I am 64 I have the same shape as Caroline, I am 104lb , 5”4 height and I didn’t use any medication , I don’t eat sugar, no alcohol, no processed food, no seeds oil, 25% carbs, I eat eggs and various meats and more green vegetables, and I exercise, I am very healthy
Dang, I’m 27 and you’re probably in better shape than me. I eat the same way honestly, but I’m trying just now to optimize my light environment/ sun exposure and work on exercise. Right now I have spider veins and varicose veins that are out of control. Do you have any advice or tips on anything?
Hi Dr OMara, I recently turned 60 and am frequently told I look 40. I'm still menstruating. I was always naturally slim but noticed my body shape deteriorating about 12 years ago so I went on a low carb, high protein, high fat diet, plenty of fruit and veg. I started exercising daily...just a half hour workout and walking. I not only got my figure back, it is better than it ever has been. Also, and I'm only being honest...I have become more beautiful. I am surprised at this and don't know what it is about my face that has changed, but something profound has. I have had 4 natural births, breastfed each child for 18 months and never took the contraceptive pill. I feel full of energy, clear headed and have just started a new career and am setting up my own business. I think most of this is due to my lifestyle and I believe everyone would benefit from following this. I would be happy to be involved in studies you are doing, Maria
My aunt who is going to be 80 this year has followed a low glycemic diet since she was young because her doctor suggested it. Apparently she had some hypoglycemic issues and she was warned it could turn into diabetes. She took it seriously, avoided sugary high starch foods and NEVER had a weight problem. She recently visited during the summer and her body is amazing! There she was in her little summer dress, not a hint of cellulite or saggy skin. This is one of the advantages of not getting fat and having your skin stretch I guess, and generally taking care of yourself. BTW, she has very few wrinkles on her face and you'd never think EVER she's pushing 80! Rather 60.
Thank you! HRT is so important but most doctors still say it causes cancer. I have not been able to get my doctor to prescribe HRT and I have been to many.@@mommabear5059
@@DrSeanOMara Please address the issue of beneficial weight GAIN and getting firm flesh and muscle tone with this diet, is carnivore only good for weight loss? Or at least is it not toxic if one continues to eat some carbs with it (i.e. simple sourdough bread, cottage cheese and dairy, some fruits -- nothing processed)? I hope that adding red meat to the diet is not an all-or-nothing plan, that one can improve their health even if not eliminating all other foods. No one seems to answer this question!
I'm 59 and was 180ish🫣. I started carnivore in April and sprinting 2 months ago. I'm now at 153. I just had my yearly check up, and my Dr wanted to know how i lost weight. My bp was usually through the roof, but now normal. Thank you Dr OMara. I've never sprinted in my life, and find it exhilarating. My legs are getting muscular. My entire body is firming up and changing. The viseral fat is melting away. It's freeing to have control over how I feel... Thank You 😊...

@@DrSeanOMara Do you really think eating animal flesh is healthy? What is going on in her arteries? She is a meat eater so is therefore ingesting bad animal fat and cholesterol. Being slim doesn't mean you are healthy. By the way, I am 64, and a slim vegan.
My endo told me I was heading towards diabetes, and "no more carbs for you". I quit cold turkey and went keto. I felt like a new person in one week. Eventually, I cut out all leafy greens and now I eat only meat and fat. I have been doing this for 35 years. I am now 64 and healthier than all my friends and family. This is the Fountain of Youth.
My goodness, she is gorgeous! I'm 67 and am 4 months into carnivore lifestyle. This result may be out of reach for me, but she, and you, give me great hope. Thank you!

Carnivore for 10 months. I lost 100 pounds then I hit a weight loss plateau. I started adding fermented foods per Sean’s recommendation and the fat started falling off again!😊 Thank you so much!
I love how direct and forceful you are at explaining and teaching the science of a healthy body. I am 58 yrs old and I had gained a huge amount of weight over the past 10 yrs or so, resulting in a huge bloated abdomen and visceral fat and rolls of subcutaneous fat around the middle and back. I hated looking and feeling this way and so I decided to take matters into control and got heavily into fasting, eliminated all processed food and inflammatory oils that are hidden in almost every single item in the grocery store. I reduced my carbs a lot and removed sugar from diet, although I still have the odd bit of chocolate now and again. I stopped drinking alcohol and increased my expertise. The weight started to shift after a couple of months of barely a movement on the scales and now after 8 months I have lost 14 kilos, sorry I am in the UK and use metric. I went from a UK size 14 to a size 8. However I still have lots of visceral fat around the abdomen that I just cannot seem to shift. Also my belly skin is very stretched from child bearing so it still drops down rather than creating a flat siloutte even though I am much smaller than I was early this year. Please advise on how to shift this final belly fat and what to do about lose rolls of skin below the belly button. Love you channel. I have just subscribed. Many thanks.
I have lost about 35 pounds since my peak weight. Had lots of loose skin. Day 48 of sprinting nearly daily. Definitely helping with my loose skin. Hoping that by 6 months I will have fixed the issue. I am 73. Hopefully younger people will have quicker success.
I've been vegan for decades and turned 57 a week ago. I wear a size 0 and most think I'm younger than I am. You don't have to give up carbs and live on meat and cheese. I eat quality plant foods. I am also very active. I do need to add fermented foods into my diet. Gut microbiome is increasingly fascinating to learn about just how much it controls.
I am not a vegan, but I like natto. It is fermented soybeans. It's not fizzy like kambucha. It is a weird food that I can't say I like, but can say I crave in small doses. You'd want to eat it with something else, maybe some gently sauteed veges.
@@carolynngockel3670 I have been wanting to add nattol into my diet because it is so incredibly healthy and I am obsessed with all things Japanese. Not many stores carry it and it is a little bit pricey while looking like it has the consistency of snot, but I am totally curious. 😂
Dr. OMara, you are really on to something, and I know for a fact you are 100 percent correct, Kudos Do you know how amazing it is to have a swimmers body at 60 years of age, and wear the same size pants as when you were 35, amazing. Keep up the Great Work Dr. OMara.
I have eaten a low carb diet for decades, as my friends have known. My Heart Attack Diet is now called the carnivore diet. Have never been fit but have always had the same body type. As a poor person I eat only the meats I can catch or afford to buy.
Love your content Dr. Sean! I started sprinting occasionally on walks during Covid as I began hearing more and more about how good the short bursts were for metabolism. Last September 2022 I heard about my State having a National Senior Games track and field event. I signed up for the 50m, 100m and 200m events with 3 weeks to prepare. I had never raced before or even been on a track! My coach was RUclips! Now 13 months later I have been to 6 Senior/Masters track meets competing in the Women’s 65-69 age group (I’m 66) and have 16 medals (10 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronze). My diet is mostly meat and that extra 5 pounds that I always wished I didn’t have is gone. I feel wonderful, healthy and happy!
I’m 52 years old and well on the ketovore track for two years. Feeling great, aging in reverse, mentally and physically stronger than I’ve ever been. Thank you for showing such a healthy, beautiful woman. I love all your videos but it was nice to showcase a female. Hope there will be more in the future….she gives me so much motivation to keep on keepin’ on!
Congrats. I'm a 52 year old man and been doing carnivore since 2019. I've never felt better and people sometimes ask me how to lose weight, as it is working amazingly well for me.
I’m 60 and went keto in February. I now have cut lines on my torso, arms and legs (like in the comic books). Can’t believe it. Wish the skin would be as supple as it used to - trying to figure that part out. But at least I’ve lost the excess weight!
@@sferrara - Hi. Post meno for about a decade. I would suggest you check out Dr. Mindy Pelz for additional insight into diet when still having cycles. Thanks for encouraging us ladies! Found your channel a month ago and have been taking your advice. I'm pressing through the sprints. All your advice is easy, the sprints are a challenge, but I'm getting better. I'm 64, weigh 123 lbs, now have a flat tummy. If my grey hair was as gorgeous as Carolyn's, I wouldn't color it either. 😆
Just a suggestion. I can't run with my back and knees, so I bought a high quality vibration plate I can stand on to increase blood flow through my body, but you can also do squats and lunges to maximize leg and core muscle engagement and improve stabilizing your muscles.
Suekeith3751 Would you mind sharing the type shoes you wear for sprints? (assuming you are doing running sprints). I need to start, but no idea what brand/type shoe to wear. I mean, running shoes, obviously, but - lightly padded? Heavy padding? Barefoot type? Right now I'm (not running) but sort of slow jogging outside on soft earth, in the citrus groves near my place. Rough terrain, so I'm wearing Sorrel hiking boots - no padding at all but they are light and have a very roomy toebox. That's my zone 2 cardio. Otherwise, I'm also lifting heavy for strength training But for sprinting, I'm just trying to get an idea from others, near my age, who are just beginning - their shoe of choice.😊
@@barbarafairbanks4578 wearing very light, slip on tennis shoes works beast. it took a couple weeks to strengthen my ankles. If I were just starting out, I would work on that issue first by hanging my heals off a step and going up and down on my toes. Great video! Caroline is stunning. I did Adkins WAY back in the day and my biggest regret in life is that I didn't stick with it. If only I could go back in time... Thanks for all that you do!
Cheers Doc. I am 109 days into my carnivore lifestyle. 51-year-old male from the UK. I am down from 263 pounds to 218 pounds already. Still a work in progress but you are right. I quite all carbs/sugars/grains/gluten/processed foods/seed oils and dairy. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos. The interesting thing is I have already doubled my free T4 levels in less than 3 months with zero medication. Thank you for spreading your life-saving information. I respect your work immensely.
I’m 58, female. I lost 190 pounds over 2 years doing low carb then switching to carnivore and incorporating fasting. I’ve been carnivore for two years now. I started sprinting 3 weeks ago. I’m noticing that I sleep better since I started and hoping to fix my stiff neck and and upper back. I’m trying to convince my doctor to order a MRI for me but she’s being weird about it. Really enjoy your videos.
Amazing accomplishment! I'm a little older than you, and I'd like to lose 90 lbs. When the fat comes off, does your skin hang because there's nothing there to fill it out? We lose collagen as we age and the structure of the skin loosens. :(
@@TMZDDZ I do have some loose skin, but I think because I ate high fat red meat, my skin laxity is not that bad. My daughter has a friend that is 20 years younger than me that had bariatric surgery. She lost a similar amount of weight in the same amount of time. She has a lot of loose skin. She only weighs 10 more pounds than I do and is only an inch shorter than me and she wears a size 14-I wear size 4. It’s definitely because of the amount of loose skin that she still has.
I have been Atkins since 1996 and carnivore since 2020. Atkins was right! My father who was a professor of biochemistry figured out why low carb would work. Fats burn in the fire of carbohydrates. And when you are burning your carbs, the byproducts are CO2 and water. When you burn ketones, the byproducts are ketones and you are able to dump many of those. It is like a pilot in an emergency dumping fuel rather than circling and slowly burning the fuel. Knowing the metabolic concept of burning versus dumping kept me low carb because I knew high carb would be worse. Atkins explained it but not as well as dad. What I never knew until 2020 is that I didn’t need any carbs. And apparently my liver is extremely good at gluconeogenesis. My blood sugars have been between 98 and 112 since I began carnivore. I started sprinting about 25 days ago. Daily. It seems to be helping with my loose skin. I am 73.
@@melbbb5673 Here’s what I would say. If you are going to get deep into ketosis, you do so by being near carnivore (lots of grades of carnivore). Most carnivores are ambush predators. They chase their prey, kill it, eat it and sleep many hours of the day. Cats sleep 16 hours a day, dogs about twelve for example. Carnivores are not as strong as an ox, and except for canines, they can’t run like mustangs. So if you want more of a herbivorous lifestyle, you are probably going to have to eat like one. The problem with that is humans are a two fuel species: glucose and ketones. Once you eat too many carbs you become a one fuel species and there is more and more evidence that we need ketones for cells that fail on sugar alone.

Have no wrinkles or grey hair yet but miss my flat belly and hate my body right now. Thanks for this info.
I've been following Dr. Sean's eating habits for about 6 weeks. I eat animal products, no milk except for Keifer, fermented foods as a garnish. I'm not to grass-fed yet because I flip homes and I have too many in the pipeline and money is getting tight until I get one sold. I also get a lot of sun as I work on the outside of my houses quite a bit. I started sprinting last week and I am adding a 72 hour fast for the first time starting this Sunday night about 6. I plan to do that every week with every 4th week being 96 hours. Results are 45 lbs down and I'm sure the visceral fat is down but I wouldn't really know. To be at the top end of "healthy bmi" for whatever that is worth, I need to lose 18 more. I no longer have the aches and pains in my low back, neck, left elbow tendinitis, occasional headaches. The tinnitus in my left ear is much better. My right big toe was a nuisance but it was definitely numb and now it's gone. I SLEEP ALL NIGHT WITHOUT WAKING UP 1-2 TIMES TO URINATE!!! I wake up refreshed and go all day without the post lunchtime crash. My bowels are no longer loose and probably borderline "irritable". I no longer can clear a room with gas. My stream is getting better for urination. I think my face is getting better looking again as well because the chronic bags under my eyes are going away and I notice my eyes being bright blue again. Last thing I can think of is my balding head, lol. I started losing it when I was 26 but my whole life I ate a poor American diet. So, maybe I get that back? I just wanted to say I'm 53 and if my results sound good its never too early to start this proper way of living. I have been on my kids to start now before they start putting on the visceral fat. Most importantly, it's never too late either. Thank you Dr. Sean!
The best looking women for their age, what I have seen, are the ones that do heavy weights, they look fantastic. These are women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s plus. Ernestine Shepherd is in her 80s she is mind blowing to look at.
Great stuff as always Sean. I like hearing that this lady did Atkins. Exactly what I've been doing for 6 months now. I've lost 40 lbs. I believe Atkins is way more sustainable than keto. Both are low carbs but Atkins is lower fat and higher protein than keto. I also lost my weight from eliminating snacking and ultra-processed foods. Also running, walking and sprinting as Sean recommends. Those are the keys right there. I'm 53, an RN and Air Force veteran. I still have a little gut on me but that's from all the snacking and crap I've at for yrars.
Congrats Dr O Mara for this important work! I m 64 and I have had a good diet for most of my life .. My mom turned a 100 this year(2023.)she is healthy and looks beautiful,. She has a stable mind and a healthy body . She turned a vegetarian at the age of 64 years old.. I am very interested in your work. I decided to go back to modeling and would love to know what else I can do to improve more my health.
Intermittent fasting and have a disciplined fitness training regime. Its never too late to start. If you're not fit start gently and after several months you'll realise youve come a long way. You will never regret it.
For those that want to give low carb a go it does not take decades of eating this way to get to low visceral fat. Depending on where someone is starting from it can take just 3 months to a year. Carnivore diet is like magic I’ve found.
At 59 years old, I had no wrinkles, I was slender as I had been my whole life. I ate a balanced diet that included fish and chicken and lots of vegetables. I exercised every day, and I always looked 10 years younger than my birth age. I think a lot of it Has to do with genetics.
Loved this! Very helpful and inspiring. I'm also 59 and keto for 2 years with good results but still want to improve. -Just found you and learned about visceral fat and sprinting. I just watched your "live" with Carolyn and noticed she doesn't like to sprint. What does she do instead to have such an amazing MRI? (Based on the incredible results you've shown, I'm going to try sprinting, but curious what she does for exercise to contribute to her results.) Thanks, Dr. O'Mara!
Based on her IG, she distance runs and swims, as well as being generally active outdoors. Based on her self-reported diet, she eats much less than most, it would likely be hard to sustain for someone without a lot of willpower and history of doing so. Not impossible, it just comes down to what a person prioritizes, and how their body handles it. Lastly, she also states that she believes she has good genes as well, as her mother was also very slim.
Thank you sir! Sharing this short vid with the men in my life to get their toes wet! 46yr old gal clean eating low carb for 15+ years, carnivore last 3 months. Always been lean but carnivore takes you to the next level...mind & bonus is the body 🙏
Neh, my mother also had a thin build but she still had the pouch from two pregnancies. Not everyone's skin bounces back and all you can do is accept it of cut it off. There is no magic cure for pregnancy and nor should you expect to have a flat stomach. Some bodyfat is actually healthy, especially for women and some extra weight helps you when you get sick later on in life as you have reserves. This woman is very thin but she also has no bum to speak of. Her face may also age faster because of it.
indeed, does depend on your genetics, predisposition as well. Caroline is very motivated and disciplined in her diet and exercise which is the main ingredient needed here. You still want to enjoy life and not be so ruled by what you eat and work out.
And to add in agreement, it is actually natural for women to have that little pouch layer of fat we are not meant to look like 12 yo girls or boys as mature women. And I am 56 and 5',6" tall and size 8/10 so I am not jealous of slim women. I do agree with him regarding cutting down on the carbs though that certainly makes a difference.
@@DrSeanOMara She also had facial work done like a face lift. You have no idea what my mom had inside, she was naturally very slim, not from being on a diet and gym work, strong too. You shouldn't be selling this crap about superskinny women, it's not natural to have little bodyfat and is especially unhealthy for women.
What are your thoughts about genetics playing into this. Specifically bodies that don’t hold onto fa? I’m 41 and had 3 babies by cesarean, however my abs retuned immediately after. I would love have my body examined like this to gain insight on what I can do to maintain or improve my health like this beautiful woman. Thanks for this content.
Watch some of his other recent videos and you'll see Dr. Omara on a wind resistant stepper. While he talks mostly about sprinting, underlying that he consistantly make the point of MIT = Maximum Intinsity Training. He goes past Hi Intensity to Maximum. Use your own common sense and find an exercise that is doable and totally exhausting. One that takes you to gasping for breath - that's all you need.
In other videos of his, he says nothing can really substitute all the pos of sprinting, but he says you can do other things if you are injured or haven't worked out for a long time. One of those things which I started was sprint rowing. Still did 2 to 5 seconds, all out after stretching, 3 to 5 rounds, and in the sauna I go working up from 10 to 15 minutes at 175 F recommended.
I am 59 & have that exact build. I am losing muscle even through resistance training & my skin is losing elasticity. I believe lyme has something to do with it but diet has controlled it until menopause
I was inspired watching this video and as I am ten years older than Caroline, who is definitely beautiful and fit, I subscribed to her channel. So I was quite surprised to see on watching a what she eats video that she includes biscuits, bread, loads of veg and soya milk. That doesn’t sound very low carb to me. Also she didn’t mention eating red meat, although she may, but she does eat butter and cheese.
I also just went on Caroline's website and looked at her typical week food diary. Red licorice, salt and vinegar chips, chili potato chips, Nachos, Maltesers, custard creams, thin crust pizza, diet pepsi, crackers, soya milk. Not very much protein. She takes 4 different supplements. I also watched Dr. Chaffee's interview with Maggie a few weeks ago and I believe Maggie is full carnivore (for decades).
I am 54 and discovered keto last year, after decades of eating salads and avoiding meat and fat. Despite my disciplined and restrictive low-fat diet, I could never shed the excess 15 lbs and I was always hungry and had all kinds of gastrointestinal distress that I thought was just a normal part of getting older. Going keto was like discovering the secret of the universe. The 15 lbs I had tried to lose dropped off in 3 months and I now weigh what I did in high school. The gastrointestinal issues vanished. I love eating meat, eggs and fat. My husband joined me on the journey (he lost 35 lbs) and we feel like we eat like royalty. We don’t feel deprived at all. I can’t believe I ever fell for the low fat high carb model when it clearly didn’t work for me. I will never, ever go back.
I’m 61 years old and my weight it’s 102lb eat just organic healthy food, I eat just 1 time during the day, last week I went for my doctor routine texts and again I’m perfect, since I turned. 50 years old I started to don’t eat junk food, I don’t buy any products from cans, bags or box. I go to the store and buy organic veggies 🥦, meat 🥩, fish 🐠 that’s it. 🙋🏻♀️
Hi Doc. I posed this question on another video of yours, but since this is the newest one, I’m posting it here. I’m one of the people that is just unable to sprint. I do swimming sprints, but yesterday I took an aqua jogger belt and went into the deep end And tried to sprint as hard as I could for about 30 seconds for each sprint. That was exhausting and I was definitely out of breath at the end of each because the pressure of the water with my arms and legs was not an easy thing to run in. For people that are unable to sprint what do you think of that as an option? I have BFR bands, so is that aqua jogging sprinting option as good as putting the bands on my legs and doing indoor cycling sprinting?
She hasn’t given up because she is 59. She looks amazing. I’ve not given up and I’m 60, I still plan to wear my bikini on holiday and I could put the young to shame, they eat far too much ultra processed crap.
I’m 60 doctor - having many internal issues happening including EPI nobody can seem to help me I’m not obese, I don’t drink or smoke , yet I have cellular inflammation and hashimotos - my fear is an untimely demise because nobody can explain what’s wrong
I just turned 60 and I have a beautiful body. Better than women half my age. I don’t mean to come across as bragging. You just said to tell you if any of us are like Caroline. I don’t eat carbs. I stay away from processed foods and junk food. I wish I could post a photo.
Aslo, Caroline Labouchere is beautiful for all the reasons you mention. I did notice on her website that she talks about her diet and excercise a bit. Which led me to a few questions. She does claim to be low carb but also eats many many vegetables and seems her calorie intake is quite low. Does not seem to be consistent with a carnivore of keto way of eating. She mentions running but not sprinting. Therefore, do you think a lot of her success is having good genes? Not considering her outward good looks but her MRI scans. Her scans seem perfect and she doesn't do much of what you prescribe other than low carb. Thank you so much for your thoughts. I very much want to have scans like hers!!
You won't lose much fat sprinting vs long distance running. One relies on carbs (sprinting) while the other relies on fat (long distance slow runs for aerobics).
Yes I seen a video on her instagram with her husband over a year ago… he said she eats like a bird and it was about how down and depressed she felt. Didn’t seen happy or healthy.
What's so bad about "love handles"? It's a healthy subcutaneous fat. Especially in women. What's her persantage of body fat? You cant ask all women to be so lean - it's a bit an unhealthy message 😵💫 i'm of a mornal weight, also low carb and dont eat junk, but to look like her i would have to starve myself 🫣
Hello Dr. Sean O’Mara. I just received a cool scale, Lepse Smart Body Scale, to just get an idea of my weight broken down. Today I am 126.2 pounds now and I know this is a build of muscle and bone since I have been carnivore a year and 3 weeks now- zero carb. I am 5’7” and when I lost weight with carnivore I went down to 119/120lbs. Dr. Baker said do resistance training so I do 40 pull ups, I lift now 140 barbell, doing 20lbs to 35 lb hand weights, doing around 40 pushups, and walk daily if I have time. I do sprint in areas of walk, especially this one road that we have that is steep. So my weight has gone up to the 126 pounds, which is good. I eat 73/27 ground beef and ribeyes- eat around 5am then 11am, and at times in the evening if hungry after a walk, I try to eat before 7pm. No cheat days, no dairy, no plant based as it all bothers me, no coffee, no alcohol, just beef, salt to taste with Redmand’s, and water! Here is my breakdown from the scale: Weight: 126.2 BMI: 19.8 Body Fat: 24.5 Muscle Rate: 70.6% Fat Free Body Weight: 95.2lbs Subcutaneous fat: 17.5% Heart Rate: 95bpm (nerves☺️) Cardiac Index (4.1L-nerves☺️) Visceral Fat: 3.5 Body Water: 51.8% Skeletal Muscle: 40.6% Muscle Mass: 89.1lbs Bone Mass: 6.4lb Protein: 18.8% BMR: 1229kcal Body Age: 28 I just turned 47. ☺️ Had to share with you. I am fasting today- has been 24 hours and may do a 2 day fast to see what it does when weighing tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts. For now am using this scale.
She has an amazing scan. Dr Sean I like to go mountain biking 1 or 2 times a week, do you think that will effect my visceral fat even if I'm sprinting or doing HIIT workouts.
I'm 59 and have been eating low carb, exercising, eating lots of fish and meat, drinking 4 bottles of wine/week since I was 16. Also intermittent fasting for the last 25 years. Feel like 16 still. Great channel Sean!

As a fellow physician, I hope this guy will concede that, as doctors, we don't learn *anything* (not one lecture) related to nutrition or exercise in medical school. Instead, the learning is centered around disease identification & treatment - not prevention. I don't disagree that carbohydrates (sugars) are inflammatory - I suspect it's bc they alter the natural gut bacteria, with gut dysbiosis driving a number of "diseases," from obesity and depression to MS and possibly Alzheimers, the latter being the most common cause of dementia. So generally speaking? Don't listen to doctors - we just follow guidelines. An example? As recently as 10 years ago, I was reprimanded for recommending a video to colleagues - it was Dr.Robert Lustig's "Sugar: The Bitter Truth." I was told that we're still required to follow "the food pyramid." 🙄 Whether it's deciding to take a novel vaccine for some newly circulating virus or taking a new "miracle med" for weight loss? Remember that your doctor isn't researching these things; we just recommend them - and why? Because we're told to. No one wants to hear this, but physicians don't have access to some secret repository of knowledge - I'm pretty sure that the average person with internet access can figure-out most of medicine. And unfortunately, after years in practice? It does seem clear that the medical and pharmaceutical "industries" are in a largely clandestine,, grossly co-dependent, and utterly unhealthy relationship. So do your own research! Finally, with regard to this topic? Don't dispute the reality of genetics. By all means, clean-up your diet, move more, get outside in the sun, get enough sleep, and have fun. Just remember - they're not a recipe for looking like this. Happily? There are many equally healthy older women walking around on short, stubby legs! I guess it was more compelling to choose someone with model-like good looks. The final word is that the best diet, exercise, skin care and stress management in the world can't give you mile-high legs or this kind of exquisite bone structure.
I think this is more about the internal Look, so to speak. And wheather or not she looks her age on the outside, she definitely has a better looking MRI than lots of 20 yo today....
Is there really hope for a flat belly at 56? Without HRT Even If you haven’t done as things right ? Can you actually start now ? Appreciate your videos❤
I started several years ago Keto, but found out the Oxylates in the salads were killing me, changed to Carnivore and a cgm, doing much better, all levels perfect but can’t lose weight. I think I need to try more protein less fat.
YES! I started just after the bulk of my menopause "phase"~ @ 55 yrs old. I had zero known diagnosis, no autoimmune stuff or anything else I was aware of. I also chose not to put HRT into my body. It took almost 2 yrs for my body to start SHOWING any weight loss, though I well know my visceral fat was dissipating, among other things. I had gained an unwanted 50lbs between 48 & 55 yrs old, & have now lost 40 lbs of it in just the past few months~ after 2 yrs eating lots of meat & small amounts of fermented foods. I also walk a lot, climb lots of stairs, & do some version of sprint activity several times a week. It has been amazing, to say the least! I had so much internal healing going on during those first 2 yrs (Plus, I was under-eating!), & the mental health benefits, energy increase, & overall wellbeing kept me going. In fact, the many other benefits of this lifestyle soon surpassed the original weight loss goal as being my top priority. I knew the weight would come off in time, as not everyone loses body fat right out the gate- though most do. My body looks a whole lot more like that of a 35 yr old these days,(I'm 58) & even with extra "baby belly" skin/stretch marks, my abdomen is nearly flat again. I will never look back, & quite honestly, it's like aging in reverse~ my 63 yr old husband agrees, & has also had fantastic results. I love waking up every day feeling joyful, energized, & peaceful- all at the same time. I love eating this way, all the meat I want, butter, eggs etc~ nothing tastes better to me anymore, & no desire to eat crappy foods that do nothing for me. I never thought that would happen, but it surely does! I love how strong my body feels, & how much stamina I have for any kind of exercise, activity or movement I feel like doing. Finally, I absolutely love how good I feel in my clothes...or out of them, for that matter. =) Honestly, there's so much more, but I've gone long already😁I just get excited when I hear or read of someone considering this because I already KNOW what will happen. Plus, I struggled for a while initially, because I couldn't figure out why the scale wouldn't budge for me, & not many were addressing menopausal females at the time~ they are now. *Dr. Elizabeth Bright is another great source, & Sean definitely knows what he's talking about as well~ as you are aware. I also did a lot of research on my own. It's the simplest way of life, even though I over complicated it at first. Everyone's body responds differently, based on metabolic health & a whole host of other factors. No need to dwell on any of that, because you absolutely will meet your goals, & a lot more you may not have even considered, as I did. Our bodies WANT to be in optimal condition, it's our natural state of being, & requires a natural response/course of action from us. It's not grueling or difficult at all~ just some adjustment, committment & follow through. I felt SO much better right away that it was easy to keep going on this path. *Would love to hear back on how it's going for you in a few days, weeks or months~ that would be great. =) ~Samantha in AZ

I'm 64, and I've been a runner for 37 years. But I'm not fanatical about it. I run approximately 3 miles, 3 times per week and take off about 3 months in the winters, because I live in snowy New England. Is combining 30-second sprints within my 3 mile run as good as doing only sprints. I do approximately 10 30-second sprints within my 3 mile run. Am I losing fast twitch muscles to my slow twitch muscles because I run?
Hello Dr. Sean! I have been trying to sprint for the first time in years and I have a quick question. I am a 42 yr old woman 5'10". After my first week of sprinting twice that week i went out the next time and felt like I had been nailed with a baseball in my quad. The faster I try to run (making sure to actually sprint) the more it hurts. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your videos!

It didn't happen to me. I'm 57, eat healthily, do resistance training and cycling. No processed foods except a LITTLE chocolate at the weekend. No alcohol. Works for me. My lovely sister is 4 years younger and on HRT. She's overweight because of her habits. It's our habits that make or break us.

Hi Maria I would be interested in following a similar path to you :). Do you have social media?
Well unless you have some kind of illness in your female parts it isn’t unusual to be menstruating at 40.

Rather 60.

@@DrSeanOMara Please address the issue of beneficial weight GAIN and getting firm flesh and muscle tone with this diet, is carnivore only good for weight loss? What kinds of fermented foods did you add?
Hi MK…really…I just started with fermented foods Quality pickles/cottage cheese/a little aged cheese not to much
I love how direct and forceful you are at explaining and teaching the science of a healthy body.
Agree!

Right now I'm (not running) but sort of slow jogging outside on soft earth, in the citrus groves near my place. Rough terrain, so I'm wearing Sorrel hiking boots - no padding at all but they are light and have a very roomy toebox. That's my zone 2 cardio. Otherwise, I'm also lifting heavy for strength training
But for sprinting, I'm just trying to get an idea from others, near my age, who are just beginning - their shoe of choice.😊

I am 73.
I tried Atkins maybe 15 years ago. I enjoyed the meat/fat/cheese but I found a lack of energy. Do you find that at all?
You know adkins had a history of hypertension, heart attacks. Not a great role model

Not just motivated but persistent. I am that person...still watching your videos. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing! Watched from Okinawa 🌺.
I’m 53 and I’ve been on keto protocol for over 2 years, sprints 3 times a week. Would love to get tested for visceral fat.
Intermittent fasting and have a disciplined fitness training regime. Its never too late to start. If you're not fit start gently and after several months you'll realise youve come a long way. You will never regret it.
She looks 59 in the good way. She doesn't look 40's, 30's, 20's…. She looks 59.
Not many 59 people like this live in Australia. She has brilliant physique
Loved the angle you have taken to educate us about this topic. Thank you Droctor.👌💕🌹
⭐ She's certainly an Inspiration. Caroline Labouchere. ⭐
Love your videos,information so valuable.
Thank Dr Shawn Xx
Glad you like them!
For those that want to give low carb a go it does not take decades of eating this way to get to low visceral fat. Depending on where someone is starting from it can take just 3 months to a year. Carnivore diet is like magic I’ve found.
It would have been interesting for her to do a bone density scan.
Thank you, doctor. Greetings from Pretoria, South Africa. I just subscribed now to your channel.
Kudos to her for authorizing you to publish her images!
At 59 years old, I had no wrinkles, I was slender as I had been my whole life. I ate a balanced diet that included fish and chicken and lots of vegetables. I exercised every day, and I always looked 10 years younger than my birth age. I think a lot of it Has to do with genetics.
Lifestyle way way way way way way way way way way more than genetics. Monozygotic Identical twin studies show this and siblings.
Thank you Dr O’Mara ❤
THANK YOU! ❤ I greatly appreciate you sharing these actionable steps to improve my life and others.
Great video.
I just came across you video random. I’m so glad I did. I want to learn so much more!
Great video Doc!!
I’m 57years old been doing IF for coming to 5 years and I’m best I’ve been in decades.
5ft 6 and weigh 55kgs
I’d be happy to get a MRI done for you 😀
Your strategies are spot on! Kudos!
Thank you for all your videos 🙏
Have checked out Charlene Anderson, 49!year old longtime carnivore of 20 years or so…she looks amazing, like she’s in her 20’s.
Excellent!
Caroline has been low carb Atkins for decades AND has had three children. If your mom got a MRI she would see visceral fat hidden inside.
Thank you Dr Sean.
Fractured and dislocated my hip in ‘91. Sprinting is very tough for me. Anything else that’s similar and beneficial? Bike sprints for example.
Rebounding
In other videos of his, he says nothing can really substitute all the pos of sprinting, but he says you can do other things if you are injured or haven't worked out for a long time. One of those things which I started was sprint rowing. Still did 2 to 5 seconds, all out after stretching, 3 to 5 rounds, and in the sauna I go working up from 10 to 15 minutes at 175 F recommended.
I am 59 & have that exact build. I am losing muscle even through resistance training & my skin is losing elasticity. I believe lyme has something to do with it but diet has controlled it until menopause
Muscle loss definitely accelerates after menopause! 😢
So nice to see very few critical comments 😊. She looks fantastic.
I have a hunch the good doctor won't be replying to this one.
She must have mentioned being on Atkins to him, not everyone stays on a diet forever.
@@Bubbles-od2tv That’s true of course but he is basically saying she looks this good because she ate that way for years.
@@alisonpatterson3770 Thanks for that.
It would be great to see scans for Dr Joel Fuhrman, or any long term nutritarians, and David Goggins.
Impressive, thanks Doc
Thank you for that saggittell view.
Can you really reverse sun damaged skin at 62? My skin looks like elephant skin and feels so dry. Doing carnivore for about 6 weeks now.
45lbs eek 😳
@@susanstricker5416Susan, sorry, 45 kilos, 102lb 🙋🏻♀️
Before I watch the video. I saw that lady on an interview with Dr. Chaffee on her own channel. She's VERY attractive.
I feel the same way and I’m 55. Most doctors are afraid to diagnose now or spend enough time to figure out what’s wrong.
Her mri is super impressive.
I would be very curious to see what her arteries look like. To see if she had any blockage in arteries.
You're not so bad yourself, Doctor. :)
Trying to! Thanks for noticing the effort.
My first thought within 3 seconds.. ," she avoids carbs and processed foods.. decided to go organic years ago...
I am guessing genetics plays a role. She also lives a healthy lifestyle.
I was cynical but this was a really great video, thank you
Thank you
What's so bad about "love handles"?
Here is my breakdown from the scale:
Weight: 126.2
BMI: 19.8
Body Fat: 24.5
Muscle Rate: 70.6%
Fat Free Body Weight: 95.2lbs
Subcutaneous fat: 17.5%
Heart Rate: 95bpm (nerves☺️)
Cardiac Index (4.1L-nerves☺️)
Visceral Fat: 3.5
Body Water: 51.8%
Skeletal Muscle: 40.6%
Muscle Mass: 89.1lbs
Bone Mass: 6.4lb
Protein: 18.8%
BMR: 1229kcal
Body Age: 28
I just turned 47. ☺️ Had to share with you. I am fasting today- has been 24 hours and may do a 2 day fast to see what it does when weighing tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts. For now am using this scale.
Love to see more women in your videos!
She has an amazing scan. Dr Sean I like to go mountain biking 1 or 2 times a week, do you think that will effect my visceral fat even if I'm sprinting or doing HIIT workouts.
Everyone’s different. You’d definitely be better hiking and sprinting along those paths!
If u enjoy mtn biking then do it!
What works is what u will do!!!
@DrSeanOMara I do that too. 😁 Thanks for the reply. 👍🏻
The only purpose for including grass fed meat is that it cost more so you will eat less which will improve health out comes.
I'm 59 and have been eating low carb, exercising, eating lots of fish and meat, drinking 4 bottles of wine/week since I was 16. Also intermittent fasting for the last 25 years. Feel like 16 still. Great channel Sean!
@rickhanson - admit it sir, you're an alcoholic not a carnivore. 😂
I'm not a carnivore or alcoholic. I'm happy and healthy. It takes a lot of work to achieve that. One of the things that help you reach happy health is to avoid being negative, Teressa
I started at 63 and don't regret it.
Heck Yeah 👊
Honestly, there's so much more, but I've gone long already😁I just get excited when I hear or read of someone considering this because I already KNOW what will happen.
YES!!!!
look up on you tube free workout channels: "Be fit in 90 days" and their other chan "Be fit". these are excellent workout progames that work to get you fit. plus add in Dr O'mara's sprinting workout. And you will be in shape in now time (90+ days)
combined a good diet like keto and/or carnivore with weight lifting and cardio like sprinting.
I work out with weights and also do Beachbody workout T25, 21 day fix and 80 day obsession (look up you tube videos on all of these) this is a company that has a ton of videos on demand for $125 per year. They have been around for 30+ years (?) they use to have DVD's not on demand. their workouts are professional & excellent...they are HARD but in 90 days with a clean diet you will be shocked at how great you look. If you have more weight to lose after 90 days just pick another workout program. see their you tube video stories on beach body workout you tube chan = amazing = and its true about the weight loss and getting the body in excllent shape. look up on y t "Beach body workout'
include some fasting weekly to prevent lose skin and tighten up the skin plus the workouts will also build muscle to prevent lose skin. for fasting see yt ch Dr mindy pelz and she has two books Fast like a girl and Menapause reset.
IT'S NEVER TO LATE.💪
59 isn't old lol now 80 is old 🎉🎉
This is great! Very cool to see… goals for this 49 year old woman!
My sister claims that I’ll get arm fat once I hit menopause and nothing will stop it from happening.
That’s good to hear, thank you!
I’m 55 and I have some but very little.
Tell your get off the HRT. Very dangerous
@@katemiller7874 she's on testosterone as well as the rest. It does concern me but she believes it's the best thing for her as she feels so much better than she did.

This is absolutely wonderful but don’t we need carbs for good energy to work out?
