the other leads to eternal life, it's up to us to choose if we will accept Jesus or deny Him. Jesus said in John 3 unless you are born again you cannot enter Heaven.

God wants to restore the relationship with us that was broken due to sin because He loves us. But God is also a good judge and can't let sin go unpunished. The only way He can do both is if...someone pays the fine. If you're in court and someone pays the fine the judge can let you go. So God became a man(Jesus) 2000 years ago and paid the fine for our sins. Jesus' last words were "it is finished" meaning the fine has been paid, that's what happened on the cross. God can now legally dismiss our case, commute our death sentence and we can live forever with Him in Heaven!

Let's get to the bottom of what repentance is about.
Luke 5:31-32
31 And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance."
Repentance along with faith (Acts 20:20-21) is the way to be healed / saved / delivered / set free from sin (John 8:36). The key is submission / obedience to God (Hebrews 5:9, Acts 5:32).
If you do not have a deep sense of that happening in your life, repentance is what you need to look into, just like it is taught in the Bible. It is necessary.
James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls [that's repentance]. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith, which implies obedience], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Ordinary people doing amazing things that I couldn't explain. I went to church until I was 17, but I didn't know if God was real. I stopped going when college/work started, I was more interested in living life and having fun. I still called myself a "Christian" but my life didn't look much different than my friends that weren't believers, and I still struggled with sin. But the people in the videos I saw were different, they were true men/women of God living holy lives and walking in power.

Doing my confession here: I'm a 22 year old girl (tiffany is my name). I have struggled with watching porn and masterbating on and off for quite a few years. That i even lusted over guys that i find attractive and even wanted to be with women. It all started with a girl older than me who kissed me and it moved on to me kissing my girl cousins when i was around may 14 or so.

Wow this triggered a lot of me. I remember the battle of porn/perversion in my life. I was so ashamed to tell anyone the thoughts and fantasies that ran through my mind until I actually started reading sexual stories, looked at pictures, and then started watching porn. Everyone mostly saw me as a good Christian girl, but I was such a hypocrite. I remember being a slave to something that I knew was draining me. There was just one day where I couldn't keep sinning in this area of my life. I ended up confessing it out to 2 women ministry related and finally that Spirit was casted out of me. Sometimes the temptation to let my mind run rampant comes and goes but it'll never be enough to lock me back in the cage of shame and filth. Glory to God for this message. I praise God that He saved me from going to far into perversion because I came pretty dang close to opening that door forever in my life.

Just because the statistics are higher for men, doesn’t mean that women don’t struggle with porn as well. I’ll be honest, I’ve been in that entanglement too. It is so isolating, and infuriating, to hear sermons or read articles that are just geared toward men struggling with/quitting porn as if it affects only them. Messages like that in the past have made me feel so alone in this, that I am somehow even more broken or defective because I’m a woman who has struggled with it too. And I've been imprisoned ever since, thank you for being so transparent in this sermon, it really set a fire in me that's pushing me to be better.

Being saved is not only forgiveness from sin but also freedom from sin. You got it backwards this isn't something you fight yet...you actually need to die first. You need to put to death the sinful nature you got from Adam/Eve by being "born again" (repent, baptized, receive Holy Spirit). Either you disobey Jesus and remain a slave to sin or you obey Jesus and experience freedom from sin - Jesus said you must be born again or you cannot enter Heaven. This is easier said than done, our human nature is to rebel against God and we don't want to humble ourselves or ask for forgiveness. Most people only come to God after living a life of sin and experience the weight/burden of sin and still feel the emptiness/loneliness. The sin that felt so good at the moment wears off, and many are left with no lasting peace/joy. Sometimes God will let you hit rock bottom or He will allow something to happen to wake you up.

I was in your shoes exactly 2 years ago, you're close to finding freedom trust me. I experienced what it means to be "born again" - repent, baptized, receive Holy Spirit... and it changed my life. We all came from Adam/Eve, and because they sinned it passed down to us. No one teaches a child to lie but we all do it, sin is in our nature. David writes in Psalms 51 about having a sinful nature from birth. Satan tricked Adam/Eve into sin and since then continues to enslave humans through sin. Paul describes in Romans 7 how he was a "slave to sin". He writes "For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do". Jesus also said whoever sins is a slave to sin. Many people deal with addiction(porn/drugs) and know what it feels like to be a slave to the addiction. Paul later describes in Galatians 5 how the flesh and spirit are opposed to one another, and that in each person there is a fight between the two until you are born again. Many people want to be free from their addictions, but there is also a part of them that doesn't. But the good news is that where Adam/Eve and every one of us have failed/sinned...Jesus did not.

Jesus overcame sin and came to show us "the way" for us to also experience freedom from sin. Jesus was the only person born of a virgin birth, He was not born from a seed of man but was conceived/born by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus was born as a descendant of Adam/Eve like us, He too would have been a slave to sin and that would have been bad news for us. Peter describes the corrupted seed of man in 1 Peter 1 and how we must be "born again" from incorruptible seed. Jesus said in John 3 unless you are born again(repent, baptized, receive Holy Spirit) you cannot enter Heaven. Jesus wasn't talking about reincarnation, but was talking about a supernatural experience where your sinful nature dies and you receive a new nature that is holy. John 1 describes how God gives us the ability to become children of God, but Paul describes in Ephesians 2 that by nature we are children of wrath. Jesus made a way for us to also have this supernatural experience, and find freedom from sin and live the new life God originally intended. His birth shows us that we too must be born again spiritually and become children of God. Repentance is the 1st step where you decide to turn from sin, you go the opposite way and start to follow Jesus. Jesus is asking you to consider what He is saying, and do things His way instead of what you want. You change how you feel about sin, from loving it to hating it. Until you hate your sin you will never be free from it. God gives people who repent a new heart and they feel remorse/guilt when they sin. But now you need to bury the dead body/flesh or else it will kill the new life. Many people stop here because they experience a new heart, but it gets heavy carrying the dead body and they continue life with this burden and often fall back into sin.

Paul shows us in Romans 6 how through baptism sin/addiction loses its grip, and that we can experience freedom. Baptism is a supernatural way for us to share in the death/burial of Jesus. Many people say they feel "light" after baptism, as if a weight had been lifted. That weight is the old man/sinful nature that gets "circumcised"/cut off through baptism. Baptism is also for the remission of sins, and many feel clean after baptism as if you were a newborn - hence the term "born again". When we go under water we "die with Christ" and our body/sins are buried/washed away. We can experience freedom from sin now, so we can live holy lives no longer slaves to sin. Paul writes about this in Romans 7 where he realizes there is freedom through death(baptism). Jesus said "You will know the truth, and the truth will set free you...So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

When you understand this truth and see how repentance/baptism/receiving Holy Spirit are all necessary for being born again, baptism no longer is just a tradition but becomes powerful/life changing. Many people don't understand what baptism is and just do it as tradition without repentance. No one can come to Jesus(Son) unless the Father draws them, and this begins when the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin. No one gets born again on their own desire/will, but only if God knows your ready to turn from sin and draws you. Baptism needs to be done on your own faith and repentance. When you come out of the water we "rise with Christ" and we receive the Holy Spirit. Just as we were able to share in Jesus' death/burial through baptism, by receiving the Holy Spirit we can share in the resurrection of Jesus. Just as you inherhit your parents genetics when you are born(physically), when you receive the Holy Spirit you inherit Gods character/nature and are born again(spiritually) to become His children. Paul describes this in Romans 8 where you are now no longer "walking in the flesh" but now "walking in the spirit". When we walk in the spirit we can experience the "fruits of the spirit" which are described in Galatians 5 as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Those who are living in addiction will never find lasting joy/peace no matter how much they try to find it...a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.

Anything else is spiritually dead religion with no power to overcome sin. From experience it's not something you even try to overcome, the desire to do these things just go. The amount of women I see in the comments section lifts a weight off of me, porn is rarely mentioned as something that women struggle with too and most of the articles and videos i've seen are so directed towards men, it makes me feel like i'm sinking. The struggle itself is hard enough but on top of that it feels doubly shameful to be a girl and have almost every single person reference it as a "guy struggle." Not only does that minimize the suffering of women who struggle with the shame and guilt of porn but it also makes it so much harder to reach out. I could only deduce that there was something especially wrong with me and it felt impossible to speak about it with anyone. coming back to this after 2 years, God did something really amazing. i had excused my pornography addiction for so long, my heart was calloused and i was even identifying with the awful things i would watch, i thought it was okay to be a christian into bdsm, one of the worst perversions of God's holy creation of sex. 2 of the points discussed that i had never really thought about before were
1) confession. admitting that i had a pornography addiction sounded completely out of the question, most people are used to the idea of drug addiction but not porn addiction, i thought that it would make me look like a psycho or something, but i was now made aware of my need for freedom. my sister was in the room i believe after watching this so i decided to tell her, low and behold it was awkward, but the step of making it aware helped me to see just how distorted my mind had gotten, porn is NOT natural and even though it was uncomfortable, i was glad to finally address it.
2) provision. he was right that we make easy access for things like this. i made an email account, twitter accounts, a word document w/ links all to find what i wanted when i wanted to. i deleted ALL of these- one of them i'd had since the 5th grade! (i'm 22) i used to be involved in many fan communities (art, anime, kpop, etc) making the sin of idolizing these even; it's almost impossible not to be further exposed to sexual content here. for some reason it was emotional? my flesh wanted to hold onto these things so bad, videos i'd saved, stories, etc. but God led me to do it, it had to be done, that part of me died that day.
i think that was my first time making a step in the direction of repentance, something was different. God went on to save my soul the next month i believe. you guys, my life has never been the same. not only am i a new believer in Christ, but i have not watched porn in almost 2 years!!!!! this is only by the power and grace of God. freedom IS possible, it was in this time i'd also discovered i was a lukewarm christian, God just revealed so many things i could go on forever, but i just wanted to tell everyone here that there is hope in Jesus Christ. i never imagined i'd have a testimony about this, but i do. real, tangible, freedom, victory over shame & guilt all when we repent, give up our lives completely and turn to Him!! God wants to save our souls, we have to let them go, turn it over to Him, entrust Him with your life- trust me He can handle it. i have never felt freedom like this, not just from porn but from my spiritually dead state.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.

The flesh is never satisfied, and only through Jesus will we win the war waging for our souls. For more than 10 years I’ve been in this battle with pornography, but since God saved me for the past 2 years I’ve been slowly improving. But I still stumble, and just knowing that Jesus is on our side gives me true hope.
Pornography is easily the single most destructive cause of spiritual downfall in this generation. Its even more dangerous now because of its accessibility. I pray that all it’s slaves be set free in Jesus’ name!

It takes a strong resolve and a commitment on your part to stop living for yourself and doing what pleases you to start living for God and doing what is pleasing to Him. That's the essence of repentance, the point where you "give your life to God" so to speak. [You give you life to God and don't take it back!]
It's when you are on the same page with God about any sin in your life that you know of that you will see his power at work to deliver you from the power of sin. And that will be a lasting victory for you (1 John 5:4).

We all came from Adam/Eve, and because they sinned it passed down to us. No one teaches a child to lie but we all do it, sin is in our nature. David writes in Psalms 51 about having a sinful nature from birth. Satan tricked Adam/Eve into sin and since then continues to enslave humans through sin. He is a cruel master and tempts people to do things that hurt ourselves and go against God. Paul describes in Romans 7 how he was a "slave to sin". He writes "For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do". Jesus also said whoever sins is a slave to sin. Many people deal with addiction(porn/drugs) and know what it feels like to be a slave to the addiction. Paul later describes in Galatians 5 how the flesh and spirit are opposed to one another, and that in each person there is a fight between the two. Many people want to be free from their addictions, but there is also a part of them that doesn't. But the good news is that where Adam/Eve and every one of us have failed/sinned...Jesus did not.

Jesus overcame sin and came to show us "the way" for us to also experience freedom from sin. Jesus was the only person born of a virgin birth, He was not born from a seed of man but was conceived/born by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus was born as a descendant of Adam/Eve like us, He too would have been a slave to sin and that would have been bad news for us. Peter describes the corrupted seed of man in 1 Peter 1 and how we must be "born again" from incorruptible seed. Jesus said in John 3 unless you are born again(repent, baptized, receive Holy Spirit) you cannot enter Heaven. Jesus wasn't talking about reincarnation, but was talking about a supernatural experience where your sinful nature dies and you receive a new nature that is holy. You turn from being born as a descendant of Adam/Eve, and inherit a new identity as a child of God. Many people think that we are Gods children by birth, but our sinful nature shows us this is not true. John 1 describes how God gives us the ability to become children of God, but Paul describes in Ephesians 2 that by nature we are children of wrath. Jesus even called people children of the devil in John 8.

Everything about Jesus' life(birth, death, resurrection) was supernatural. Jesus made a way for us to also have this supernatural experience, and find freedom from sin and live the new life God originally intended. His birth shows us that we too must be born again spiritually and become children of God. Jesus said that we must repent(turn from sin) and showed us how we must be born again by being baptized in water and receiving the Holy Spirit in Matthew 3. His death shows us that we need to die to the flesh/sin(repent) and be buried (baptism). His resurrection shows us we can be raised and empowered to live the new life(receive Holy Spirit).

Repentance is the 1st step where you decide to turn from sin, you go the opposite way and start to follow Jesus. Jesus is asking you to consider what He is saying, and do things His way instead of what you want. You say no to sin and deny your self/flesh, God sees that your ready and gives you a new heart and changes your desires. This person changes how they feel about sin, from loving it to hating it. Until you hate your sin you will never be free from it. God gives people who repent a new heart and they feel remorse/guilt when they sin. But now you need to bury the dead body/flesh or else it will kill the new life. Many people stop here because they experience a new heart, but it gets heavy carrying the dead body and they continue life with this burden and often fall back into sin.

Paul shows us in Romans 6 how through baptism sin/addiction loses its grip, and that we can experience freedom. Baptism is a supernatural way for us to share in the death/burial of Jesus. Many people say they feel "light" after baptism, almost as if a weight had been lifted. That weight is the old man/sinful nature that gets "circumcised"/cut off through baptism. Baptism is also for the remission of sins, and many feel clean after baptism almost as if you were a new born - hence the term "born again". When we go under water we "die with Christ" and our body/sins are buried/washed away. We can experience freedom from sin now, so we can live holy lives no longer slaves to sin. Paul writes about this in Romans 7 where he realizes there is freedom through death(baptism). Jesus said "You will know the truth, and the truth will set free you...So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

When you understand this truth and see how repentance/baptism/receiving Holy Spirit are all necessary for being born again, baptism no longer is just a tradition but becomes powerful/life changing. Many people don't understand what baptism is and just do it as tradition without repentance. No one can come to Jesus(Son) unless the Father draws them, and this begins when the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin. Only the Holy Spirit can convict people of sin that leads them to repent. No one gets born again on their own desire/will, but only if God knows your ready to turn from sin and draws you. Baptism needs to be done on your own faith and repentance. When you come out of the water we "rise with Christ" and we receive the Holy Spirit. Just as we were able to share in Jesus' death/burial through baptism, by receiving the Holy Spirit we can share in the resurrection of Jesus. Just as you inherhit your parents genetics when you are born(physically), when you receive the Holy Spirit you inherit Gods character/nature and are born again(spiritually) to become His children. Paul describes this in Romans 8 where you are now no longer "walking in the flesh" but now "walking in the spirit". When we walk in the spirit we can experience the "fruits of the spirit" which are described in Galatians 5 as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Those who are living in addiction will never find lasting joy/peace no matter how much they try to find it...a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.

This is not something you want to overcome by your own strength or will, the Holy Spirit can give you power and freedom from sin. Anything else is spiritually dead religion with no power to overcome sin. From experience it's not something you even try to overcome, the desire to do these things just go. This is what the Bible talks about when you become a new creation, the old has gone behold all things become new. God isn't going to let slaves of sin into Heaven, only His children.

But you must be ready to count the cost to follow Jesus, it will cost you everything. Are you ready to forsake this world and your life, turn from living in sin and the desires of your flesh? To give your life to God as a "living sacrifice" so that Gods spirit(Holy Spirit) may live within you to do the will of the Father instead of what you want? Just as Jesus was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the spirit, and lived not to be served but to serve...we too must walk as He walked and follow His example. Jesus said "you must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me."
