I think you're absolutely spot on with the person in the room that thinks they're the best. European cultures generally don't enjoy that style of self-aggrandisement and tend to be much more self-critical. I don't know much about Asian cultures though. The thing for me as a Brit, is that reflecting on criticism and weaknesses is a way to improvement.
You saved me typing what I was thinking lol. Yes I get the impression they (some) Americans think they are the best - or greatest. I’ve known personally and on line many wonderful Americans. But some, if u try and have a discussion with them online in RUclips, it ~ sometimes ~ turns into an argument, not a discussion. Sadly a few remind me of the school bully. Some seem a tad more angry, always right, and anyone who disagrees with them is an idiot. Glad I know some wonderful Americans.
You can love your country and still see it's faults. You don't make your country better, without doing so. No country is perfect - but pretending the US is, means you don't even try to change. But that's what the people who the country is run for, want. That's why you have the education system you do.
It really annoys me when Americans give the excuse that they don't need to travel outside of the US because it's so big. It might be big but like you said Europe is the same size and we travel all over the world. Not just to the US but Australia, Thailand, Maldives, Mauritius, Africa etc. It's about experiencing different cultures. America doesn't have any history and I was so glad to move back to the UK after my second stint of 5 yrs of living in Southern California. I spent 5 yrs as a teenager then 5 yrs in my 40's. I have lived all over the world but would never mover back to the US. Also America definitely portrays itself to the rest of the world that everyone is wealthy. I saw so much poverty in the US, more than I'd ever seen anywhere. So much homlesnes, tent cities everywhere. I have my Green Card but will never move back again. I moved back to England mainly because of safety and health care and I really do appreciate being surround by history. On the topic of health care, I just had surgery last week and I can't imagine how much it would have cost me there. Americans really do believe they are better than anyone else and this whole freedom thing is crazy! We are more free in many ways. So glad you and other Americans are waking up and seeing that the US is not what you grew up thinking it was.You guys are brainwashed imo to believe you are perfect, the best and the most free!
Also they don't get much time to travel cos they hardly get any holidays. Only one or two weeks a year depending on what their boss gives them, then when they are ill they have to use their 'vacation days' so probably don't have much left over to have the time to go too far.
I was on vacation in GB and I met an US dude and he told me, who is from Sweden 🇸🇪 that in English it's pronounced Switzerland 🇨🇭. I looked around if anyone else heard, and my eyes locked with many English people that hade a cringy face on....

It's been really interesting watching the subtle evolution of your standpoint, as you've learnt more about the World over the years. Thanks for putting it out there. NO, CONNOR YOU HIT IT JUST RIGHT WITH THE PUBERTY REMARK, the more you learn about the world outside America the more your star spangled blindfold slips , it's really refreshing to see, I really wish more Americans could see themselves from the outside looking in, that is how a person grows, and as the populace matures, the country matures and things get better for everyone not just the rich and powerful , think of the difference in architecture between Europe and the US, when we became successful we built beautiful buildings and cities...... America built a military imagine the good you could do in your country for the average working person if you took just 10% of your annual military budget and invested it in people, infrastructure, health, min wage, that kind of thing eventually you could end up with a utopia.........
I appreciate the fact you can now look at your own country and question your own feelings about it. I am Scottish and have always lived in Scotland. I admire your attitude to your country. I have never been to Scotland, to be fair, I haven't been north of Caister (Norfolk) but though am English and have lived in Ladywell, Brockley, Camberwell and three homes in Catford (in London), in Meopham (Kent), and Battle (E.Sussex), and like living here, I am aware that our English worrying issues are (seemingly) worse than Scotland's worrying issues... Absolutely spot on! This talk about "Special Relationship" between the US and UK, is all smoke and mirrors stuff - it has never existed and does not yet exist. As part of NATO, member countries are essentially compelled to help each other, particularly when attacked by a foreign nation, but where were the Yanks during the Falklands War? - shimmying up to the Argies, that's where - all to to do with money and self-interests; they gave nogenuine aid to the Brits. They ran out of Korea, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan when they'd had enough, leaving their Allies to carry on with the peacekeeping in a hostile environment.. They were kicked out of Vietnam and Mogadishu, they screwed-up over the Cuban Crisis, and the showed the world that the US can't ever be trusted. I always think that if you asked people from different countries what the best country is, most of them would say their own country. The American would be the only one who was genuinely surprised that everyone didn't say America.
A MAJOR factor why Americans don't travel outside the US and why so few have Passports, in comparison to people from other countries, is because you have SO FEW mandated vacation days! Here in the UK we get a MINIMUM of 28 days paid holidays by law, which means travelling long distances is worthwhile, to spend three weeks in the US for example.
@@trevorcook4439 Exactly... My friend is arriving from Oz in a few weeks to spend a 4 week holiday over the Christmas/New Year period... So well worth the expense and flying time involved!
Not having a passport shows that many think they don't seem it's necessary to own one (No time to travel is perhaps an excuse)..The furthest many have been is Mexico or Canada. Many are not interested in seeing what's going on in the rest of the world. Different cultures, history, different languages. Curiosity, that's what many lack. Sure, the USA has beautiful landscape. But Europe also has its share...and that's only Europe. Lack of holidays is a restriction, but it's enough to visit say, with European regular and fast public transport, France, Germany and Holland or Switzerland, Italy and Austria within this time. It's a pity because perhaps many Americans would realize that "out there" there are other countries who don't have this general attitude of their country is the best in the world.
You made perfect sense. Because I’ve always wondered about that myself. I’m Swedish and I’ve been to the US numerous times in my life (and other places outside of Europe), spanning over four decades. The distance for me going to the US isn’t shorter than that for an American traveling outside America. So I’ve never understood any arguments to why Americans only or mostly travel domestically.
Did you see that senator threaten to crash the economies of the UK, France or Germany by imposing sanctions if they followed through on the international arrest warrant for Netenyahu?

That person that thinks their $hit doesn't stink and is better than everyone else. So far from eeality they can't see their own problems. Perhaps that's tied to the over confidence? I have visited a few times and my dad is from the US. It played into the reason we all live in Europe and the journey he has been on in how he views his countrymen.
I’ve seen a few videos where people who have lived in Europe feel very lonely after returning to the states because nobody’s even asking about their experiences abroad. I was wondering if it isn’t lonely/wether you don’t feel disconnected from your social circle when you’re changing your perspective so much by learning about the world through your channel in a similar way?
It is a good sign to love one own country. That is unless it hell. The more you love it, the more you are critical of it. In europe, and probably everywhere, we are the most critical of our own country. But that does mean that we are not proud of it. That is why it is important to know other countries and culture. @@dockingtroll6801 not really, why? I also heard "obese" and was triggered by the bad subtitles. just wanted to mention it. but english is not my native language so please enlighten me
I think that the people in the USA are not really to blame for their well-known and innate arrogance and impulsiveness. If you look closely at the history of the cultural and social development of the USA, you can assume that almost every country that would have found itself in a position like the USA after WW2 would have displayed the same self-confidence and arrogance. Almost entirely unscathed, with an economy so thriving that its internal market was completely saturated, in an almost unassailable geographical position, protected by two vast oceans and unprecedented military strength. And in addition to this, the development of modern PR took place at the same time (from 1945 onwards). Radio, TV, Internet, etc. The USA has learned and mastered how to use modern media for its own purposes, to determine opinions and to control what concerns the masses of people. Which, in my opinion, has created a deeply emotional driven and impulsive population. The United States is a master of propaganda, controlling nearly 70% of the largest media platforms in all shapes and sizes. The USA has been in a frenzy since the end of World War II. Every American since then has been raised with the mindset of being a hero chosen by God himself. They have never had to experience the total destruction of their own country. The United States essentially lacks the experiences that the rest of the world has been exposed to. The United States has similarities to the comic book character “The Mighty HULK”. Sometimes he is calm, intelligent and has great potential for good, but also is hyper-impulsive and turn into mega-strong, dangerous and childish minded monster.
I recognise that filming location as Sheffield (where I was at university, and where I still have a number of good friends). I do have friends in and from the States, and have full respect for the excellent people I've met when visiting there, and for the American travellers I've met in Britain (and on some RUclips channels), but my goodness the country's reputation has taken some heavy hits since 2016.
What's with the obsession with the flag....EVERYWHERE! Not just outside their homes, but in workplaces etc......I bet they have a pic of one on the bog doors, so you can wonder at it while taking a Tom-tit.
It's insecurity. Those of us who are actually patriotic don't see a need to proclaim it to everyone else. It's not even a new country thing - Germany & Italy are younger, as countries.
Because the interviewer is french the 'word' would have the phonetic sound of War. This is because in french language the last letter in a word is often not pronounced, ( hence Word sounds like War.
Love your country bro, never apologise for it, no human is perfect so how could a country be? But learning from mistakes is a tune we can all play, country, individual, collective
The negativity is self generated by the view of Americans from the outside world. My first thought is gun violence and mass shootings. Second Trump's wannabe dictator .3rd military spend nothing on its citizens.
Hi Connor , by and large Americans come across as great people. Maybe a little insular ? Overly patriottic to the point of we are the best? Im only summizing but thats the impression we get . Hope your doing well connor .
5:02 Her accent is pretty much RP (Received Pronunciation) which is basically ther only type of English you used to hear on the BBC before they deemed regional accents acceptable to be heard on TV. Presumably as it was non-descript and easy to understand. 11:00 Exactly spot on, this is America 100%. Except that it also goes around the world trying to tell other countries to act the same, because why wouldn't you want to be as awesome as us?
Your military is the best? Or is it just the biggest Connor? The British military will easilly stand toe to toe with them any time and the Gherkas are in a class of their own.
Another thing you got pissed about, England taxed you, then you fight to leave us , and then moan about all the taxes you're paying now. Which we don't pay in the UK. 😂
I think Connor you have it perfectly. People overseas find Americas over the top ways arrogant. Unfortunately Donald Trump has destroyed your reputation. He comes across as a vulgar idiot who has no idea what he is doing and is unfit to run a country. The fact he was voted in a second time proves he is a good car salesman. The sleazy kind that sell you a car with no brakes! You have a picturesque country with some amazing lovely people. I pray someone puts the brakes on him before he destroys it.
My one word would be "overconfident". You are taught to be that. You are taught - to the extent of being brainwashed - that the USA is the best country in the world. Ok, it's good to be proud of your country, but not to be so blinkered hat you believe you have nothing to learn from anyone else. Your road design is based on Germany's from the 1930's and hasn't changed at all. For improvements, look to Britain's motorway design, where all traffic mixing is done away from the main road so that the fast traffic never has to slow down at junctions. Or Europe generally, where roundabouts have evolved to be the safest, cheapest,, and most efficient way to organise junctions. Get rid of four-way stops, for God's sake! Your electrical systems are archaic, dangerous and prone to failure, with so many overhead cables and transformers on poles - prone to power cuts by trees falling or ice storms, or to lightning strikes. Your domestic power systems are archaic too, prone to fire by use of unprotected extension leads, and with lighting and power fed from the same circuits. Britain used that design until the 1950's, when we redesigned it to separate lighting and power, and we made sure everything - every single plug - was fused, to virtually eliminate fire risk from overloaded circuits. Just watch any of the videos explaining how good the British plug is, with all the safety features it has, and compare it to the cheap, flimsy, unsafe American plug. You have so much to learn from other countries, but you are taught that anyone who does things differently to you is doing it wrong. Please, be open to improvement.
As an Irish person, we have close ties to America. But I think America's polarised politics concern me about its stability, and how instability in the US could affect Europe and the rest of the world. A point on the UK. The big cities are more liberal and are always going to be more anti Trump. In rural England you would get more mixed opinions, and also in small towns in the Red Wall which have flipped from Labour to Conservative and back to Labour again. The Trump-like Reform UK party did very well in the Red Wall constituencies, and by splitting the rightwing vote let Labour in there,.
Your remark around the 12 minute mark about 'Americans screaming that they are the best in everything but actually aren't which annoys the rest of the world' nails it. And making excuses that some European infrastructure for like biking can't be implemented because they are too big of a country is short sighted or excuses Americans make why they can't implement environmental friendly procedures, cars, and other stuff/things. Why big cars if you can do it with a smaller environmental friendlier car which doesn't needs gallons of gas to run 1 mile. Big(ger) isn't alwasy better!
Should be retitled, What Do (the people from a small part of S. England, French sort-of-speaking Canada, India and some other assorted places I could not identify). Not so snazzy a title. IMO: USA, larger than I could have ever envisaged; stunningly naturally bea
The US is a fun place to visit but not a good place to be an employee-long hours , little vacation time , can be sacked easier than in europe. Lots of people are frustrated about the way that the US govt operates but Bob from Michigan cant effect that if he even knows what the US govt does.
I’ve been to the US six times. I love New York and found the people friendly enough (maybe that’s because I’m from London😉). Vegas is great but I wasn’t so keen on Boston. I intentionally went for St Paddy’s day but it didn’t feel as welcoming.

That's not the French language, it's English in a French accent... lol
It’s good to see my home town as a backdrop to these questions.
Iv been to America well new york absolutely hated it the rubbish on the streets and alot of youtuber's need to film in the early hours and see all the homeless on there streets broke my heart
When I was a teenager in Scotland many years ago, it was always the joke that you could always tell an American by the 10 cameras around his neck and wearing 5 different tartans all at the same time 😂
Hi from the uk. My view is that americans stem from us here in the uk and I like to think we will always have a special bond. And if you visit Northern France you'll see how they supported us in ww2.
The girl in glasses absolutely nails it, smart lass
The first guy said "Obese" not "A Beast" 😂
(Update) 4:17 he does hear it again xD
You hear what you want to hear ;-)

I think it's very interesting that everyone assumes he means the USA when he asks about 'America'.
Why wouldn't they? Don't you dare say america is a continent either...
The man said obese not a beast lol
The 1st guy said OBESE not A Beast
I recognise that filming location as Sheffield (where I was at university, and where I still have a number of good friends). I do have friends in and from the States, and have full respect for the excellent people I've met when visiting there, and for the American travellers I've met in Britain (and on some RUclips channels), but my goodness the country's reputation has taken some heavy hits since 2016.
her accent is received pronunciation - so standard middle class english
What's with the obsession with the flag....EVERYWHERE! Not just outside their homes, but in workplaces etc......I bet they have a pic of one on the bog doors, so you can wonder at it while taking a Tom-tit.
Then wipe your arse on stars and stripes bog roll...
They must have deleted my comment about wiping your butt on stars and stripes bog roll,so I'll try again.
It's insecurity. Those of us who are actually patriotic don't see a need to proclaim it to everyone else. It's not even a new country thing - Germany & Italy are younger, as countries.
Hope your good Connor ❤
Because the interviewer is french the 'word' would have the phonetic sound of War. This is because in french language the last letter in a word is often not pronounced, ( hence Word sounds like War.
Merde alors !
This is in Sheffield, I think.
I do wish we could specify the US an stop saying America. America is the continent
I thought he said war too
"Everyone drinks Brwando because the tap water is polluted"
Love your country bro, never apologise for it, no human is perfect so how could a country be?
But learning from mistakes is a tune we can all play, country, individual, collective
Interesting. Hope you're going well. You have a very balanced view..don't take negativity to heart. 🎉
More like "neutral".......neither posh or common. It certainly didn't come across as R P.
Your military is the best? Or is it just the biggest Connor? The British military will easilly stand toe to toe with them any time and the Gherkas are in a class of their own.
You voted for Trump and his cohorts TWICE!!.... nuff said 😔
You're a clever guy Connor ❤
Another thing you got pissed about, England taxed you, then you fight to leave us , and then moan about all the taxes you're paying now.
Which we don't pay in the UK. 😂
He said obese indeed. Thank you AI😢
Disagree about Trump, he does not come across as a vulgar idiot to a lot of us Brits!
@@AnnabelleJARankin All are entitled to their own opinion but keep an eye on the news. It's already looking rather worrisome.
I am pretty sure he said ''obese''
LOL....most of those interviewed were anything but British!!
McJibbin listen to Daniel Tosh on america.
Conner, the first guy said Obese, the subtitles got it wrong.
Never mind the political aspects of him, but Trump is a symbol for the US. There's a reason he's big over there. He is that person.
" British" people !!??
Should be retitled, What Do (the people from a small part of S. England, French sort-of-speaking Canada, India and some other assorted places I could not identify). Not so snazzy a title. IMO: USA, larger than I could have ever envisaged; stunningly naturally bea

Plenty of room for misunderstanding with the accents and some pretty random responses . I'm thinking I agree with your thoughts .
awwww a beast thats adorable, He said obese
You’ve done the Harry Enfield Americans in Britain videos and he gets your lot spot on - irritating and unaware.
Yeah, you're from India?, yeah they just love people who look like you out there.
The US is a fun place to visit but not a good place to be an employee-long hours , little vacation time , can be sacked easier than in europe. Lots of people are frustrated about the way that the US govt operates but Bob from Michigan cant effect that if he even knows what the US govt does.
Are many of thee people actually British? Listen to tgeir accents
I’ve been to the US six times. I love New York and found the people friendly enough (maybe that’s because I’m from London😉). Vegas is great but I wasn’t so keen on Boston. I intentionally went for St Paddy’s day but it didn’t feel as welcoming.

Their opinions were very mild and politically correct
wow seconds in, you misheard the word obese for a beast and you smiled at that? :/
this is what we think of folk from the usa.
I'm English and I think the political situation in America is a joke, how did trump get back into the white house? He's a convicted felon for god's sake
I can tell you in Sweden, Germany and Finland we are not exactly fans of Americans either. It's back to the days of the Cold War.
