  • Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park. This is one of those you have to see it to believe it places. Pebbly Beach is one of these places that we put off for years, why? Well basically it just seemed too hard to do.
The only problem with Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park is you have to cross Station Creek to get there. It’s really not a hard crossing to do, it has a good solid base and a rope fence line to follow. But it is all salt water so you need to wait for low tide.
This is what makes Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park seem just that little bit hard. You need to plan your trip around the tides. And for us it’s a 5 hour drive just to make timing that little bit more difficult.
When Matty from @f.s.aearthmoving4x4 said to me lets plan a long weekend boys trip. I knew this was the perfect opportunity to finally go and camp at Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park.
My recommendation is book two nights regardless if you’re going to stay two, that way you have time to work around the tides.
Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park is around 50km north of Coffs Harbour and only about 15minunts off the highway you’re in the sand. The Yuraygir National Park had really well maintained dirt road access. And when you got near the beach access road a massive pile of wood off cuts for your campfire. Who doesn’t love that!
Once you’re at the beach entrance it’s only a short 5 minute drive on sand before you are at Station Creek ready to cross into pebbly beach its self.
It’s really easy to follow the crossing. There is a wire fence line that puts you on nearly the perfect line. There is one deep section. It’s definitely worth walking this crossing before you take it on.
On the Pebbly Beach campground there is a wooden ramp for easy entrance to the camp ground. Other than the station creek crossing being tidal and salt it really is an easy crossing if you plan the tides and cross on low.
Once in Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park it’s easy to see the appeal. There are plenty of large well-spaced out grass camp sites with fire pits, 73 of them. Half of them on the edge of the beach and the others set back a little. The campground also has drop toilets.
It is the perfect place to kick back and relax or there is plenty to do and see around. The beach clearly gets its name from the amount of pebbles and the lack of sand. It is one of the coolest beaches I’ve ever seen.
We wandered up and down the beach exploring. Checked out the rocks, there were plenty of people fishing from them too. In the end it was all about rest and relaxation for us, we ended up just swinging around in the hammocks and laying around Station creek with some tins and tunes.
All and all, if you have never been to Pebbly Beach campground - Yuraygir National Park I highly recommend it! It is a pristine spot not far from civilisation where you can just kick back and let the world pass by. It is well worth the effort!
