This is my all time favorite show, been a huge fan of The X-Files since I was 12 when it first aired in the early 90's, around late 1993, early 1994 in Australia, I own the entire series on Blu-ray and have purchased it multiple times on different formats, I have watched the entire series around 6-7 times and constantly love rewatching it, the writing, direction, acting performances, cinematography, editing, and music score are all top notch, every episode is like a mini movie.
We must be around the same age, X-files was one of the first shows I remember discussing with my classmates the next day at school. You make great points about the production quality. What I loved is how they could play with the format a little and it would still feel like X-files, you could have dark episode like 'Squeeze' and 'The host' and fun episodes like 'Bad Blood' which is my favourite. I also remember some great shots and amazing music in 'Triangle' such a playful episode.

I remember that episode. The scene where he throws his neighbor in the furnace gave me chills when I first saw the episode and again when I did a rewatch in 2008.
The X-Files was magical. I was in the 4th grade when season 1 first debuted. I remember talking with one of my classmates every week about last nights episode and what could be next. We both loved that show and were so excited and could not wait to talk about it the next day.
I loved X-Files. The show also taught me a few things about the limits of TV shows and what happens when they want to continue forever (spoilers: diminishing returns). Rewatching the first two seasons reminded me of how powerful the show was in its early days.
So, so true. Always retire as a winner. I also watched the first 2 seasons again a few months ago, and could not help keeping on watching, unlike current series which bore me to death after 5 minutes ;)
X files was on after my bedtime when i was little and my mom always watched it, I remember hearing the theme song through the door and it used to creep me out bad lol
I was just out of high school when the show started. I loved it so much!! Because it filmed where I live, I used to go around to the filming locations regularly. They also filmed a lot at my uni! Good times!
One of the best shows ever made. I watched every episode I could and if I missed one cuz of work my mom would record then on vhs so I could get caught up. And Millennium was also great. I still think it was Lance Hendrickson's best role.
The X Files was one of my favorite series back in the 90s. The family and I watched it religiously. It would be nice time to bring it back with all the ufos news that's been happening
We love you Minty, please keep creating, for real , there is not another channel that makes the nostalgic this entertaining, I love your collection and interests, seriously, I look forward to your content, somehow it’s always something I want to know more about!
He makes so many videos where you say to yourself 'I love that movie' or 'I remember that show.' So many nostalgic pieces that he brings so much fun to. He puts in the effort and digs out out great facts, not just the ones that everyone knows. What I like most is how much respect he shows for things.
I mean he missed talking about Vince Gilligan directing a bunch of the episodes and missed talking about a whole lot of information really I get that it was just some 10 countdown thing, but yeah. As a true fan of the show, it just left me feeling meh 🤷♀️

X-Files & subsequently Millennium (Chris Carter’s Impeccable show that aired alongside X-Files from 1996-99 starring Lance Henriksen) were both perfection. Millennium was abruptly canceled after Season 3 but thankfully got a series finale focused episode in a later season of X-Files. Now, if we could only get Millennium on streaming & a Blu-ray box set!
Best show ever. I'm afraid I already knew all that sruff, but then I'm a complete X-Files obsessive. I managed to meet David, Gillian and Chris Carter. I thanked Chris for the show and told him how much it meant to me. It isn't true that David and Gillian didn't like each other. They were working together so much, (14 hour days, 6 days a week,) that they would get on each other's nerves. They became very good friends later on. I have seen them together and their regard for each other is obvious - plus that famous chemistry is still there! 👍👽
I can believe it got tense. I knew a couple that were married and ran a business together. They hired a high level manager for a big chunk of the work when their relationship started to suffer. Glad you got to thank Chris, you spoke for a lot of us.
Used to love watching this in the UK during the 90s. It was in a great Thursday night slot (i think) that also used to also have The Outer Limits, red dwarf, quantum leap..
I didn't watch a lot of network television when I was in my twenties. But I heard critics talking about how good the X-Files were so I started watching and was hooked.
I was a young kid when X-Files was running in the 90s's, I watched it with my dad every week. This show was definitely on another level for its time and really brings back fond memories from my youth now when I see the re-runs. Great video Minty!! Keep up the good work!
Great timing putting this video out Minty! I’ve been rewatching X-Files on Netflix and I’m halfway through season 5.It’s still my all time favorite series!
I loved the X-Files as a kid, I remember the demon episode where he try’s to have a “normal” child but always ends up with a demon spawn then scares the mother nearly to death so she has a miscarriage until he meets another woman who is a demon as well only he doesn’t know it and she doesn’t play his games she knows them and just wants a child of her own. What always amazed me was how calm Moulder and Scully where when they finally figured out the plot of the show and it’s just everyday life for them.
My favorite episode is Bad Blood from season 5. The same story told from Mulder and Scully’s point of view. Luke Wilson as the town sheriff and The Great Hambino Patrick Renna as Ronnie the vampire pizza delivery guy. It’s a weird horror/comedy mash up, always reminded me of Tales From The Crypt.
Probably my favorite guest star episode lol. I liked how when Moulder was telling the story, Luke Wilson's cop character would have buck teeth and act a bit like a doofus, but when Skully was the story teller, the cop looked and acted normal (maybe even a bit of a charmer? 😅). Wonderfully written, directed, and acted.
My all-time favorite show! The theme is even my notification sound. I've watched every episode since the pilot, saw both movies at midnight opening day, went as Scully for Halloween twice, have the entire series on DVD before streaming was a thing, and if I ever have another son his name will be Fox. 😂 This show holds so many memories of watching it with my dad each Sunday. But I completely agree that after Mulder left, the magic wasn't there.
I have fond memories of Watching The X-Files in high school and college. D.P.O, HOME, ICE, BAD BLOOD, and X-Cops were my favorites. The Lone Gunmen were cool.😮
The X-Files... A show so incredible not even being broadcast in the TV death slot of Friday night could kill it. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I would go out on Fridays but thanks to the magic of the VCR we would end our evenings watching the show... mostly.
It was a show with some amazing first few seasons, and to me it wasn't the same when they quit filming in Vancouver. Episodes like Gender Bender (1994) just had everything going for it with, with Mulder and Scully in those weird, rainy Canadian locales along with Mark Snow's eerie music. It was never quite the same when they changed locations.
Yep, I noticed that difference (though couldn't put my finger on it). It also made sense why they started having a lot of the stories set in the southern US regions, where they had actual desert and dry/arid areas for filming locations.
I loved the rainy cloudy mood of the early shows but it didn't always work. The one that makes me laugh to this day was Humbug it was the one with all the side show people and was set in Gibsonton Florida. I live about 10 miles form there and it looked nothing like the area let alone Florida. Best part was the ocean they showed had rock we don't have rocks here.
Oh, TXF, how I love you. I find it funny how Home was considered to be too far, while it is one of my favourites in season 4. I remember being 14 at the time in aired in my country and that my friends and I would often quote it or put on the Mrs. Peacock voice for fun for months.
WATCHING IT AS A YOUNGSTER?! Thanks for making me feel old! I was in my early 20's. I had the same experience, though, as a youngster with Kolchak: The Night Stalker. I'm glad to hear my theory being confirmed behind it being part of the inspiration. My other theory is thst The Flintstones were inspired by The Honeymooners. Has that ever been confirmed? Great work, as always
Yay!!!!!! And you were right there on the feed! So glad to see your video 😊 My mom and I watched this as a kid, she ordered the VHS tapes. They were peculiar because if it was a to be continued episode, it wasn't on the next video 😅.
When the show first came out, it reminded me a lot of the horror TV shows from the 80s, where the characters investigated supernatural events... Like the Friday the 13th series, or the Hitchhiker.
One of my all-time favorite shows ever I’m actually re-watching it now I was like I need to rewatch at least one more time & another great video good sir thank you
One of the all time greatest TV shows. I loved the X-Files back when it was new, and still love watching the episodes over again. I was well into the alien storyline, but some of my favorites were monster of the week episodes. As twisted as it was, Home is a classic. Jose Chung’s From Outer Space, Bad Blood, Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose, Humbug. All great episodes.
So happy to see you, Minty. X files was and is a favorite show. Excellent content as always. Thank you so much!! I hope you know how much you're appreciated. Have a great day, Minty! :)
Good call on this selection Minty! The creepy guy who could slide under the cracks of doors and whatnot creeped me out years after watching his two episodes. This show had a strong parallel to Stephen King's film adaptions, in that, effects were secondary it was all about setting the stage with good story & overall tense vibes.
Do you mean Eugene Victor Tooms? The guy who would emerge from hibernation every 30 years, eat 5 peoples' livers, tear up newspapers to make a sort of paper machet cocoon to climb into & hibernate again? Those episodes stood out so much to me that almost 3 decades later I've never forgotten his name.
I was a complete X-phile back in the day but must admit I dropped off around the time when the relationship between Mulder and Scully became more than platonic. It was one of the best aspects of the show in the early days. Still, didn't stop me from going to a convention as Scully! Great times.
Hi Minty, so happy to see you back in my recommendations again. I loved the X-files for its weird atmosphere and the two main characters. Not as crazy as Twin Peaks, but still highly entertaining.
X-files started when I was in high school, and was a can't-miss for someone who had little time or interest in TV. It carried over through my undergrad at university. The last couple of seasons in the original run lost something, though not I felt, for lack of trying. It was a classic. Glad to see it get the Minty Treatment.
I always liked monster of the week episodes the best as well. Some of my Favorites were: The Field where I Died, Drive, The Post Modern Prometheus, Jose Chungs' from Outer Space, Darkness Falls and The Unnatural.
One of the weirdest things about the show is that they used the same actors to play MULTIPLE minor roles. A guy would be a doctor with speaking lines in one episode and a military member with speaking lines in another and they just thought no one would notice. Like, "Oh, throw some glasses on and use your normal voice." casting.
I had that game too... but for the PC. It was actually pretty well-done and had good X-Files flavor... but yeah, even the best FMV games sort of weren't great. ;-)
I absolutely love this series! I even enjoyed the movies. I remember my mom & sister watching it back in the 90's & I actually asked them if it was real or a TV show 😂🤣 From then on I was hooked! I love conspiracy theories & this show was perfect!
X Files is a great show. I grew up with vivid fond scary memories of a 1974 show called 'the Night Stalker' starring Darren McGavin, with Richard Matheson as head writer. It felt like a precursor to X Files in a few ways. A news reporter stumbling into myths and legends, no one believes him when he trys to prove their existance. I would love to see a 10 things video on this show.😮
Also, there were two video games based on the show. The PC/Mac/Playstation game "The X-Files Game" and the PlayStation 2 game "The X-Files: Resist or Serve". Both of which contain voice acting from the main actors Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. Though in the first game you are playing as a character named Craig Willmore, who is assigned by Assistant Director Walter Skinner to investigate the disappearance of agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. The second game you get to play as either Dana Scully or Fox Mulder.
Thank you Minty!! I've loved X-Files a long time, but during Covid I rewatched the entire series and became absolutely obsessed with Mulder and Scully. Or Sculder, as I discovered when I typed their names into RUclips. Dozens of homage sites came up, scenes of the two of them set to music, cuts from favorite episodes (mine is S5 E5: The Post Modern Prometheus). I read many comments on the chemistry between those two. Several people said that the relationship between Mulder and Scully was their role model, as it lasted 25 years and involves mutual respect. Many people know that it's all in front of the camera, but choose to believe otherwise anyway. All I know is the show died when they weren't together. Magic!
Thanks for this video. X-Files is one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and I didn't miss an episode in the 90s. I was just thinking about it the other day, and how there will probably not be another show like it.
I'd always hoped that Mulder and Scully would have hooked up and as luck would have it they'd hooked up a bit into the series/movies. I truly enjoyed every single Friday night I could remember the 9:00 o'clock episode then they'd also have the recap from the last week there before. I really liked the host episode I had liked that one also I'd really liked the episode squeeze and the continuation of that episode tools. My favorite guest was that being Peter Boyle. I have the whole series on blu-ray and I can't be happier with my X-Files set! The truth is still out there!
I watched every episode, one of my favorite shows ever, thanks for this video Minty. I’m glad you’re branching out into TV shows. But please do the first movie soon.
I was scared when I saw the intro of the series as a kid, but I like one episode namely the one in which the weather in a certain town reflected a sensitive soul's feelings and emotions.
I've just watched the whole series again plus the 2 films.. this will always be one of my favourite shows and one of the best ever shows to grace tv. Simply brilliant. 👽
Thanks so much for the video, Minty! I first started watching on Sundays as a college freshman in 1997. I lived in the dorms and half the floor would gather in the lounge. If you didnt get to the lounge early enough, youd have to bring your own chair.😅

Nope. It was Jodie Foster. The episode is from season 4 episode 13 and is called “Never Again” and the tattoo’s name was Betty.
The X-Files was magical. I was in the 4th grade when season 1 first debuted. I remember talking with one of my classmates every week about last nights episode and what could be next. We both loved that show and were so excited and could not wait to talk about it the next day.
Same! I was nine years old when the series started and 18 when it ended.
One of my favourite shows of the 90s. Thank you Minty for doing this video.
The pilot of this series is a freaking masterpiece.
X files was on after my bedtime when i was little and my mom always watched it, I remember hearing the theme song through the door and it used to creep me out bad lol
Every week my family would order a pizza, turn down the lights, sit on the floor with blankets, and turn on the newest episode of X-Filled. Loved it!
I was just out of high school when the show started. I loved it so much!! Because it filmed where I live, I used to go around to the filming locations regularly. They also filmed a lot at my uni! Good times!
X-Files and Millennium are some of my favourite series of the 90s
Man I loved this show back in the day. When people actually watched TV at the end of the day.
One of the best shows ever made. I watched every episode I could and if I missed one cuz of work my mom would record then on vhs so I could get caught up. And Millennium was also great. I still think it was Lance Hendrickson's best role.
Oh yes! I remember Millennium , was really good too 👍🏻
The X Files was one of my favorite series back in the 90s.
Yeah, with Minty you feel like you are getting value for money- what it’s free 😂
We love minty!
I mean he missed talking about Vince Gilligan directing a bunch of the episodes and missed talking about a whole lot of information really I get that it was just some 10 countdown thing, but yeah. As a true fan of the show, it just left me feeling meh 🤷♀️
@@kateapple1 we aren’t gonna take kindly to bad mouthing Minty
I don't care how many loss of views you have I will always tune into your station because I find it entertaining and hilarious and educational as I've learnt a lot about movies and things that I didn't know before and you got a good sense humour you're very witty you make good points and good observations your always cool in my books keep on researching and finding new material and I like the way you explained stuff is while you're very articulate keep up the good work Icemanx23
Great video. The X Files is without a doubt one of my favorite shows growing up and even attended an X Files Con which was a blast.
This show and Supernatural are two shows with the monster of the week vibe nailed down. Love x files and Supernatural.
Me too. Huge amount of actors in The X-Files were also in Supernatural.
I used to religiously videotape it when it originally aired. I love this show! I'm now rewatching and loving every minute
Great timing putting this video out Minty! I’ve been rewatching X-Files on Netflix and I’m halfway through season 5.It’s still my all time favorite series!
So glad you made a video😊. Im rewatching this with my son and he's loving it as mich as I am. So far ahead of its time!
Which episode and season is that one??? I wanna watch it now lol
S6E7 Terms of endearment with none other than Bruce Campbell.
Sweet!!! Thanks man !👍
My favorite episode is Bad Blood from season 5. The same story told from Mulder and Scully’s point of view. Luke Wilson as the town sheriff and The Great Hambino Patrick Renna as Ronnie the vampire pizza delivery guy. It’s a weird horror/comedy mash up, always reminded me of Tales From The Crypt.
It is excellent!
YES it is hilarious and so goofy! Especially the autopsy scenes!
One of the worst ones lol
Another banger Minty. Glad to see you’re still at it! I’ve learned tons from your videos. Cheers and thanks from Canada!
Thank you for mentioning the Night Stalker show from the 70s. I grew up loving this show.
Thank you! Thank you for covering this fantastic series! From a lifelong X-files addict. 😍🤩😎
The episode with Luke Wilson was hilarious.
Thank YOU, Minty. I love your episodes and this one was right up there. Keep doing what you are doing dude!
My first video to watch today and it is nostalgia to the max, ahhh I miss the 90’s!! Thanks for the video Minty!!
I have fond memories of Watching The X-Files in high school and college. D.P.O, HOME, ICE, BAD BLOOD, and X-Cops were my favorites. The Lone Gunmen were cool.😮
D.P.O was a very memorable episode. Bad Blood was my favourite and I really loved Killswitch too, which was the episode just before it.
Awesome recap of one of my favourite TV series! Very well done. I live in Vancouver and can vouch that our moody weather was perfect for the show.
Same here. I was 23 in 1994... how time flies. The X Files remains my favourite the show ever.
Yay!!!!!! And you were right there on the feed!
So glad to see your video 😊
My mom and I watched this as a kid, she ordered the VHS tapes. They were peculiar because if it was a to be continued episode, it wasn't on the next video 😅.
My question is, why doesn't this channel have at least a million subscribers by now 🤦♂️❓️.
Another great video, thank you so much, Minty!❤
When the show first came out, it reminded me a lot of the horror TV shows from the 80s, where the characters investigated supernatural events... Like the Friday the 13th series, or the Hitchhiker.
My all-time favorite show. Thank you for this. I've been hoping you'd do this for years!!
Another great video from Minty. X-files is one of my all-time favorite shows...I didn't know these amazing facts.
I loved this series! Thanks for covering it Minty 😊
Yeah, the 'forest' like surroundings were awesome, a lot of mood and gave the right look to the series.
One of my all-time favorite shows ever I’m actually re-watching it now I was like I need to rewatch at least one more time & another great video good sir thank you
I absolutely loved the X-Files, I have all the seasons on DVD and both movies, even the less than spectacular second one
@@darthgorbag yup, that'd be him.
I grew up on X-Files, it was real television.
One of the best shows of all time. Thanks Minty. I’m going to go back and watch it again!
It lost Vancouver, which was pretty much a character in and of itself.
LOVE this channel excellent content Minty a real breathe of fresh air have to say I do enjoy a little nostalgia aswell ❤
LOVE THIS MINTY THANK YOU! I'm a huge fan, but there were a few things in this video I didn't know about!
I always liked monster of the week episodes the best as well. Some of my Favorites were: The Field where I Died, Drive, The Post Modern Prometheus, Jose Chungs' from Outer Space, Darkness Falls and The Unnatural.
Thr field where I died is one of the best episodes, just something about that episode!
@@thepluggy1 agreed
@@kahvozeinsfang6953 Grotesque is another one of my favourites, so dark
One of the weirdest things about the show is that they used the same actors to play MULTIPLE minor roles. A guy would be a doctor with speaking lines in one episode and a military member with speaking lines in another and they just thought no one would notice. Like, "Oh, throw some glasses on and use your normal voice." casting.
I've noticed that in other movies as well ...
Star Trek did this constantly
Minty you are the nostalgia we all so desperately want. Thank YOU for all your content ❤️💯🤘🏻🇨🇦
You were literally at top of my general, not subscription feed today. Whatever you did worked! Thanks, Minty!
I loved this show, along with the first movie. I even had the X-Files game for the original PLAYSTATION.
I would love to see a 10 things video on this show.😮
You are by far one of my top five channels ❤Thank you
Also, there were two video games based on the show.
Thanks Minty!! I was a huge fan of millennium. I had forgotten it was an off shoot of X Files.
Magic!
That was great and I'm sharing this with my 36 yo daughter who has loved X Files for years.
Thank you ❤
"TRUST NO ONE, BUT MINTY."
I would trust Mulder.....
You are the man Minty! Another awesome 10 things I didn't know!
Spooky one, Minty. ❤️🖤
I watched every episode, one of my favorite shows ever, thanks for this video Minty. I’m glad you’re branching out into TV shows. But please do the first movie soon.
I really enjoy your reviews. Keep up the good work 👏
I was scared when I saw the intro of the series as a kid, but I like one episode namely the one in which the weather in a certain town reflected a sensitive soul's feelings and emotions.
I think that's the Valentines day episode. With the cute blonde from SNL. Can't remember her name.
I always look forward to your videos. You present them them with such a sense of fun, you always brighten my day...
Interesting fact : the pilot episode of the Lone Gunman was a plot to uncover a conspiracy to hijack an airliner and fly it into the World Trade Center. The episode aired in March 2001, six months before the 9/11 attacks.
The truth is out there.
I loved the X-Files growing up it was my favorite show. And there was actually 2 xfile movies the x files that came out in 1998 and the xfiles I want to believe In 2008. There were even x file video games I owned both. I miss the show alot. Thanks Mark for doing this episode.
