I absolutely adore this challenge! I can’t wait to see how this goes. Food scarcity is something I’m still learning about. Watching with an open heart.
One advantage to being in NYC is your ethnic grocery stores, they usually have better prices. Also, have you seen Delish's Budget Eats series? It might be helpful.
So awhile back I started a thing where I clean out my fridge/freezer and pantry at the end of the month every month. As I do it I make a mini inventory of the proteins, vegs and carbs etc before making my grocery list. Is it a bit time consuming? Yes. Does it save me money, food waste and are my fridge/freezer pantry more organized BIG YES> The first time I did it I realized I kept buying cans of beans, extra frozen chicken breast and a couple of other things when I could have saved money and space by eating through those first. I hope you feel better soon!
how are you now ? wanted to give you a information, if you have free access to internet and a laptop or smartphone, then start e comm, specially print on demand, its the best e comm business without any investment except the 1 dollar a month for 3 month in shopify and some subscription for etsy , printify will take its's charge once you sell a product like t-shirt , mug etc
I'm going to join in on this I think. Between people buying me food for my birthday, the holiday season, and moving (and needing to use up the stuff I have), it's a good month for it. I've shifted to a reduced-meat diet (as in eating lifestyle) recently and that helps a lot with saving money.
I have been really loving your content lately so much so I had my husband watch it too! The running video was so inspiring & this video is really showing my mental struggle around grocery shopping lately. ❤️ Btw hope your feeling better
I feel your pain of the $10 lettuce 😢 Excited to see how you can make this work and join in for the ~16 days I have of cooking for myself before I travel for the holidays!
I will be binge watching this series. Groceries are so expensive and I'm looking to save money too. I love aldis and was able to go to one the other day, but its 1.5 hours away. Sucks living in the country some times.
I'm in a bit of a better place now, but there was a year or so of my life that all my family could afford was cereal for breakfast (I'm allergic to eggs), oatmeal and a banana for lunch, and rice with a baked drumstick for dinner or sometimes cornbread and beans...Once in a while we could afford the really crappy high fat ground beef that you have to drain the heck out of. I began to crave fruits/veggies/yogurt like a kid craves candy, but we could only afford food that was going to fill up our bellies. Its really hard to prioritize healthy vs what isn't going to keep you hungry.
dont know how close you are to open caribeen or asian produce market as they tend to be more affordable than places like Ctown or Key foods (but their meats are good priced) . Also, really will have to cut back from lettice type foods and maybe go more for mustards/collardges/ only wants on sale. If its for greek vs plain yogurt, I see it as atlest both are more healthy options than cereal or chips. Realy, I don't go in with a set meal idea, I only buy whats on sale at that and create meals based on that
It is INSANE how much food costs! I have 3 kids and found out recently my oldest has celiac disease. Having to buy gluten free food has been 🤑 Such a great video concept!
look up "dining on a dime" on youtube. She eats gf/df and has a cookbook for it. If you watch her video on autoimmune disorders and what she's doing she gives you a coupon code for the cookbook digital download for free. Not paid to say that just like the cookbook :P
@@rosekang553 No, I would focus on things like beans/legumes. And then really prioritizing nuts, seeds, and veggies that have a higher protein content. In today's video I actually talk about that and have a graphic with lots of options!
Beggars cant be chosers yes we are on a Budget and yes we cant always afford what we want but we Stil Manage to buy healthy stuff i want yoghurt ? Usually greek yoghurt low fat options Costs around 1.19 Euro and has 200g in it instead if i cant afford it at the Moment i will Pick regular low fat yoghurt with 500g and only for 0.89 ct ( whixh will last for 2 to 3 days) yes its not that yummy but if i have to choose and i am low ok Cash inwill go for the runny low price Version caloric wise they are the same and i work like that with any food Option I buy one to two veggie mixes Mix it up witj some fresh ones and have a wonderful topping for my rice Wenn on a Budget canned and frozen food is your friend and if buying fresh veggies always trying to buy in a packed Version not always possible though But instead of buying one big tomato get a batch of small cherry tomatoes hold longer you can use them for diff recipes and eeeeeggs oats and milk gonna also follow you and keep the Hunger away :)
Not going to lie - I am irritated that after all the last few years of covid that you are not only GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE while sick but also filming yourself doing it.
Totally fair! I will say in my defense, I wore a mask and was in and out quickly. I also took multiple COVID tests over my time being sick to make sure I wasn't positive.

Thank you for being here :)
Digital coupons and following sales is what helps us.
100%! Definitely have a whole video planned talking about that :)

This video is so relatable as a college student.
Hoping to provide some tips over the next 23 days!
C Town is the worst and it’s the only option for lots of neighborhoods in NYC! I hope you feel better 🫶🏼
Ughhhh it's terrible! I should have done Key Food lol

I actually went to the store the other day for greens and left with none! All of them were expensive, really old or both!
Yes! I tried to get the loose ones (not bagged) and they were $5 a head and kind of old!
I’m going to attempt this challenge, just for myself, since my husband shuns all healthy food 🙄
Should be interesting.
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks Renee!
Shopping the sales helps, but you need to have access to several stores to really benefit from it.
Absolutely! I'm definitely lucky enough to live in a place with multiple stores in walking distance.

Finally turning the corner after a week of being sick :) thank you!
Such a great challenge! I recommend taking a look at Budget Eats series by Delish!
I gotta check them out!
The amount of food you got blew my mind, I swear my jaw dropped.
I was so pissed lol

It's insane how expensive America is. In India I spend around ₹4000 for a family of 3 which is $50

Oh I always thought cheese was more protein than fat… I eat a lot of cheese…
Definitely a fat with the added bonus of having. protein :)
@@JustinaErcole would you recommend using it as a major protein source since I'm vegetarian?

No freaking way, you can live off a $100 a month. 😮
I did it and many others do!
