Hi pearl!
Ohh yeah, it is pearl ! How's Steven ??
I think Spinel is pretty cool, sad that my diamond abandoned her :(
Please excuse my gross index finger 😭 It's still healing from the poison ivy I encountered over the summer...
Edit to add: Thanks for the interest in buying these, guys! Sadly, due to my hectic schedule, I no longer sell these online. They're only available at local reptile shows. That's why I made this video- so now you can make one of your own! ❤ Maybe we can sell them again in the future :)
Oh that sucks :/
Rest in peace finger
Hope you're finger feels better
Didnt notice any grossness dear
I thought it was just skin coming off
Edit: Maybe you can make some necklaces, bracelets,ECT with this on patreon, Twitter, ECT for some subscribers!
Edit two:for some reason I'm thinking of a app/game to where you can design your own necklace, bracelet,ECT with shed skin on the as the design of pendant :/
I love that you're teaching people how to make these and make the most of sheds from their snakes even tho you also sell them. We can tell it's not about the money with you, but about both your love for reptiles and your love for teaching the community. Awesome!

i think so, because in her tutorial on how to brumate snakes, she said afterwards in the mating season, she uses the snake sheds to help the males show breeding behaviour, because they think that the shed is another male

Thanks for this awesome tutorial! I finally gave this a go using a corn snake and ball python shed, and they turned out great! Some things I can suggest:
-use a scalpel to cut the shed (and possibly also the paper) to shape, it's easier to be more precise.
-you can paint the background paper with acrylic paints or iridescent nail polish or use a colourful cut-out from a magazine or something to create backgrounds that are shiny, have colour gradients or cool patterns.
Oh cool idea about the iridescent or metallic paint, I was thinking of seeing if this would work with thin jewelry foil.
Thanks for the tips!

I can’t wait to have my own reptile!! I think I’ll cry when I finally get one. I’ve only been a snake lover for 4 years after having a High school teacher who loved to catch wild snakes for lessons. He had caught a baby rat snake named Bubbles and it somehow ended up in the art room where I was. Despite my fear I held it and immediately fell in love. (I realize now that the snake likely shouldn’t have been taken around the school so much but kids were irresponsible when they kidnapped it from the teachers room.) since then I’ve been doing research on snakes, Beardie, and so much more! Hopefully I’ll be financially stable enough after college so that I can own one.
I love this! I hate the thought of when the time will come when Morticia isn't with us, but, this is a way to have her forever. Thank you for showing this crafty idea.

This looks like an amazing way of remembering our reptile pets. I recently lost my corn snake of around 14 years and just a couple weeks before she passed away she had shed and I kept it. Thought regarding the "trimming the skin/background to fit the cabochon" steps (and I don't have access to snake sheds, so this is totally hypothetical). Instead of using your fingers to hold the skin or background to the cabochon (which is hard to keep even), use the cabochon to hold the skin or background flat on a cutting surface and cut around it with a craft knife.

I’m ordering everything I need on amazon to make these! These are so cute and I’m going to have to steal my sisters shed to make her birthday present this month.
Imagine doing this with really fancy glittery/multicoloured paper, it could look like dragon scales!
Got all the stuff! Making bookmarks with my iguana's skin tonight!
Edit: A couple tips I found while making these...pick out larger scales vs small scales as they show the colored paper better. Also, rub a thin coat of the glaze on the skin before you cut it. It stiffens it a bit and makes it much easier to cut, otherwise it rips pretty easily! It also adds a nice shine to it before you put it in the cabochon! One more tip, my iguana's skin (other reptiles might be different) required a precision sharpie when marking on it, a pencil just wasn't working. Have fun to those who are trying this!
Im pleasantly surprised to find this comment, it's very helpful!
Wait...ik this is an old comment, but what did you mark on it?
Thank-you!!! How did you manage to let the glaze on the skin dry without gluing it to some surface? Or did you glaze a larger piece directly on the paper and then cut them as one entitly?
