    I did them with tips from Amazon and ibd builder gel from Sally's. I really liked them but wondered if the actual Apres Gel-X tips we're stronger as they are made of gel instead of plastic. Got the system 4 days ago and they are PERFECTION! The tips are stunning and are so strong. Now I'm doing a wear test but these are far superior to anything I can create. I'll never go back. 😁

    I also had the same thoughts and experimented with tips & builder in the bottle. I also used a pink to gauge where I needed more or less product and after the first couple I was off. As a Acrylic girl, I won’t be in a rush to do these again but for quickness and ease I think it’s spot on 👍👍👍
    Like you I’m wearing them to see about durability 👍

    Very ingenious. I can’t afford that system either and have some nails and a soak off builder gel so I’m going to try this as well. I watched this one after watching your removal one. I’d say that the fact that after 7 days there was no lifting then I’m all in.

    I love this ! I tried it with my gel and fake full nails too & it lasted me sooo long!! Longer than any other nail systems I’ve tried. Gel & acrylic.. I had zero lifting and I had them on for near a whole month! It was a bit of a struggle to get them off.. to break that seal if u will.. so I could get acetone under the nail to remove them. I love this.. I wonder.. can u use the polygel system to adhere them like u did with the builder gel? Bcuz the polygel is made so the nail form can “pop” off it. 🤔 would it pop off the fake full nail too!?

    I definitely had the thought of doing this but I can see how the gel X system does give an apex so for that reason I thought it was worth the money. Also the fact they are made of gel not plastic. They feel strong. I didn't buy the whole system. Just the nails and the gel since I have a dehydrator and primer already.

    you can actually buy parts of the apres system separately! i bought the coffin long nail tips (£27.99 in early Jan, now 34.99 idk why) and the extend gel (£25.99) from the uk distributor and those alone work fine for self use as long as you have other general prep materials and a lamp! shipping and tax comes up to £14 all together though if you get next day delivery which is pricey. i have a few diff types of full cover nails, makartt (£5 aliexpress) ballerina nails are structured exact same way as apres but I must admit apres is better plastic (or 'gel') no matter how much you bend it you barely get white stress marks if any and they haven't snapped on me. the flex on them is great. overall a pretty good product but probably a bit over priced in my opinion and I did the thumb sizes a bit small. the cheaper full cover nails def different material but I'm sure it's fine for a cheaper alternative, I tested one for a couple days and it was fine I took it off just because it was a tester
    thanks for sharing this though nice to see more demos of alternatives!

    • @Danellr007
      @Danellr007 6 лет назад +1

      the price may have been different because they introduced Pro pricing. Also, the Apres tips are gel and not plastic, that is why they will soak off easily. I would be interested to see how she is able to remove these. I have also found the Luminary Base gel works with the Apres system and is cheaper. I did not buy the full kit when I started either. I do like this system for nail biters and also those who want special occasion nails.

    • @jordansimmone8478
      @jordansimmone8478 6 лет назад

      @@Danellr007 normal plastic full cover tips soak off easily too. I've compared. gel, acrylic, polygel etc are all forms of plastic once hardened. apres is marketed as soft gel but there's no ingredients on the tip packaging like there is on the tub of the extend gel. they feel exactly the same and are structured, bend the same as the makartt ballerina nails I have both and compared side by side, it's just that apres is slightly clearer, has more flex without as much noticeable damage (e.g white marks) and the filing dust smells slightly different. otherwise you wouldn't really be able to tell. and yeah, the pro pricing is set for building brand value bc imo they should be half the price they actually are. especially now they went up in price since I bought them a couple weeks ago

    • @alleniversonisabeast
      @alleniversonisabeast 6 лет назад

      Jordan Simmone plastic nails and tips can be soaked off? As in the disintegrate when soaked?
      I will have to ask them on instagram what the ingredients for the nails are because you’ve got me thinking of conspiracies 😂😂
      This looks very good but I was concerned about the removal process. I hope she shows us. This soak of builder is much more runny than the extend gel. When I first go the tips I tried to use several soak off builder gels and structure gels but they didn’t work.
      Have you tried the method in the video before?

    • @jordansimmone8478
      @jordansimmone8478 6 лет назад

      you know like when you use plastic nail tips for nail extensions and they kinda dissolve a bit jelly like? but the removal is a bit awkward because of the glue? it's basically like that with out the glue. i haven't compared soak offs at the exact same time so I cant say it's exact same but similar enough. they both can soak off (normal plastic full cover i have used and apres) however both are also best to be filed down as close to the nail as possible for best/quickest result.
      again the difference in the plastic is still there but they both do feel like plastic, apres just being a more durable one holding up well when bent a lot. the makartt nails are built almost identically to apres but a tiny bit longer, thinking it's made on same/familiar machine. makartt is prob just cheaper plastic.
      I love the apres and do think they're better due to holding up better when flexed however I believe it's way over priced and should be around half of what it is for the nails

    • @jordansimmone8478
      @jordansimmone8478 6 лет назад +2

      and i have tried this method with non apres materials, I actually used a clear full cover tip and polygel (same process of doing dual form except you use a full cover nails and rough up the inside but don't/can't take off the nail like you would the dual form)
      but polygel was a bit harder to work with for this method and it didn't hold up as well, nail popper off the gel even tho i roughed it up.
      i need to find a good soak off builder gel (other than this) alternative to the extend gel. i have a theory the ingredients would be similar to soak off adhesive gels described as uv/led resin used for gems/nail art work so I'm looking for cheap ones to try. will update if I find a good alternative!

    I use builder gel and clear acrylic powder alternately using the sticky layer to pick up the acrylic. Works Great. Add however many layers needed depending on how hard you are to your nails keeping in mind the thickness.

    Nice nails! I have the Gel-x system....yep it was expensive but i got it as part of a christmas present... the main difference i see here is that the gel x nails have a shape that holds more gel underneath and makes an apex. I think your experiment looks very good and i think if you had used clear builder gel underneath you would not have such an obvious excess to clean up afterwards, as the pink shows up where it is thicker at the tip of your own nail. Hope that makes sense. I have a little Sensationail Fuse one finger lamp ( cheap)and the top of it is removable so i turn the top facing the opposite direction to the body and it sits in its magnetic pegs, overhanging the body of the lamp. This gives me a hands free small led lamp to secure the nail initially. Its still a bit of a contortion trick to do it on myself though. 😄

    • @andreawhisenant2718
      @andreawhisenant2718 6 лет назад

      You can build an apex with base gel on top for looks. May give a little more strength. A C curved tip would allow more gel to be applied underneath.

    Such a great idea!! You're absolutely right about the expense of the Apres nails, and that they are basically Hell on Earth to apply them to yourself, but there are a number of companies that have put out dupes for the Apres gelx nails. Take a look at enailcouture.com - right now they have gel nails for $9.99. It's a relatively new e-store, and they only have the coffin and almond tip shapes, but you can easily reshape them to your desired shape, and really, you can't beat the price. I've just completed my first order, and I've purchased some other useful items as wel, like nail tip storage cases, as well as the "express sculpture nails" which looks like it will do away with that "Hell on Earth" aspect of tip application. Just give them a look, you might find something useful - I would just about bet on it! 💕
