    one thing to note about the plastic construction; the motor is attached to a steel plate, and that plate is either bolted to your rig or table, the plastic just surrounds the rest of the electronics / provides for air cooling

    As a sim racer & wheelchair user, I really appreciate the design choices here. Quick-release wheel makes context-switching of my desk easier; gradient paddles are excellent (currently I’m mapping a TrackIR to a custom vJoy config - head pitch up for accel, down for brake); separate pedals help (I’ll never use them); but my personal favourite is the centre-mounted desk clamp: I have bruises on my knees from whacking the clamp knobs under each side of my G29, & the single central clamp will mitigate that. Love it! If Logi wants to send me one I’ll put it to much use 😁

      I agree that it's better to run the motor at 50% than at 90-100% of its maximum output. It should at the very least allow it to run cooler and last longer, while hitting those power values with less strain on the motor.

    You actually want the 11nm. You just set the force feedback to a strength you like then the extra headroom is nice for other setting such as when you crash or run over rumble strips. Personally, I think the majority of the racing sim crowd would not want 5nm max for sure...8 maybe but without that extra headroom the other vibration etc... effects are also limited. My Fanatec DD2 makes 25nm of torque, I only run it at about 30-40% force feedback on the base and maybe 60-70% in the game and it is amazing the detail it outputs if dialed in properly. In short you can turn down the FFB to less than peak torque but you can't turn up past peak if it's lacking.

    In fact this should be like 400-600 bucks first DD base just like products from competitors but a bit more affordable as Logitech is not a small garage based company and have it all, name, production power to produce way more products. Not a single normal person will spend his money for this product after a day long research into sim racing coz why if competitors are way longer into it and have stable drivers and great settings ecosystem for all the different games and even cars.

    I do love Logitech's pedigree in value, style and engineering. I had a G27 and that thing took a beating with mods and 3d printed parts and is still going as strong as the day I bought it in 2013. I since then upgraded to a Thrustmaster T300RS with T-CLM Pedals and the TH8A Shifter and looking to go to a DD wheelbase. I was eyeing Simagics Alpha Mini 2 and the Fanatec CSL DD. But since I own most of Logitech peripherals like the G733 wireless headset, G502 Lightspeed mouse with power mat I may be swayed towards this. I will await more reviews and lets see where Logitech goes with updates.

    So I have a Sim Experience wheel and the NM is not so much about how powerful the wheel is as it is the definition of what you are feeling.When you turn the feedback down you should still get the definition (curbs,rumble strips thing like that).so the more powerful the motor the more signal it can handle.You would really never run a a big motor like this all the way up in a race as your arms and hands would wear out before you even finish a race.So an example of what I am talking about is when you are in the high banks at Daytona with a G27 all you would feel is just a constant force.With a direct drive you will feel the repair patch in the track as long as the program is capable of it.The wheel doesn't get overloaded because of the tiny motor like what's in the G27 or 29 or whatever #their up too now.I am interested in the diameter of the wheel for that price point it better be a full size wheel like in a real gt race car.At that price your options are pretty wide and really need to do your research before you buy.

    I think it is always better to have 11nm product and setup it to 5 or 6 nm, or your preference, but having a machine being capable to offer all the spectrum from 0-11nm to bring you better and precise sensations in every situation, I think it is gonna be more capable to give you the exact tone on different games also.

  • @FunnyFred67
    @FunnyFred67 2 года назад

    I believe as far as headroom for torque of the wheel, it’s about the quality of feel rather than strength. 5-6 nm on an 11nm when will feel much better and it will be more reliable as you’re not driving the wheel at max all the time. The quality is increased as the motor driving the wheel is able to provide these movements while producing less heat, therefore allowing for more reliable and scale-able feeling throughout the torque curve of the wheel, and the ability for high torque situations to be able to be felt on the wheel, instead of capping out.

    Considering the pedals are nearly 100€ more than the new Fanatec CSL Elite V2 you didn't really talk much about how the loadcell pedal was? Were they good/bad anything? You just talk about the new DD wheel, which is nice, but you have both products.

    I was thinking of buying the thrustmaster TS-XW.. is Logitech’s DD wheel driving experience better?

    Products look great, pricing is disappointing. I would go with Fanatec but the CSL DD (5nm) is almost always sold out whenever I check out if I can buy it with not great options to ship to Canada. Very frustrating trying to get into this hobby post-covid.
