Nice clock! My Junghans Loudspeaker had the same problem with the pendulum being too long and to slove that I replaced the bob with something lighter. Happy ( early ) birthday!
I also have one of those Hermle clocks from the 70s. Mine has a longer case. These clocks were almost similar to the Junghans loudspeaker clocks. There were many case variants of it. But even if many of these cases were ugly, the movements can withstand a lot. Mine was stored in my attic for three years where it got very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. I put the clock back on the wall today and it runs without any problems.
Hermle movements in general seem to be really well engineered! They take beatings for sure and still work reliably, very resilient mechanisms. I've had similar experiences with 70s and 80s Hermle clocks. In retrospect, this case isn't really all that bad, I gave it quite a hard time in my presentation. 😅
It's a very nice clock actually. It reminds me of a Polish Metron wall clock I had a few years ago, which I stupidly sold when I needed money. It had a loudspeaker bim bam, a Vienna dead beat escapement and Harrison's maintaining power! From the communist East! I hope it's still out there in my local area somewhere.
Woah that sounds really interesting! I hope you can find it again someday, or one similar. Communist East clocks are really interesting. So were their cars! Like the Trabants. I feel like I was too harsh on the design in the video, I've grown to like it the longer I've had it in my room. :)
@@DannysClocks The Metron clock had cast iron weights with a rough gold-painted finish instead of brass casings. They were a kind of double-cone shape.
I did that same repair once with a Majak cuckoo clock pendulum. It was running fast so I stuck a big steel washer on the back, low down, and that fixed it! Why it was running fast is a mystery as the pendulum was original.
I just feel like there should be more respect for the 1970s. I feel like too many people hate it for some reason. I’m glad you don’t think it’s that bad.
@@retroryan838 Don't get me wrong! Stuff from the 1970s is charming in its own way, I just personally prefer things from a few years before the 70s. There's nothing wrong with 70s stuff whatsoever and I totally respect the designs from that era. :)

Why did you call it ugly? I think the woodwork is nice.
As I said in the end, it could be worse!
